Reporting - Option to add account numbers & zero balances to financial statements
Ability to have to have a check box for "Include Account Numbers" and "Include or Omit Zero balances".
Purpose: Because it demonstrates completeness to show that the balance actually is zero
Thanks for continuing to engage with us on this, everyone. While it is now possible to include account numbers, as mentioned in our last update we've been continuing to review this idea and look into how we develop the option to show nil balance for accounts when running reports.
Work for this is now in development with our product team. We'll be looking to implement a solution that enables the ability to show nil balance for accounts across the Profit & Loss (Income Statement), Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method, Trial Balance, Cash Summary, Movements in Equity, Blank report as well as in Report Templates.
As work for this progresses we'll keep you all informed and updated through the idea here.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
The amount of extra work it creates by not having this basic functionality is significant. Accountants and bookkeepers are begging and pleading for this. -

XERO look at the number of users who have supported this for so long. It is long overdue to be implemented.
With so many supporters you must feel obliged to support your users requests.

YES YES PLEASE.
XERO this can not be too hard to implement.
It is needed to download and use such things as the Trail Balance in excel.
PLEASE MAKE THE UPDATE!

Rosie - you are so right this is a basic missing feature that is so important.
XERO this is well supported and needs to be fixed as per users requests. Come on and stop stalling..

this used to be a feature as I still use custom reports from a few years ago that include tracking with zero omissions, it makes it incredibly difficult to build a reliable excel sheet for reporting if the zero balance tracking categories are simply rejected.........I find it extremely frustrating that I can't set up management accounts for my new clients because this feature has been removed!

I so agree. This very overdue and has a lot of support so XERO will ignore ot - as is their previous practice.

We need this implimented as we need all of the accounts in a report to assist with setting budgets for next financial year! can this one be considered urgent!!

This is such a basic feature sorely it can be added very simply. XERO please stop producing changes that are not supported by users (New Invoicing) and fix what is needed.

I was about to move a client to Xero but have now paused on discovering this feature isn't available. Critical in creating regular reports in Excel using data exported from accounting software. The client is currently on Quickbooks (which has this feature) and I can't move them until this feature is added.

Very essential for accountants to demonstrate the completeness and query if the submitted reports are correctly coded compared to the other years. We request you more than 1000 times if needed, please include this essential feature in all the reports as an option to include or omit Account numbers with Zero balance. Note: Most of the other accounting softwares has this beautiful features and it will save lots of time in reconciling and comparing individual accounts, sometimes can make accountants Crazy and glue to the seat... More productive hours will be wasted in the absence of this feature, infact will demoralise a good professional who can otherwise effectively devote time to train many future accountants. In fact, Xero software rating will improve drastically with this additional feature. The recent report improvement is an addition and expecting this feature will be provided in the near future. Please note you have given the option to include or omit for Account transaction but the same not given for reports especially Profit & Loss account, Balance Sheet, etc. which are in fact used by the operations manager for decision making purposes.
I hope this will be added in the near future, being a big fanatic and enthusiast of Xero user, will not be left with disappointment I believe. -

I would love this. I tried to click "critical" but page said I must login first, and at the top of the page, it says I am logged in :(

After all these years, and all these reports of the critical need for nil balances to be reported, and we still don't have a resolution?
-
Chris Curlett commented
It is normal for Xero to ignore suggestions by Users. Look at all the suggestions where there are over 500 supporters however Xero ignore it or provide a sanctimonious response.

I can't believe this isn't a key function already. Demonstrating that a balance sheet account balance IS actually 0 when it's supposed to be is critical. We shouldn't have to explain to our clients "oh if you don't see it at all that means it has a 0 balance."
It's insane to me that people have been asking for this for over a year now and nothing has been done.
