AU Payroll - Specify leave approver
Ability to specify a set approver for a specific employee for when they submit leave requests.
Employees who are nominated as a leave approver should only be able to approve leave for the specific employees who have them nominated as their approver.
Alternatively, employees who have the "Authorised to Approve Leave" checkbox ticked should only be able to approve leave by employees in the same Employee Group.
Only payroll admins should be able to approve leave for all employees.

This would be invaluable! Currently we have multiple accountants, a bookkeeper, business partners, etc. all in the list as approvers - when only one person actually needs to get the email. Being able to just have the one approved person for that specific employee would make things so much easier - especially for onboarding new employees.

The ability to have a two tiered leave approval process would be extremely helpful, so the Supervisor approves the annual leave first and then the Manager/Director/CEO confirms its ok.

Not only the option to specify leave approval for each employee, but as my previous post that there should also be a box to select if the payroll admin is also authorised to approve leave. The current option can give e.g. in an accounting firm who there could be up to 5 staff members with payroll admin access to be able to approve leave. clients don't like this idea as there could be more than 5 users to choose from when a leave request is submitted for approval. can Xero look into adding a box to select for payroll admin user access.

Employees who have the "Authorised to Approve Timesheets" checkbox ticked (similar to Leave approver) should be able to approve Timesheets regardless of Payroll Admin status.B) have a "Checked" Status before full approval and finalisation of Timesheet that occurs with "Approved" status
So one manager can approve the "times" entered and a second manager can complete "pay rates". Specifically important for "Start & Finish Time" timesheets in businesses with complicated State Awards -

This would be great if Xero can do. We have program managers in charge of certain staff, if it was set for them to approve their team plus have overall setting for CEO & board to approve if that program manager was away.
Also be great as we have an Accountant with access to the payroll settings so they can access the payroll reports but they shouldn't have access to approving timesheets, leave, etc. It would be an extra security step for Xero to implement. -

Provide option for managers to approve timesheets for those in their department, whilst not viewing employees from other departments. Right now if I give timesheet approval access, my managers can view all employees, but I would like them to just see their own employees.

Set timesheet & leave approvers for employees.
When an employee creates a timesheet or leave request, the person who is to approve this should be able to be set within the employees payroll set up, to ensure the correct person/manager receives the approvals

Would be ideal that all payroll admins should have an option to approve leave. currently as a bookkeeper in a firm, we have several accountants/bookkeepers that have payroll admin access and clients would like to have the list of approvers for leave to exclude users that should not be approving leave. In other words users such as accountants/bookkeepers in firms should not be shown as leave approvers. currently there is no option for this and we are having our clients requesting the removal. maybe this could be something that Xero should be looking at, the only option available is for employees that can be authorized not payroll admins.

This would also prevent employees who are authorised to approve leave from approving their own leave.
This is a significant authority issue that no-one should be able to self approve. -

We definitely require this function. We have multiple teams and team leaders and we need to be able to specify the leave 'approver' for each employee.

I agree the tick box is a good idea! The long list of approvers confuses employees when they submit the timesheet or leave request.

This would be a great feature, please for NZ Payroll as well.
It is important also that The Leave approval for the group have full payroll access to their group. i.e Leave transactions report, leave balance, payment history etc.

Add a tick box to the Payroll admin user so an admin user doesnt appear in the Xero me as an approver for the timesheet.
Example: The accounting practice have multiple staff with payroll advisor access. All of these staff in the accounting practice are coming up as a selection in the approval person list in xero me as the employee submits their time sheet. Can we untick or remove the staff from the approval list without compromising their access from an accounting practice level?
