Projects integration with Receipt Bank
Hi
I would like to be able to assign the project to bills in Receipt Bank like you can with tracking categories. It is very clunky assigning in Xero. I also have a number of team members submitting to Receipt Bank and it would like them to be able to assign each bill to a project rather then me have to chase around when approving in Xero. I have queried with Receipt Bank who say they can't add it as they don;t have access to the Xero Projects API.
Thanks
1 voteHi everyone, thanks for the inputs to the idea here!
Appreciate there's a bit of confusion on the integration.
To be open, whilst we did release an API to Xero Projects in 2018, to sync some of the data requested here would require a bit more development to our API.
As much as we like the interest in this, there are a few other high priority items on our API team's roadmap at present, and this isn't currently planned.
API and integration requests are best shared across in the Xero Developer community, where we have informed experts that can keep you updated.
It looks like we have an existing idea for the ability to link bill line items via the API, I'll keep this request closed so we can get a better view of interest across in the Developer community.

BAS - Withholding Payer Number (WPN) without ABN to be accessible in Xero
Ability for a client that only has withholding payer number and no ABN to be able to lodge tax declarations or payment summaries.
Purpose: To easily comply with ATO regulations.
26 votesThanks for engaging and sharing your interest for enabling Xero to support STP and auto super for WPN payer withholders.
We want to be upfront with you all, that there are no plans to support this feature at this time. We understand this may mean looking for alternative solutions that can meet your needs at present. If there's any plans made in the future we'll communicate this through the idea here. -
Bills - Create a Supplier Statement
Ability to view supplier activity including payments & credits within a period.
Purpose: Would help with validation and reconciling of supplier accounts, especially where payments are not specific to a bill.
25 votesWe understand and value our community's enthusiasm for Supplier Statements. Our product team recently engaged directly with several of our partners and customers to provide greater insights into the needs of viewing supplier activity, and how we might provide a solution.
What we discovered was that the majority of the functionality requests for viewing supplier activity exists within Xero today. However, we haven’t done a good job in explaining where and how customers can use existing reports to complete the tasks. .
As a direct result we’ve created this help on Xero Central on some of the reports that you could use, and steps to create and export this view.
With so much change we want to help our customers re-discover Xero reporting, and you can read all about latest changes through our Blog.
Along with this there are a few product changes to make reports that support supplier… -
Fixed Assets - Revaluation
Ability to revalue an asset in Xero.
Purpose: Because some assets need to be re-evaluate. Especially for businesses that holds property with its value increasing
107 votesHi everyone, we wanted to loop back on the outcome of the survey we did. Our product team have used this feedback, and looked into building this feature but at this stage want to confirm that this work is not currently on our roadmap.
As a global business with many requests for our different regions and needs, we are not able to build everything at once.
We appreciate this is not the news you’d like around this but do want to be upfront with you all here to help you make the best decisions as needed for your businesses. If things change, we’ll communicate this with you through the idea here.

Files - Ability to upload any type of file to the library
To make the user able to upload any type of file into the library in Xero.
Purpose: To have more variety of file types that can be uploaded into Xero.
7 votesHi everyone, there’s already a pretty wide range of accepted file types available for upload, listed here. Allowing any file type to be uploaded is not best practice from a security perspective, so we need to manage the file types available. For example, the XML file type can be used to perform a variety of attacks that we want to avoid to protect our customer’s data. For that reason we don’t have any plans to make the XML file type available. If there are other specific file types that you want to see, feel free to start a new idea per file type so we can gauge demand and assess associated risk.

Lock Dates - Allocate Credit Notes to Invoices/Bills before a Lock Date
Ability to apply credit to an invoice that is issued within a lock period
Purpose: Apply credits from within a locked period to sales invoices
62 votesHi everyone, we understand why people would want to be able to apply a credit note within a locked period however we wanted to provide more context on the purpose of lock dates and reasons for the way they work at present.
Basically put lock dates prevent users making changes to the accounting records prior to the lock date. Their role is to prevent unintended changes which would alter reporting outcomes be they financial reports, VAT/GST/Sales Tax reports etc. Lock dates ensure financial data is accurate and trustworthy.
When a credit note is allocated to an invoice the allocation date is dated the later of the two documents, the first day where both exist. Credit note allocations require creating journals on both a cash and accrual basis, which is why if both the invoice and the credit note are in a locked period, the allocation can’t be done. Those journals…

Login - Don't Log Me Out/Extend Log Out Time (more than 60 minutes)
Develop the feature where Xero doesn't log user out time is extended for more than 60 minutes when it’s idle.
Purpose: Because having to log in again can disrupt users' workflow, which some users had to be interrupted as they’re also taking care of their business at the same time.
1,057 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the interest surrounding this idea, however we want to be open that we're unable to extend our log-out time past 60 minutes. Xero hold a lot of sensitive information including bank data and we're required to be as secure as online banking.
Any session information running on a web browser can potentially be stolen. If the session does not time out. You then have an infinitely long vulnerability window to session hijacking. Our best option is to keep a tight expiration window on the session cookie, and regenerate them frequently. Even setting a long timeout doesn't help with this - too long a timeout will greatly increase the risk of invasion or potentially jeopardise your personal data and the safety and integrity of the Xero application itself. This is why we maintain control of this.
If we detect there's been no activity on a page (e.g… -
SSO - Add SAML authentication support
Implementing SAML for authentication to allow businesses to manage the identities themselves such as businesses that connect their identity provider to LDAP
Purpose: Allow staff to login easier and depending on the identity provider setup securely.
37 votesHi everyone, we appreciate adding SAML authentication support to Xero is important to you all. But to be open, this is not on our team’s roadmap right now and we'll close the idea here to give clarity to anyone coming across.
As I see that some of you have mentioned Azure SSO, we have an idea for this that you can join in. Alternatively, if there's a different SSO provider that you'd like to integrate with, start a new idea.

