  1. Custom Reports on Xero are not really true custom reports as they are limited to only some data.

    On some other accounting packages you can include almost any financial or labelled data or contact.

    We recently had to recall a product - we could report on which clients had purchased the product but could not draw up a report that included who purchased the item with their contact details or email alongside.

    The info is all sitting in the Xero database but we had to individually look up over 50 email addresses to write to them about the recall.

    Hi all, while we appreciate feedback from you all here I want to be open that we don't intend on enabling the ability create a complete custom report that could include any data field across Xero. 


    That being said, our Reporting team have put a lot of focus into Xero's new reports to provide more visibility of activity and transactions, and flexibility to our users in the way they set these up. 


    Appreciate the specific details you've noted here aren't currently available in Xero - the closest would be Smart Lists however this is limited to customers at present - if this is something you'd often look up I'd recommend adding your support to the idea here. 


    We'll keep developing on Xero's reports - so if there is specific detail/results you'd like to see in a report welcome to start ideas for these that we can gather interest on.

  3. The UK Payroll API does not allow payslips to be updated as it does in AU/NZ.

    Enabling it like it is in NZ would allow all UK users to be able to upload Earnings/Deductions/Reimbursements/Accruals to the payslip electronically and save massive amounts of time.

  4. When generating a batch payment for multiple bills, the reference column of the batch payment is driven from the reference field within the supplier contact.

    When a batch payment is made the reference is automatically set from contacts rather than the reference on the invoice. This means that in the reference column of the batch payment the invoice reference is required to manually added, doing this also updates the contact which means this process has to be completed every month otherwise you end up exporting payments with the previous months invoice reference as the payment reference.

    Hi everyone, rounding back we appreciate there hasn't been much explanation before now on why this idea is not planned. 

    Coming across from our previous forums this has been reviewed by many of our team in product. To start, and explain logic behind the scenes - Xero allows references to be pulled from either:

    • what's been entered as a reference for the contact, or
    • the bill reference

    Batch payments is designed to cater for businesses that require the same reference for every invoice via the reference entered in the Contact record.

    👉For example utility companies needing an account number entered as a bill reference; so that the utility company knows who paid them.

    If you need to have all the payee references be pulled from the bill instead of the contact record then you can remove the reference from the contact field when processing your batch. Moving forward all of…

    I've tried the existing integrations with Shopify and Xero and the only partially viable option available has many problems. We're using this for our website https://discountoffice.co.nz. We've given up on automation between the two platforms and now manually invoicing at the end of the day which consumes a lot of our time. Do you have any plans to develop an official app to integrate the two platforms?

    Hi team, with newer versions of many of the older reports now in place, we don't have plans for making further change to Xero's older reports. 

    In Xero's newer reports you'll find the option to include decimals under the 'More' option. 

  6. Hi Everyone,
    I have a client who has shifted from using MYOB to XERO, she has today requested that in the event that she forgets to place another delivery address on the suppliers purchase order then it defaults to her address. SO the proverbial hit the fan this morning when her supplier has done what was requested on the PO and delivered it to the address noted on the PO this was meant to be in Sydney today for an opening tomorrow 1/11... so now this means a trip from Newcastle to Sydney.... Lucky it wasn't Perth.

    Could you add a small feature to reminder users to select tracking when they enter invoices/bills/transactions/manual journals?

    I know we can always use 'Find & recode' to adjust, but it would be much better to have this reminder.

    However, it's not getting much traction overtime so I do want to be honest that there are no plans for a specific reminder for adding Tracking.


    However, as mentioned, if you would like to bulk check or add tracking you may like to check out the find and recode feature😊

    Totally understand why those that use Braintree as a payment service would like to connect this as a bank feed in Xero. 

    Xero has an open API which enables third-parties who are interested to build connections with us themselves. If not already, we’d recommend approaching Braintree to let them know this is something you’d like to see. They can find out more on building an integration with us through our Developer Community or they can register their interest here

  9. Is it possible to add a quick access to Quotes from the Dashboard or anywhere else? Now, I need to go to Accounts, Sales then "See All" above Quotes.

    Hi Community! 


    Appreciate being able to quickly create a quote from the dashboard is something you’d like to see here.


    Being open with everyone, we don’t have plans for developing a button to create a quote from the Dashboard and we’ll leave this idea closed to set the right expectation.


    However, it’s worth noting that there are shortcuts that’ll take you through to the ‘All Quotes’ and ‘Add new Quote’ screens.


    When you see the search bar in the top right of the screen, you can click this and enter the letter Q to jump straight to quotes.

  10. Can you please add the ability to resize and delete online columns we see. Xero keep changing the columns in various screens (the latest is in Bank Statement lines).i now have columns so small they take multiple lines (ONE IS THE DATE!), in order to add columns with nothing in them/data I don't want to see.

    Hi team, really appreciative of the feedback. You'll find with our technology upgrades we're building more consistency throughout the product. 


    While not the ability to switch order, new invoicing does allow for you to hide/select specific detail of your invoice from showing, and you'll find many reports have great flexibility on what data and how this is shown. 


    That being said we don't have intentions of developing capability to fully customise the columns of list views across Xero any time in the near future. I'll close this request so it's clear for anyone else viewing.

  12. Hello, recently, I have added invoices to Xero, printed them out but forgotten to click the button to email them. Would iy be possible to have a simple reminder feature once you have created a customer invoice when you click away from it which says "do you want to email this invoice?"

