New Invoicing - Date picker without using "Pick another date"
Can the New Invoicing Template have a the original way to change the date instead of opening the date dropdown to then have to open the "Pick another Date" option if it's not today or yesterday.. If it was today it would already have that day selected, so why is it an option? just added extra steps to select the correct date..
Hi team, the improvements to the date selector are now live to everyone! Thank you again, for all your feedback.
Along with this change, we also recently released an update to date entry shortcuts so you can now enter the same shortcuts that you had with classic invoicing such as +0 or 't' for today's date.
With copy and paste you'll find you can copy and paste dates however these will currently need to contain a '/' or '-' between the day-month-year to appear correctly.
We appreciate there are other options when selecting dates that our customers would like to see and there are other ideas that you may also like to vote and join for updates.

It would appear that Xero are still not listening to their customers. We want the old way of picking a date, where you could tab across from who the invoice is being made out to, and simply start free-typing the date. We DON'T want to have to choose from a drop-down box, it's too time consuming.
Xero - why don't you listen to us???

Are you also re-enabling the ability to PASTE a date in the Invoice Paid Date Field section, as was previously allowed, rather than having to manually click through a date on the calender?
Manually selecting a date with the picker is time consuming and far more prone to user error.

I have also been annoyed about the changes but found that I can click in the date field and select the whole date, then over-type the date that I want e.g. 29/11/24 and tab. Or select the part I want to amend and over-type. This works.
(I have a number pad on my keyboard. Essential for accounts work.) -

The date function still needs work. A large number of invoices are dated in the past, especially considering that adjustments to AR need to be handled through invoices as journals can't be used for that account. Please reduce the number of steps to chose a custom date.

I agree - TOO many clicks to create a new invoice compared to the old invoices. The 'today or tomorrow' feature is not necessary - just revert back to the calendar drop down which was a much superior feature.

I also find the new version slow, with too many clicks. I prefer to tab from the client name to the date, and manually type in the date. The new way requires too many clicks and slows the process down.

I like how with classic invoicing the date could be chosen by clicking the calendar and scrolling. Often our invoice date isn't today or tomorrow. It may be several months in the future, or yesterday. Without scrolling we need to make multiple clicks to find the month we are looking for rather than simply scrolling through.

Please return the drop down calendar to new invoice. Please return the save/approve button to the bottom of the page. Please reduce the amount of clicks required to complete an invoice.
MAYBE JUST KEEP CLASSIC INVOICING AS AN OPTION! -

Currently new invoicing requires extra clicks to get the correct date. I need to pick a date in the past when creating invoices (usually within the last 1-2 weeks). Old invoicing allows me to do this with less clicks. Please don't make us go backwards and become less efficient!

I really wish we could have the option of whether we use the classic invoicing or the new invoicing. I keep trying the new, but switch right back to classic because the new slows me down and makes creating large item invoices unbearable to do

Hi.
Can we have a yesterday button?If you are operating on a +1 day (tomorrow), why not -1 (yesterday)? I've never raised an invoice for tomorrow.

Why can't we just write the date in ie 30 9 then tab as it was. Incredibly annoying when you're adding monthly invoices for clients and there are extra unnecessary clicks.

Please, please revert to the easy-peasy calendar view. Or at least give customers an option to default their preferred format.
The 'new' pop ups, drop downs, and then eventually 'pick another date' function is tedious at best, maddening mostly.I am at my wits end. Every day I make an effort to use 'new' invoicing. Every day I get more and more furious with it. You've had seven years - seven years!!!! - working on this, and it's an utter shambles.
Xero's commitment to "feature parity" (which is a cleverly worded way of saying you don't give a s**t about what your customers say and think, you're doing it anyway) should include improving the date selection experience, which is currently woeful.
And yes, I'm salty about this. Super salty, in fact.

Great to hear that the product team are reviewing this. Agree with the point behind what everyone is saying on this thread, the new invoicing has created an extra click for me every time I enter a non-repeating invoice, which is pretty much a daily task for me.
I truly love the benefit Xero adds to my business, but still want to see new releases enhancing that love rather than diminishing it, especially around such core functionality as invoicing.
I see it was two months ago that the date picker issue was marked for review, do you have any update from the product team on when they are going to fix this please?
