New Invoicing - History to include if invoice is resent
When an amendment is made and the invoice resent it needs to record who it has been sent to
280 votesHi community, thanks for getting involved here and letting us know the importance around being able to see the details whenever an invoice is sent from Xero. We understand the importance of this to our customers and our product team are beginning to review this idea to solve needs in this space. We'll move to Under review and I'll let you know as there's more progress here. Thanks

New Invoicing - Allow Item and Description-only lines, with no Qty or Unit Price
When choosing item code and description, I want the ability to leave the rest of the fields blank. Classic invoicing had no problems with it. The new invoicing wants to populate QTY, UNIT PRICE and AMOUNT. Makes the invoice look unappealing.

481 votesThanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't… -

New Invoicing - Add Payment details on invoice screen
When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.
328 votesHi everyone, to front foot some of the recent comments we will not be bringing back classic invoicing. With developments continuing within new invoicing, we do want to let you know that our product teams are highly engaged with your feedback and the ideas for new invoicing on the site.
We understand there's good interest in being able to add a payment directly from the invoice screen and appreciate the efficiencies expressed by customers in being able to do this. At present we're reviewing this feature and will move the idea across to Under Review. I'll be back to share more on the outcomes. Thanks

New Invoicing - Move Save button to bottom of invoice like classic
Please move the SAVE for the New invoicing to the bottom as per old invoicing. When you have an invoice with 30-50 items and then have to scroll back up to save it adds to the pressure of getting things done.
Or Better still
Leave the old there until you've got it together and your Paid subscribers are happy.
We are seriously looking at moving away from XERO due to all the changes you impose on us without proper UAT. More often than not it creates more work for us and causes more stress we just dont need in an…224 votesHi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

New Invoicing | Files - Ability to attach files before adding contact
This Function is Broken with New Invoicing - It does NOT create a new invoice with the file attached.
58 votesHi everyone, further to my recent update about our teams looking closer into the flows around attaching files to invoices, our product team have also started more research to get a better sense of our invoicing users for future improvements. We wanted to reach out to you all here to invite you to contribute through this survey. All your feedback will be deeply valuable to the team.
I’ll keep you updated on any progress around this idea specifically.

New Invoicing - Alert if the contact has available credit
In the "classic invoicing" interface an alert is displayed at the bottom of approved invoices when the contact being invoiced has existing credit that can potentially be applied to the new invoice. This is a very important feature and strangely it's missing from the new invoicing interface. With the "classic invoicing" now being officially retired this basic feature must definitely carry over to the new invoicing interface.
Without this alert, every time we create an invoice we would need to manually check if the contact has previous credit with us, which makes the process unnecessarily inefficient and unpleasant.
112 votesHi community, we appreciate all the feedback you've shared on how we can improve new invoicing for your needs.
In relation to the alert of available credit as raised in this idea, we've identified there are a few situations for Invoice only users where the available credit pop up isn't being shown. This is something we have plans to fix, and while I can't give a specific date on the idea here, we want you to know this is important to us and I'll keep you updated on progress here.

New invoicing | Billable Expense - Reorder Columns & Horizontal Scroll
In the new invoicing version, when selecting the billable expenses, I can't see the date and the supplier in one view. In order to see the date, I need to scroll to the bottom of the pop-up screen, then scroll across to the right, then try to scroll up to find the line item. I then can't see the supplier to know if that is the correct line to add. Sometimes there are 30+ billable expenses for the one client and I can't see the dates to know if I'm selecting the correct ones.
Have the date as the first…
17 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your feedback on the billable expenses window within new invoicing and trouble this can cause for currently assigning billable expenses. Our product team are exploring changes in this and we'll keep you updated of developments for this here.
As noted by some, you can currently scroll horizontally to view each column. If you have lots of items you may need to scroll to the bottom and then horizontally.