    Hi team, while not a direct reminder to email the invoice, you’ll find the flow to create and send an invoice is much more succinct in new invoicing 🙂


    I do want to be open that we don’t have specific plans for an additional reminder as well, so we’ll close this request to set that expectation.

    I wanted to let you know that the product and tech team have been following this thread and have been listening to your interest in the functionality. We do understand the frustration it’s causing when dealing with a large number of invoices awaiting payment. Your time is valuable, and the challenges you’ve encountered are not reflective of the seamless experience we aim to provide.

    However, we are not able to build everything at once. And as a global business with many requests for our different regions and needs, when it comes to payments, we are prioritizing first improving the online invoicing experience to allow more payers to pay online. That is the most critical functionality as we know those using online payments, get paid faster. There are still some critical needs here.

  14. The 1099 functionality is not all that helpful currently with the way US laws are.

    From what I understand about 1099-Misc, there are three key things that determine whether or not you must provide for a regular vendor (there are lost of odd rules for attorneys and the like so I'm just writing about your regular vendor.)

    1) Usually only applies to payments >= $600
    2) Usually excludes Corporations
    3) Usually excludes payments made by credit card or 3rd party network like PayPal due to 1099-K

    Hi everyone, we appreciate feedback and conversation on how we could improve Xero's 1099 reporting over the years.


    Some time on from when this idea was first shared on Feature Requests - We've made lots of updates to Xero's  1099 and I'd like to round back on some of the ideas raised here.

    👉 Majority of account types can now be selected in the rules set up
    👉 We released Contacts Management which allows you to update a contact's W9 business classification, and a checkbox to automatically add them into a 1099 contact group, and select this group in your rules. If they're a corporation, don't tick the checkbox, and they won't appear in reports.
    👉 As per IRS guidelines, any payments made via a credit card or third party network are reported on a 1099-K form.

    I recently made the error of emailing a draft invoice to a customer by accident. Not sure how i managed to do it - maybe too many drinks whilst completing the invoicing :) haha

    But it occurred to me that there should be a way or an option to block the sending of draft invoices. Or even a prompt when you try to send it reminding you it's still a draft invoice. I mean whats the point of approving invoices if you can send out the draft's anyway??

    Appreciate it's been quite some time since we last updated this idea, everyone.


    I wanted to share some of the change that's come through with new invoicing, specifically around the approve and send process, which may now accommodate some of the interest in the idea here.


    Approve and Send have been incorporated in new invoicing, so this saves you a bit of time.


    Rather than needing to complete 2 separate actions (1. Approve the invoice 2. Send the invoice) this has all become one flow, from a draft invoice if you select 'Send' this'll auto approve the invoice in Xero.


    A caveat to this is where you have a Credit Limit set up and it's been exceeded - Xero'll grey out the option to Send.


    At this time in, we don't have plans for adding further blocks or warnings when sending invoices. 


    We'll keep our eyes on this idea though…

  16. I have a real estate client who wants to track clientID and Postcode but also Agent name and property value range. I can only use 2 categories and so have had to make a number of Item codes for each agent 30+ codes per agent in order to do this. If we could have more than 2 tracking categories that would be great!

    Hi everyone, we appreciate all the interest in Tracking. As widely used as this feature is we have no plans at this point to develop and extend the current limitations of Tracking in Xero.

    As some here may have explored - there are connected apps that may serve some of the needs of Tracking, as well as Xero Projects for those looking to monitor and record finite business projects or jobs.

    If there's any change, we'll return here to update.


    You're welcome to continue to share detail of how increasing options for tracking could benefit your business, however we want to be transparent in our  position, so you can make the best decision as needed for your business.

  17. When clicking into a contact profile, it would be great to see what accounts were used in the transactions for quick reference under the activity tab (currently, the columns are: Item, number, reference, date, activity date, due, and amount. It would be great to see an "account" column as well). This way, when entering infrequent bills that need to be coded to the same account, it is much easier and quicker to look up.

Previously, in Xero, you could star/save a report by going to the reports page and either looking for the report in the summary tab and then clicking the star next to the report you were looking for, or by using the search bar in the top right hand corner to find the specific report and then starring/saving it after you had searched for it. Now, when you try to star/save a report after typing something in the search bar, the report will not save. Additionally, when you attempt to switch tabs from Summary to Custom/Adviser/Draft after doing this, the system…

  19. At present when reconciling ANZ credit card bank feeds the Payee name is shown in the description column as opposed to the Payee Field. The only workaround to this issue is to setup a bank rule. As a result of this issue, all non bank rule transactions show with "unknown" in the "To" field of a spend money transaction. Come on ANZ you can do better! please fix this.

    Hi everyone, the transaction info imported into Xero is provided directly by the bank. 


    How each bank imports data into Xero differs between them, which is why some banks import how you like, and others (ie. ANZ credit cards) don't.


    Though we can appreciate how working with ANZ to change where the payee imports would be helpful, it'd require massive changes for all customers who've already set up bank rules.


    With this being said, we've decided to close this request as we aren't looking to change how this info imports at this time.

    Hi all, appreciate the interest in this idea and its importance to help reduce eye strain and headaches for improved user comfort, especially during extended usage.

    We understand that this has been a longstanding request, and we genuinely appreciate your patience and dedication to making Xero an even better platform for all.

    While this may be a function we look to explore in the long-term, we want to be upfront that this is not something we'll be developing in the near term due to the complexities involved and the need to prioritise other impactful updates. We know that this may be disappointing but hope that this provides some clarity.

    In the meantime, as some users have mentioned you may be able to use a third-party app like Google's High Contrast, which allows you to change the colour on your screen to make it easier to read.
