AU Payroll: Track who approves leave requests and timesheets
As with the financial side in Xero and their history and notes section, it would be very useful to be able to track who has approved leave or timesheets in Xero Payroll. We need site on which manager has approved the leave application or timesheet to mitigate any risk of the wrong people approving these.

Payroll: Report to Breakdown annual leave and leave loading
Can we please have a report that will breakdown annual leave and leave loading. When there is a lot of employees that take leave for a quarter is time consuming to have to drill down into each employee to work out the leave loading to ensure that the SGC amount is reconciled.

AU Payroll : Allow net pay field to be highlighted in Pay Employees screen
It appears that in the last two weeks (submitted 23/2/2022) Xero rolled out a change to payroll, which possibly has some unforeseen implications.
It used to be that if you were only paying a small number of employees at one time, you could use the summary screen (capture attached) to copy and paste the net pay figure for each employee to your online banking portal to effect the actual payment(rather than exporting to a file, and then importing the file to the online banking which is a little clunky for small number of employees - there doesn't exist the same sort of one click export for this as does with Bill Pay). In the past this was simple, you just select the number in the net pay column and copy-paste. Now it appears that when you try to select the net pay number, the entire row instead acts as a giant hyperlink to that employees pay detail (i believe previously you had to click specifically on the employees name to access this page). This feels like a step backwards, with no benefits, but real disadvantages for some. Just let us know if unclear or this requires further clarification.

AU Payroll: Set up automatic superannuation without bank feeds
Recently, Xero implemented a security feature such that automatic superannuation can only be paid out of an account with bank feeds set up. This is not a problem for businesses whose automatic super was set up prior to the change, or whose bank account is with a banking service which allows for easily set up bank feeds not subject to disruptions.
However, businesses who need to pay super from accounts that aren't so easy to get bank feeds for are kinda screwed.
I have a client who needed to change bank accounts, uses one of the banks that are a pain to set up bank feeds with, and I only found out when it came time to pay their monthly super bill that I couldn't do it through automatic super any more. Fortunately, we pay monthly (to smooth out cashflow) instead of the minimum required quarterly, so I have extra time to sort this out. But other people aren't so lucky.

Payroll: Accruable earnings pay item
Accrued Earnings Payroll item in Payroll
We need to record a Project Incentive Payment as an accrual on payslips. These accruals vary per project with some accrued hourly, daily or weekly and are paid at the end of the project.
The Accrued Earnings payment would be setup in Payroll Settings, with a running total displayed on payslips.

AU Payroll - Show timesheet & leave hours on same page
Would we please be able to see staff leave at the same time when entering timesheets?
This would be beneficial to see both when approving timesheets instead of opening up two screens.

AU Payroll: Superannuation - Export Processed Super payments to Excel
When receiving a superannuation bounce back amount, it would be really great to be able to click into a Superannuation Payment Details batch that has been processed and export to Excel, to be able to search and calculate totals to match the bounced back super.

AU Payroll - Setting up Non Employees contact
Now that you have a function to create a Non-employee SubContrator who is paid Superannuation only here are some suggestions as currently it is a very labout intensive and manual process especally since STP2
- ability to populate the contractors details eg address, email, phone number from their Contact as they have been paid for an invoice via Bills
- pay items that alows you to enter the invoice value so the super is calculated - at present, new STP does not allow you to trick the system anymore so 10.5% SG has to be manually calculated
- ALLOW SPACES IN ABN field - so annoying when you cut and paste from ABR Lookup website that do have spaces - it chops off the last 3 digits
- ABN field with a link to ABR look up website
- link to the invoie super is being paid on so there is not chance of a keyoing error when mannually calucating the super

Payroll: Expand columns on Pay Employees screen
In pay employees, add pay run the column last edited isn't wide enough to show the full description. It would be helpful to be able to read the whole description of when the entry was last edited. It would also be helpful to know who entered and edited the pay entry.
If new staff are in training and have completed the data entry but are nervous to speak up if an error was found/made knowing exactly who entered it would help to educate that staff member no what might have gone wrong.1 vote -
Pricing plan | AU Payroll - Pricing per Employee
Payroll per employee pricing should be available because some clients only use Xero payroll so no point getting a premium 5 subscription if they aren't going to use the features beside payroll.