Invoicing - Use drag & drop to copy line details
Hi Xero Team , Kindly find attached file for your reference. I am sharing video file and screenshot that feature very useful for all user and copy above cell during invoice and bill generate. I am suggesting to IT team if they unlock drag and drop copy cell from above cell from mouse that feature would be very appreciated and may help to all user to easy invoicing and bill that help to time saving while enter multiple similar details in invoice or bill. I have also mentioned how to prevent accidental drag & drop cell with using ON/OFF button…
6 votesHi community, we appreciate your engagement as well as sharing attachments of your needs through the idea here. We understand the benefits this would add to your workflow and our product team are currently reviewing this capability. While we can't commit to change atm, I'll be back to let you know what comes of their review. Thanks

New Invoicing | Copy to - Purchase order
When a selecting the new invoicing platform, you lose certain functions.
The first function that has been lost is the ability to copy invoice data to a purchase order - this feature needs to added to the new platform as some business use this to purchase items that have been sold from a supplier and makes sure there are no errors.
The second function is when invoicing from Project the time entered for that project is no longer being allocated to an invoice and showing in the project as not invoiced, this will cause doubling up on billing.153 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your continued input and feedback on this feature here. Being able to copy to purchase orders and bills is something our team are monitoring feedback of closely and very much across the this idea, however there are a few other priority pieces of work that are currently of focus.
Right now, it is still possible to copy an invoice to a purchase order or bill from the list views(Draft, Awaiting approval, Awaiting Payment or Paid tabs). You'll find you can select the invoice/s and click 'Copy to...' - You can find out more detail and ways of doing things within new invoicing through our guide on Xero Central.
We'll keep you in the know here of any progress or updates for this feature.

New Invoicing - Copy invoice to keep existing email
Thank you for delivering to keep the existing contact when copying an invoice. Now when you email the invoice the email address is not populated from the contact file. You have to go and look it up to send the copied invoice.
Please refer to the contact details and pre-populate their contact email addresses.
Thanks
5 votesSorry Lynne, It's a bit hard to troubleshoot and get the detail to understand why your contacts details like email aren't coming through to your copied invoice. I've just tested this with Draft and approved invoices being copied and the email of the contact was bought through each time as expected. I'd recommend raising this with our specialist through the Contact Xero Support option in Xero Central for closer inspection.
Thanks for also checking on this, Olga - that message on defaults application is related to the Sales defaults saved against inventory items or the contacts record but doesn't apply to the contacts personal details. These should be applied when copying an invoice.
To explain a little more - The reason defaults aren't automatically applied is because the line item fields will be prefilled with the information from the existing invoice that the new one is copied from.
We understand…

New invoicing - Send invoice via sms from laptop
I like to be able to send an invoice to both email and SMS at the same time from both laptop and phone
2 votesThanks for sharing how we can improve sending via SMS for your business use. This is something our team ave started exploring, so we'll keep you updated of any news of being able to send both SMS and email at once, here.

Export invoice
A feature to export the status of outstanding invoices/overview in PDF Format. Currently its only available on Excel format.
2 votesWould this be so you can get the Overdue by column, Kristel? If that column isn't really a concern, you could run the Receivable Invoice Summary report atm and filter this by Status = Approved to get all but the Overdue by column. This report can be exported to Excel, Google Sheets or PDF.

New invoicing - copy to bill
Give sales invoices the ability to create self-billing contractor bills - the same as billable expenses but for the the sales side, rather than the purchase side. I produce high vol royalties where the suppliers(producers) do not physically bill, but we need to raise the charges directly in line with the sales received. Massively labour intensive and could be fixed with this function.
54 votesHi everyone, to give a bit more detail from our status update a few months ago - The ability to copy to a bill is a feature that the team will be building into the new invoicing experience. They have a few items on their agenda and I want to be open that this is not planned to be delivered until after the sunset of classic invoicing.
For the time being, you'll find you can still copy to a new invoice, quote, purchase order or bill from the invoices list view.
You can get a bit more of an understanding of what's coming from our Xero central page. When there's more news on copy to a bill I'll share this, here.

