New Invoicing - Show Branding theme on an approved invoice
With the new invoicing the branding theme is not available which is an important feature for us since for different clients we had different branding theme. Can this be added to the new invoicing system? Please refer to the attached. We cannot switch to this new invoicing if branding them is not added and it seems in September we will not have a choice. Clicking on edit invoice is not a solution. This info was available with the old system without clicking edit invoice
Understand the sentiment and urgency in wanting this feature available. We've just released an update so now you can view the branding of an invoice when viewing. This is visible on invoices with Awaiting Payment and Paid status 🙂
Thanks for your feedback and staying across the progress with us here.

Hi Kelly, we need this feature. The Branding Theme is critical. If you can't commit to keeping it, then please allow us to continue to use the current Invoicing. I feel Xero is extremely arrogant to think that taking away a feature is a benefit to it's users.
There will be many many users who haven't tried the new Invoicing as yet, and if you don't listen to those of us who are trying it now in the hope that we can check it's functionality will work and have discovered things missing now you are going to have a lot of very disapointed customers who are going to give you a headache. Let alone the bad publicity and growth of lack of trust in your product and the logic behind the way you make decisions on a platform that works perfectly well for the user currently.
Please listen to those of us who are actually helping Xero to avoid a disaster - if we can't be sure we are sending an invoice/packing slip/correct invoice to the correct company then why would we use Xero at all?
I'll look forward to your response.
Warm regards

The new invoicing system overall is a lot messier and hard to guide clients over the phone to where everything is located on the screen to edit the branding and also add attachments etc (same in bills).

Being able to see the branding of an invoice is important for us as an allied health practice - we need to show details for the specific therapist that has provided services to the client.
Having to edit or preview every invoice is a tedious process that allows mistakes to easily slip through. -

You need to leave the branding theme with Invoicing please.
We need to know if we are sending a Packing Slip or an Invoice. We don't get paid if we send a Packing Slip in error because you have removed our only way of telling which is via the Branding Theme field which is easy to see when we send an invoice out and easy to change if it's not correct.
Please put the Branding Theme field back before the September roll out other wise what's the point of using Xero? -

Yes please - why drop off such simple functionality Xero?

The new invoicing needs to show "The Branding Theme" field so that we know if we are sending an Invoice or a Packing Slip. Often you have to go and change an order and then create a Packing Slip - but with the new Invoicing you then can't tell what status the Invoice is in when it is sitting in "Awaiting Payment" status.
Because of this I am not using the new Invoicing and I've gone back to Classic as this is too dangerous as a business not to know if you are sending an Invoice or a Packing Slip as we need to be paid, and if we send a Packing Slip we certainly won't be paid.
Please get this resolved before you release the new invoicing.
Many thanks!

Where is the branding? We move from sales confirmations to invoicing and different discount terms to different levels of customer. Now before I send the final invoice, I have to "edit" it to verify correct branding?
Only plus so far to new invoicing: the "sent" check box on screen is nice as having to remember to uncheck the default "mark as sent" box when emailing was a pain; it would have been better as a user chosen preference on original invoicing

This is a real problem for us too. We issue repeating monthly subscriptions invoices and have different branding themes depending on whether a customer pays direct or via Go Cardless. Not being able to see this information at a glance is a real pain, particularly when payments are late. I'm now wasting time going in to edit invoices (which then show in the History as having been edited, btw, even if nothing has changed - which is not a helpful audit trail).
I have been putting off switching to the new invoicing but now Xero are pushing it and automatically sending us to that version. First time using it today and I'm already missing a key data field that for some reason has been left off the "improved" version! But hey, lots more of the lovely white space?!
As someone still battling with the "improved" layout of the contacts screen (talking to a customer this morning and not seeing that a credit note had been applied to an invoice, because it's not shown!), I'm really wondering what user-testing Xero are doing... As far as my clients and I are concerned, they are currently creating problems where there were none. At the same time, key functionality improvements - like providing for multiple bills against single purchase orders - are not being addressed.
Sorry for the rant. Frustrated!

I agree. This is incredibly annoying now not seeing the branding them when viewing an invoice. We use multiple branding themes for different customers.

This is really essential for us - we have different bank accounts showing on our different branded invoices. Giving the customer the wrong bank details causes usa big headache to sort out.

We use this feature in 3 steps -
1) When I raise an invoice I set it to branding theme "delivery note".
2) My dispatcher downstairs to go into the invoice, adds the courier tracking info into the document, mark the goods as "sent" and then prints off the delivery note to send to the customer with the parcels.
3) Once shipped, I then go back in to the invoice, change the branding theme to "invoice" and then send the invoice to the customer.
I therefore know that :
Invoices marked as "awaiting payment, unsent, branding theme Delivery Note" have not yet been shipped.
Invoices marked as "awaiting payment, sent, branding theme Delivery Note" have been shipped, but not yet invoiced.
Invoices marked as "awaiting payment, sent, branding theme Invoice" have been shipped AND invoiced.Without this feature I have no idea what status anything is at !!!!

We need to be able to see the branding theme at a glance when invoices are approved. Come on, Xero, this can be a big ask!

Absolutely essential.
Xero should not be taking away features when "upgrading" all you are doing is pushing us to the opposition. -

This is vital for us - we have different bank accounts showing on our different branded invoices. Telling a customer the wrong bank details causes us all sorts of problems.

Hi Kelly, really need Xero to put it in your direct plans - this really impacts our workload. It seems many of the Xero 'new features' are actually not great new features, please consider asap! Thank you

Lianne Wallace commented
Oh dear. This will increase our workload for our team on a daily basis. Please keep us updated if this changes before the forced roll out. We work from branding to identify which subset each invoice relates to. Looks like we'll have to 'pretend edit' every time we follow up on payment for an invoice or get follow up for a bill to get the information we require to correctly action them.

For me "branding" is not about the logo, or business unit, it is about the invoice layout, e.g. is this an invoice with quantities or without. Some work is hourly charge up, some is fixed fee, and sometimes the invoice is percent complete so hiding the layout setting is not just annoying - it is potentially dangerous if I send an invoice out showing the wrong sort of information.

Being able to show & edit the branding theme is critical to us, please put this back as part of the features of the new invoicing, otherwise you will be making it very time consuming for our small business going forward

Lianne Wallace commented
Yes absolutely essential to our 3 Orgs too!

Agree this is critical for us across our 3 Xero Orgs too. I wonder why Xero insist on 'improving' by removing existing features?....
