    Hey folks, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding timesheet reminders ⏰
    We understand that the ability to easily remind employees to fill out timesheets would make things easier and save you time.
    Our product team is currently investigating potential solutions for this but at this early stage there are no specific time frames available. We’ll be sure to let you know if there’s any change, though!

  2. New holiday regulations from 1 January 2024 to commence from 1 April 2024. The new legislation from 1 April is only based on 4 weeks so it would appear the only option is to manually calculate the enhanced holiday pay.

    It would be good in time if it was possible in Xero Payroll to calculate the enhanced holiday on selected pay elements only such as overtime, bonuses, commission, etc.

    We use two other payroll software packages that allow this process of selecting specific elements to calculate the enhanced holiday so it is possible.

  3. It would be great to have read-only access to payroll - all of it - for auditors.
    They need access to the staff files, the individual transactions and the reports - as they have with the rest of the business.

  4. Ability to draft future payruns - ie more than 1 darft payrun. Especially at Christmas time. I would like to draft up future payruns before Igo on leave, but still have the ability to adjust this week payrun for overtime etc. At the moment I can't move forward until I complete current payrun. or i have to do un unscheduled payrun to fix it. Very time consuming

  6. I would like the option of creating separate pay runs and allowing certain individuals access to each. This would help when doing management and senior staff payroll so payroll admin can't access the information of the senior management team. I think the access rights in Xero need to be a bit more flexible as it seems an all or nothing system at the moment. Other accounting packages do have more flexibility with access rights and I think this lets Xero down.

  8. One of the issues we have with Xero Payroll is there is no Anniversary Date for Sick leave. Our company changed hands in Apr 2020. As the new owners did not bring the Sick balances over, our sick leave anniversary became 6mths after change of ownership. That means we have to manually adjust the sick leave balances at 6mths after their Start anniversary rolls around (as service length is still recognised) for our 80 odd staff and then again on the first of October.
    We also have a annual Shutdown for Christmas, when staff have not been with the company…

  11. It would be great if Xero could implement an automatic change/suggestion to change to category A after an H-category employee doesn't meet the criteria anymore.
    One of our employees just had his birthday and I noticed the category doesn't automatically update and there's no flag to say they might now be ineligible for a certain code.
    I imagine there are more companies with the same problem where it's gone unnoticed that the National Insurance Category hasn't automatically updated as nearly everything else does and it's easy to miss a birthday!

  12. An option to do a reversal of a current pay run as currently there is no option to allow this. I had a pay run today and the client had not let me know that there was a change to their pay run until after it had been lodged with the ATO. I subsequently went to the portal and found that both pay runs had been processed as was out to the actual amount in Xero.

  13. A company we work with here in UK was recently a victim of an elaborate but simple fraud, resulting in the loss of around £5,000 from the payroll.

    The scam went like this:-

    1. Scammer fakes an email to HR from an employee requesting the bank details for their salary be changed.
    2. HR fails to spot the "EXTERNAL EMAIL WARNING!" and forwards this email to the person who updates the payroll. They also didn't spot the fake email address, or double-check with the employee.
    3. Bank details for the employee are updated in the payroll and bank payments.
    4. Some weeks later, the…

  14. On the XeroMe app for staff to log their timesheets, it will be beneficial to add a "Reason for overtime" textbox for every day, so that they can justfiy their overtime. Sometimes staff overclaim more than they should. Justifications are a good reminder for the employer to pay overtime rates correctly.

  15. just like overtime wages, it's important to separate unused annual leave paid from regular annual leave paid because this will enable accountant to quickly cal-check whether super guarantee has been calculated/set up correctly. it's impractical or inefficient if we have to check all the pay item settings.

  16. I have a staff member working a 9 day fortnight not on an RDO arrangement. It would be great to have a 'week 1' pay template and a 'week 2' pay template. We pay our staff weekly not fortnightly.

  18. We need to know how much to provide for on the balance sheet for annual leave and long service leave each month and track these for our financial statements. All the information is available via Xero payroll (leave balances and pay rates for each employee as well as leave accrued and leave taken) but in order to account for this correctly we are expected to export reports and do the calculations ourselves. And we need to maintain external files to reconcile this to each month.
    If Xero is offering a payroll and leave tracking function it should ensure the accounting…

  19. Bulk issuing a once-off bonus payment to employees. Instead of updating each pay template individually with the additional pay item, the ability to add this during a pay run would save a lot of time. Being able to select who to add it to or edit them once it has been added to all the pay templates would also help this process.

  20. When I review payroll I want to know if the employee is casual, part-time, full time or contractor.

    I want to know the typical hours worked in the payslip cycle so as to determin whether overtime entitlements apply.