Reporting Section under Ideas
Financial reporting is a critical business need of any business using software. Its strange that Xero dont have this as a catagory under Small business ideas. Can we add "Reports" as a catagory. Xero is poor compared to quickbooks now so need to udnerstand if its ever going to change or whether we need to move. I will only be able to gauge this if there are lots or zero user ideas on reporting (perhaps its only me that thinks its "ok but not great"
1 voteThanks for submitting your idea here, Robert. Appreciate where you're coming from. Right now, the structure of product ideas categories is similar to the blue navigation within your Xero org so we typically have reporting ideas under Accounting features. Understand how it mightn't be the most intuitive design atm though and this is something that we're considering making updates to. I'll keep you looped in on any change for this here. 😊

Inventory - Increase all item prices by a percentage
An option to increase the price for ALL products in the database by a percentage.
12 votesHi community, our product team have started exploring some improvements in inventory in Xero with the ability to bulk update the sales price of inventory items by a percentage being one they've set their eyes on!
For now, we'll shift to Under review and I'll be back to share more when there's news 😊

Project supplier invoices
Scenario - Multiple projects open. If materials are purchased at eg a builders merchants for mutliple projects on one invoice/receipt, it's not possible to allocate the spend to individual projects which is madness. It seems that the total invoice/receipt must be assigned to ONE particular project. When materials are bought, it's often far cheaper to buy them in bulk, hence buying for more than one project at the same time. It should be possible to therefore assign individual lines on the invoice to a particular project (a bit like tracking).
4 votesHi Clare, if you're adding an expense from within a project, it's expected that the expense you're creating is related to the Project you're in. You could create a Bill within the Bills to pay area where you can assign individual lines of your bill to different Projects.

search bar
If you type a number that is used on the invoice such as a ticket number
in the search bar the invoice will come up that the ticket is on.1 voteHi Natalie, to understand a little more around your idea here. When you mention ticket number - is there specific field you'd enter this sort of information in the invoice. for example would you have the ticket number in the reference field or perhaps the description?

Invoice/Bills: Notifications - Reminder Invoice/Bill becomes due
To have an option to set up e-mail notifications to receive a report when an invoice payable becomes due
Purpose: To easily be reminded when invoices/bills due through email.
204 votesHi team, we appreciate the attention this idea has received and do want to share that while we aren't directly developing at this stage, notification and being able to collaborate on bills is something our team are currently looking into.
We can't provide any promises right now, but we wanted to loop you all in on news. Once the teams research has concluded and we have a better sight on what can be done in this space I'll return to update you all, here. Thanks

Xero to Xero - Send the attached files on the invoice
When sending invoices from Xero to Xero it doesn't attach the actual invoice in the draft bill as an attached so we don't have this invoice for record keeping purposes and can't even see if there's VAT or No VAT charged on the invoice as it is not attached to the bill. This needs to be added.
9 votesThank you for all sharing how we could keep improving your use of Xero and it's features. For those that haven't explored yet - we recommend considering if eInvoicing can serve your needs in this space. It's available now and incorporates even more functionality than Xero to Xero offers.
As we're developing new invoicing, our product team are looking at development to build the Xero to Xero network into new invoicing as well as considering enhancing it's functionality by allowing customers to include attachments when using this feature to send invoices. Right now we'll move to Under review and I'll be back when there's more news on this to share with you all.

Projects - Assign bills to closed Projects
As an event company, we often receive bills months after the original project is "complete". I wish I could assign costs to "complete" projects the same way that I can assign invoices to "complete" projects.
35 votesHi Leah, when you've closed/completed a project it is still possible to add Bills and new Expense tasks to it.
From the bill you'll be able to look up and assign lines of your Bill, or within the project you can simply add an expense. The only transactions you can no longer add once closed are Billable expenses, Spend monies and time entries.
Is there a specific reason you need to enter the expense as one of these type of items?
