    Its just getting worse..... I was just raising a 4 line invoice in classic (i only use classic as new is not fit for purpose).

    When I finished entering all the info, I pressed APPROVE and thought I was done.

    But then my production called me and said they cant find my invoice. After hunting for it, I found that my invoice had somehow converted itself into an autosave draft in new invoicing format; and was in the draft folder, MISSING 2 LINES !!!

    No idea how or why this happened, but now I'm going to have to check every single "approved" invoice, every time, to make sure it has actually saved in the proper way, with all of it's lines intact.

    XERO - please stop screwing around with our lives!

    Autosave is NOT a feature that we want. I regularly open an invoice just to check a price or give a customer a quick verbal quote over the phone so that I don't have to do maths in my head. Autosave means I will have at least 20 or 30 false draft invoices saved every day that I do not want, and I will now have to allocate time to separating them from the real drafts i do want, and delete off the false ones.

    Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.

    We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…

    No idea what has changed, but the last couple of days, every time I download an invoice, it saves a copy into my download folder as usual (perfect!) HOWEVER it then also opens the acrobat PDF program and loads an open file on my screen.

    This is SO BLIMMING ANNOYING! How can I stop them for auto-opening!?!? I now have to use extra clicks to close the PDF viewer EVERY TIME. Please fix this urgently!

    Simply put, classic invoicing was fine, new invoicing is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!

    Classic invoicing was fast to use, all data I needed was clear to see, Never had a problem.

    New invoicing is horrendous!

    Until all of these issues are fixed, it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to use new invoicing.

    1) Copy invoice does not copy over contact details - when I copy, I want to copy EVERYTHING exactly per the original, including the contact!

    3) Item Code missing - there is a whole separate threat for just this issue. We physically CANNOT use new invoicing until Item Code has been re-instated as per classic invoicing. We do not use descriptions, our company runs on items codes only.

    4) Why is the Tax code hidden? I need to check see this at a glance for every line, just like on classic invoicing.

    5) Why is the account code hidden? I need to check see this at a glance for every line, just like on classic invoicing.

    6) TOO MUCH WHITE SPACE. I now have to scroll for miles. I need to see everything at a glance on one screen, just like on classic invoicing.

    7) I never use xero to email my invoices. I either download the PDFs and email them myself through outlook, OR I have to upload them into various customers online portals. The approve & send must be changed back to approve only.

    I have no idea what we will do if these are not fixed before September.....

    We appreciate wanting to see more rapid movement, everyone. Having done a lot of exploration into this area our team have a good handle on the needs to solve this, however we want to be honest that development will be some time away with the team currently focused on improving bills list views and updating add/edit bill pages. For the time being to keep you up to date we're going to move this idea back to Submitted until more active work takes place for this.

    I can assure you this idea is the best place to be leaving feedback for this feature, and Xero Product Ideas as a whole is the best place to be sharing where you'd like to see change across Xero products. As a community team we're advocating on your behalf constantly to see where ideas can be worked on, and this site is where our product…

    @Chris Curlett - unfortunately it's not 7 months..... I have been voting for this feature for the last 12 years. They deleted the old version of the forum with the old thread on it. So I would not hold your breath.

    Thanks for sharing and showing interest in how we can develop user roles to suit your needs when using Xero. 

    With many varying ideas for roles and permissions in different areas of our products, user roles impact all areas of the product. There are many factors we must consider when addressing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.

    We’re in the process of conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. This being one of our highest voted ideas surrounding roles is a specific focus for the team. too. 

    Discovery of this work is its first stages and will be long running. There will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.

    Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.

    We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your interests and sharing on the idea here. Being totally open, we don't have plans in the near term for any change that'd solve for the idea here. This may be something we consider down the line and will keep the idea here open to continue monitoring.

    For the time being, we wanted to share a way you can remove links from the customer statement using a custom branding theme that you'd apply when sending a statement.

    Once the new branding theme is created, you can select it when printing or sending the customer statement, and the invoice link will be removed.

    Appreciate your feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing improved to create more efficiency processing sales with Xero. There are a couple of different requests around defaults looped into this one idea that would be good to unpick and keep separate so we can keep you updated on any progress for each individually. 

    For interest around being able to set a default for the 'Approve and Send' button - There's an idea that's been started for this here that I'd recommend joining.
    Kathy, your recent comment sounds more like the ability to be able to send invoices to a contact group with new invoicing - we totally get the interest in this too and have an idea for this here that you can follow.

