  1. I would suggest that a QR code can be placed somewhere in the workplace and it can be scanned with the Xero Me app for start and stop times. This way the employees needs to be onsite with their phones to do this. With the way it is now, any start time or finished time can be entered, relying on an honesty system.

  3. What I need is for it to look like the Payroll Employee Summary, but with additional columns for Annual & Personal leave taken and the value of that leave.

  4. The ability to assign earnings rate to day of the week so a timesheet automatically uses the correct earnings rate and can't be changed by employee.

    Eg Saturday timesheet is pre- filled with the Saturday earnings rate.

  6. STP reporting - Super for employees with OTE above the maximum contribution base. ATO STP guidance allows employers to report EITHER Super Type L (the YTD SUPER liability for each employee) OR Super Type O (The YTD OTE for each employee). For employees earning OTE above the maximum Contribution base the correct STP reporting category to use is Super Type L. I have not been able to find how to set up the Super Category Type L in Xero.   8. Currently, Xero does not have the feature to assign certain working days for part time employees. This becomes very frustrating when doing payroll.

    For instance, an employee works Wednesday to Friday and when a public holidays falls on a Monday, Xero will allocate either all or some of the employees ordinary hours to this date incorrectly. This means we will have to manually adjust it each time.

    A simple resolution would be to set up employees to certain working days, then the public holidays would assign correctly and there would be no need to manual adjustments.

  9. When an employee onboards and doesn't have a Tax File Number (TFN) either because they are new to Australia and have just applied for one or they are under 18 and exempt. Xero should have a feature that warns you when they either turn 18 or they have passed the 28 days allowed to work without a TFN and it should automatically change their tax declaration to no TFN provided and change the tax withheld rate, until a TFN is provided.     Thanks for your idea and sharing in the forums here, Rachel.

    Consideration would need to be given to how this behaves before and after a report date or date range is set, incase running for an older period that would include transaction lines that were categorised to an archived tracking option.

    Being upfront, this isn't something we have any plans around for the time being, but we'll source interest from the community in this here, and share if there are any updates.

  11. Currently, Xero automatically assigns holiday leave to the pay period in which it falls. However, for businesses with a different pay schedule within the tax periods, (e.g., a financial period running from the 6th to the 5th of the month), such as cut off being the 28th of the previous month and paying on the 5th of the month. this can cause confusion and misalignment in holiday pay processing. Employees may receive their holiday pay in a month that doesn’t align with the leave taken, leaving them out of pocket or causing administrative burdens.

  13. The "Details" tab lists the employee's age under the "Date of birth" field.

    Having "Employed for # Years & # Months" below the "Start date" field would be handy. It would give a quick, "at a glance" look at how long someone has been employed by a business for estimating notice periods and anticipating imminent entitlement to LSL.

    Attached is what the "Date of birth" currently looks like (I've used my own name and birth year) and a mock-up of what I'm suggesting might look like.

  14. Add the ability to navigate through payroll with keyboard shortcuts. Currently tab takes you out of the input fields rather than navigating to the next available field, which is illogical from a UX perspective. It would also be beneficial to have shortcuts for 'save' and 'save and next' rather than having to navigate down and click next.

  15. NZ Payroll - update minimum wage increases automatically

    There are other payroll system they do this, and with the minimum wage requirements changing every year, there should be an automatic update or prompt to change anyone who is affected by this, to avoid the error in not paying out correctly as per the legislation,

  16. Workers Comp pay item leave accrual idea.

    There is an option to "Accrue Leave for this Earnings Rate" when setting up the WC pay item.

    What would be good is the option to accrue for AL or PL separately as this alters according to state law eg in WA, AL is accrued but not PL on WC payments.

  19. Currently the display name for payroll items doesn't extend to timesheets. So the employee sees the rate name. Really an employee should only see the display name and the rate name should be for/staff/admin/advisors. I would like to enter the default rate in the rate name as there is also no prompt in the employee file if you choose to use earnings rate to see what the rate is. You need to go back to payroll setting to check which is inefficient.

  20. Xero should deal with back dating a directorship

    As an accountants it is not unusual to only have a touch point around the year end and the client prepares the payroll. And the addition of new directors can be missed by the staff preparing the payroll.
    No HMRC guidance is that you can adjust in the next month if the directorship is in the same payroll year. Xero does not work in this scenario. You need to revert each pay run back to the start if the directorship and re run and submit and if there is a weekly pay…
