Hannah - Admin Xero, said there would be an update after the older versions of reports were retired on 31 July 2023, and this thread would be updated. So fair, 2 years later there is no update on this thread. This is such a necessary feature when you would like a staff member to manage something like debtors and access reports to do so, without letting them see bank balances and info which includes things like staff salary payments. Come on Xero, give this request some air!

I agree with Ricky Baesa, Linda P and Millicent Gietzmann.
I have an SME and I urgently need more variation on the user permissions to allow staff to invoice and print statements, but not see any other financial information.

Can we please have an update on this? 31 July 2023 was almost 2yrs ago!

Invoice Only Users should not see the the financial report nor the the full data of AR and AP Aging, however, they should be able to see ONLY those invoices and bills they have created. With this, the Invoice Only User will NOT see other users inputs which may be confidential but can see ONLY their own drafts and its status.

Xero - please can we have an update on this. As requested by many Users this will be a useful change. We would like Admin team members to be able to run AR and AP reports and specified Account Transaction reports (not all) without being able to run other reports such as P&L and Balance Sheet.

I think this is super important for companies looking to offload administrative work without giving full access to team members. Team members should be able to pull A/R and A/P reports without being able to pull profit and loss reports, for example.

As a fact, Xero is not used anymore just by Business owners. SME's are also using Xero since it became more advance from when it started some years ago.
"Staff managing day to day tasks" DON"T NEED accesses to financial reports. Financial Reports (FR) are CONFIDENTIAL information, which shouldn't be allowed to be accessed by "people doing day to day tasks", Only authorised people should have access to FR. It's time for XERO to introduce NEW USER type since it is used by so many SMEs.

CONFIDENTIALITY of FR should be ON TOP of XERO's priority. We shouldn't wait for years for confidentiality to be implemented. An Accounts Receivable AR or Accounts Payable AP user (AR/AP USER ) with access to AR/AP reports EXCLUDING FINANCIAL REPORTS should be implemented IMMEDIATELY for confidentiality reasons. This is very, very important!!!!

Xero team, what's the status on this? We've been waiting for years. This is a critical feature that is needed.

It would be useful if a feature was added so that when granting access to users you can choose which reports they have access to. At the moment, in order to give any member of a business access to see any report they may need or find useful they will also have access to view far more intrusive reports like full Profit & Loss reports and Balance Sheets. A current situation we are trying to deal with is that our client would like one of their managers to provide them with estimated figures for specific expenses in order for them to be able to forecast better but they do not want their manager to be able to see full P&Ls for the company so the manager has no method of viewing specific costings for a particular period.

This is important to our clients, your customers. Clients do not want to share all business and emplolee details with all there users

For me this is the frustrating part of Xero as a small business owner. That is any staff member who has standard access has full financial access to the business itself, how it is going, profit and loss, well everything. Not being able to limit the reporting access is just not good.

User permissions - Restrict view for users
Standard users who enter invoices and bills should be able to have permission to see Aged Receivable & Aged Payable reports only & should not be permitted to see other reports like the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet & Trial Balance

This is our first year to use XERO and our organisation will be audited by external auditors. We will plan to give the auditors the "Read Only" Access to see our XERO reports and transactions.

However, there is Budget Reports that we do not want the auditors to view.

Please, make it possible to limit this access.

First brought this to Xero’s attention some 12 years ago……they have made it clear that it is not a priority. Too difficult & unable to justify the cost involved.
GDPR? What’s wrong with a purchase or sales ledger clerk having access to ALL reports and data about their co-workers, boss, company performance etc? As bosses, we love having to run and provide appropriate basic reports for our teams. They love waiting for us to do this because as it happens, we aren’t tapping our fingers wondering what to do next!

Was and still is, an unbelievable floor in this ‘approved’ software.

Xero - is there any official update on this?? or are you just ignoring everyone in the hope this will go away?? This is an absolute necessity ... I have clients that won't move to Xero because of this specific issue.

Come on XERO this is really a basic in all accounts system other than you.

204 users and growing would like it so why ignore them in favor if the new Invoicing system that is causing so much consternation.

FIX WHAT IS NEEDED BY USERS BEFORE EMBARKING ON SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WANTED.

Come on, Xero. This is a basic request. We want a user role that can access certain reports without having to give access to the bank accounts. It's not an unreasonable request.

This will not only reduce the reporting deadlines pressure on Finance teams, but letting Finance teams concentrate on making sure the data is up-to-date while removing the unnecessary work/turnaround time of repeated preparation of multiple reports to management on a monthly or adhoc basis.