AU Payroll - Calculate a fixed net salary
When negotiating salaries It can be beneficial to express an amount net of tax and super. Xero does not calculate this other than imputing different amounts of gross wages to achieve a net figure close to required net amount.
Maybe something you could add to future upgrades.6 votes -
UK Payroll - Automatically update Employee salary
If a pay increase is implemented across the board then currently, the only way to amend employees salary amount is to enter each record manually. If you have a large number of employees this is extremely time consuming.
If a salary scale was used and assigned to employee records, it could be uplifted by a percentage and all records would automatically update.

AU Payroll - Ability to have official name field in the employee details
Hi,
We have a few employees in our organisation that have an official Chinese name, but also a Western name that they se day to day and are know by..
So all their ID is in their official / original name - and this is what the ATO and Super funds know them by - yet everyone else, including peers and external clients will know and refer to them in their chosen western names.
This presents several issues within Xero:
- when we enter them in Xero in the employee details tab by their name in use, the Super fund rejects our payment to their fund.
- when we enter them in Xero under their official name, Projects/ time entries and invoicing has them under their official name that clients don't know them as.
- it also complicates things for us internally when compiling employee details for reports and payroll etc, in that those official names aren't familiar to anyone..this original vs western name issues needs to be resolved!!...
Perhaps by having an "official name" field in the employee details tab, so that the ATO and Super Funds can be satisfied, and yet employees can be known to us and clients (in time entries and invoices!) under their name in use.
Thanks.

UK Payroll - Custom periods for P11s
We have requested Downloadable P11's to be made available so we can correct a mistake a previous Xero payroll provider made.
This is not available in Xero which is causing considerable inconvenience and a lot more manual work. This would be a really good idea if this was brought into the payroll package.

NZ Payroll | Employee - Set up as a 'Casual' employee
It would save a lot of errors if you had an employment type option where once 'casual' was selected as a type, you could only then enter what was needed for casual staff and leave/holiday pay would automatically change accordingly. I have anumber of clients who, when entering new casual staff, inadvertently add hours per day and days per week which then starts the accrual of annual leave and unless they tick the little box under holiday pay, the employee is not paid their 8%.
5 votesHi team, great to get your feedback and support through the idea here. We appreciate these challenges with the current functionality when setting up a casual employee. We’ve started some work around enabling Xero customers to select Employment Types such as casual. While in early stages at present we’ll keep you updated on progress for this here.

UK Payroll - Automatically update tax code
If I run the payroll on say the 22.07 and then a P6 arrives effective from say 25.07 it wouldn't be updated automatically. Surely it should be updated regardless of whether the date relates to a previous period or not? This frequently happens. I can't think of an example of when you wouldn't want the tax code to update automatically?

UK Payroll - Show full salary and YTD earnings
Before the update there were two greyed out boxes, when hovered over revealed the employee full salary and earnings to date - this was very handy when the salaries are based on an hourly rate. Where has this function gone? and can we have it back please.

UK Payroll: Include student loan calculation on summary reports
Student Loan Tax Calculation
Xero tax sets out the calculation of Income tax and NIC very well.Unfortunately, the system is obscure in relation to displaying the calculation for Student Loan Tax which is important for an increasing number of young people coming into financial maturity.
We need to provide adequate assurance both to them and the increasingly aggressing Student Loan Company to avoid penalties and unexpected bills.
I request that Xero includes a breakdown of the calculation on the Summary computation report.
This would add a great deal of assurance and quality control for both our young clients and the Student Loan Company.

AU Payroll - Do not update historical payslips when new leave balances are added
We recently had an employee which had a leave type reinstated after a period of over 12 months of it not being used. There was a balance sitting in there for the duration of time that it wasn’t active, and therefore not showing on any payslips that were provided to the employee or filed. We are now in a position that we had to reactive this leave type to be in line with STP requirements and showing leave loading on a separate line. When we reactivated this leave type, ALL payslips for the period of over 12 months were updated to show this accrued balance (so they no longer reflect what was provided to the employee at the time of payment or what was filed). We understand where the figure came from, (the balance should been cleared at the time of payout, however the leave type in payout was coded elsewhere to another AL and therefore the balance remained in this one), however historical data on payslips should not be amended in anyway. Put simply its illegal to make changes to a payslip after its been issued to an employee. This balance should not of shown in the leave tab within in the employee, and future payslips (if not rectified), but should be changing prior payslips after the fact. in summary, all historical data should be locked so that nothing can be amended after filing/providing to the employee.