    Hi everyone, to keep you updated on this idea work in this space will provide the ability to add a new blank row to your invoice one at a time. Once added you'll also have the ability to drag and drop the row to where you'd like it placed in your invoice, which we know some customers use to help format their invoices and space lines out.  

    I appreciate that some customers have mentioned wanting to add multiple blank rows at once, and want to be open that this isn't planned with this release.

    Being under development atm, we plan to have this to you all before classic invoicing is retired and I'll be back as soon as it's out to let you know, here.

    Thanks to everyone that participated in and shared back on the team’s research in the new invoicing layout. Taking your feedback on board our teams have made some improvements to the layout of new invoicing, including changes to the layout of fields and buttons.
    By rearranging and condensing space between fields, you’ll find there is less white space than previously shown, making it easier to navigate and tab through fields when entering your invoices.

    We’re actively looking into changes within the invoicing grid that’ll go further to condensing information on the screen and reducing actions when entering your invoices. We’ll update as there is more information to share on this.

    Thank you for your on-going input and attention to the idea here, everyone.

    We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.

    I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.

    For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

    Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to. 

    We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.

    Thanks for your continued engagement with us on this idea, everyone. We understand there are many different ways business work and conduct business with customers, and that you need more flexibility in the way you manage and receive payments for invoices with Xero. While pockets of research have been done in the past we’re getting a fresh lens and conducting a broader piece of discovery to deeply analyse and understand where our efforts could be focused in this space to alleviate existing hurdles in receiving payments for majority of Xero users. We’d like to open the invite to be a part of our teams research pool, where you’d get the chance to share more on the importance of managing payments for your business.     Definitely need this! Our company cannot use the xero quoting system, because otherwise our sales people have access to all sorts of things that they should not be able to see/do.

    So we currently use a WORD template / PDFs for creating quotes, then once an order comes in, I have to manually duplicate it into Xero. Wastes time for both me and the sales people.

    Sales people should have access to raise quotes only.
    Finance people will then raise/edit/delete the invoices etc.

    So simple. Why is this still not possible?!?!?

    Appreciate the interest in being able to search by description. While we're attentive to your feedback, I want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for developing this atm.

    Hi community, we understand your needs in this feature and want to assure you were taking on board all your feedback. 

    As many of you accustom to this idea will know, multiple addresses requires a complex solution. It's been something we’ve been moving towards for some time and we’ve done a lot of back end work that will allow us to bring it to you in the future. 

    We have 12 different products within Xero that rely on contact data, as well as many of our app partners. This means that contacts need to seamlessly flow across technology, products and all connections on Xero. And that’s exactly what we’ve been working on. 

    One of the reasons we announced the retirement of classic invoicing is because many of the features being asked for, just can’t be brought into classic invoicing. The old technology has too many technology limitations to enable this.…

    As my mum used to say : "You've got 2 hopes - Bob Hope and No Hope!". lol

    I've been waiting for this update in Xero for almost 10 years (my boss won't let me move to a different programme - long story).

    Besides, even if Xero eventually do role it out, it will probably be a complete shambles like the New Reports which are not fit for purpose.

    @Benjamin Patton - this has actually been a feature request for around 7 to 9 years..... they closed their old forum and created this one, so all of the requests that have been around for years now look new. I've been using Xero for over 10 years (boss refuses to let me move to different accounts program because he thinks it would be too much time and energy, so I have learnt to suffer) and this was one of the first features i voted on years ago. It used to have hundreds of votes but this new forum is much more difficult to navigate than the last one so I'm guessing a lot of users can't find this to vote on it again... or they have just lost the will to try after so many years....

    Also, just realised that the "approved sent and paid" needs to actually be "approved sent paid AND UNPAID" !!!

    The old View recent invoices report showed both. The new version needs both also.

    Completely agree!!! I want to see the customers entire purchase history in date order in 1 click.

    I have just had a 20 minute phone call with one of the Xero support people. Sadly, there is no easy fix to this issue at the moment. You either have to

    A) spend loads of time customising the "new" report every time you use it for every customer
    or
    B) save a custom template, but again you have to customise it by changing the customer filter every time

    Both options are far too time consuming, especially when the old version was available with 1 click and took 1 second to load.

    Total farce that Xero did not think this one through. Please fix the "new" version ASAP !!!