Purchase Orders - Import / Export function
Simply formalising the blog comments from others to have Import functionality added to PO's and Xero's "if there is sufficient demand".
+1 here
4 votesWe appreciate the passion and feedback we've received from customers about the ability to import and export purchase orders.
We want to be open, that we do not have a direct plan to build export and import functionality in Purchase Order any time soon.
Our Product team in this space are currently focused on modernising our underlying technology so we can build new features, faster in the future.
To give a clear message for anyone coming across the idea, we'll close this idea.

Reporting: Aged Reports - Run in different currency
Ability to run different currencies in Aged Payable report.
Purpose: Because some organisation make their sales in a different currency, so it’s beneficial for them to run these reports using different currencies.
264 votesHi everyone, thanks for all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding aged reports in different currencies.
It seems that this idea picked up several different themes over time so we want to clarify where we’re at with this. In the past few months our product team has worked hard to improve the functionality in this area. That includes releases for totals when run in a single currency - so you can see a total of your foreign currency, and disclosures 🎉
We’ve introduced FX disclosures on the Aged Reports, which displays as a note at the bottom of your report or as an icon next to figures on the report to indicate that they include revalued foreign currency amounts to give you more flexibility. The disclosure will contain all the currency information that has been used to calculate the figures in your report. The exchange rate note will display…

Product & services - Create custom (tiered) price lists for contacts
Ability to create multiple price lists for the same inventory items, and be able to set a default for each contact.
To enable tiered pricing for different groups of customers. Would save time and require less manual checking
110 votesHi all, thank you for contributing to idea here. While our Inventory team have reviewed the idea for custom / tiered price lists in Xero, we want to be open that we do not have development planned for enabling more extensive Inventory management like this.
There are many Inventory apps that connect with Xero and offer these types of services and more - You can explore these on Xero App store. To be transparent we will update the status to not planned - If there is any change to this we will share with you here.

Organisation settings - Backup / export copy of Xero file
Ability to export copies of the Xero org data.
Purpose: Because the ability to export the copy of the Xero file data makes the user more comfortable. In case there’s incident happens.
149 votesHi everyone, we appreciate wanting the ability to create your own back of your data. For individual use, we recommend creating your own backup by exporting the relevant data from Xero - There are many areas of Xero you can export data from and we have an article that details this more.
Protecting your data is important to us. We do daily backups of customer data to safeguard against data corruption and any hosting service failure. However, these backups aren't designed to be used by individual organisations to undo/reverse data changes performed by users in the organisation.
You can read more on Security at Xero on our website.
Being transparent, this isn't something we're looking to develop for individual use ourselves. If of importance to your business, we do have some official app partners who can fulfill this need and you can explore these through our Xero App… -
Invoices - Ability to recognise future revenue
The ability to recognise future revenue from the invoice.
Purpose: To find out the future revenue, because for some businesses the invoice that they’ve issued to their customer is the revenue for the future month.
103 votesHi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to recognise revenue of a sale at a date different to that of the invoice or payment date.
While this maybe a function we look to explore in the long-term we want to be upfront that this is not something we'll be developing in the near term. In the meantime it may be best to look into connected apps that can solve for revenue recognition. We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change around this, here.

Bank Feeds - Foreign Currency Bank Feeds
Ability to set up bank feeds for foreign currency accounts.
Purpose: To save time rather than manually import the statements into Xero. And it’s beneficial for businesses who are dealing with foreign currencies.
8 votesHello everyone, thanks to those who’ve provided detail on the particular bank feeds you’d like to connect foreign currency feeds for.
Moving forward, we’re going to close this idea and encourage starting new ideas for each specific bank - This’ll make it easier for others to understand what they’re adding their support for, and enable our teams to get better insight.
As you’ve mentioned Westpac, we’ve created two separate ideas that can be joined - One for Westpac AU, and another for NZ here.
As for the CBA, you’re now able to connect your foreign currency feed into Xero - Read more on our article here for more information.
If you want other banks to connect with Xero and enable the foreign currency feeds, you can let them know that they can register their interest by filling this form here.

Reporting - Calculate COGS for Untracked Inventory items: Opening Stock + Purchases - Closing Stock
To make the profit and loss report calculation is based on Cost of Goods Sold = Opening Stock + Purchases - Closing Stock.
Purpose: To get the figures easily in P&L report by deducting the closing stock from purchases.
14 votesHi community, in the way untracked inventory in Xero works it isn't possible to automatically calculate cost of goods sold for a period in your reports.
There is a way to go about this yourself through entering Manual Journals to account for the Cost of Goods sold, and adjusting the value of inventory on your Balance Sheet.
You'll want to enter your Conversion Balances into an account that has a Current Asset type rather than an inventory type (Inventory type is reserved for use with tracked inventory in Xero and can't be coded to on manual journals).
To avoid potential taxation and reporting issues - We highly recommend contacting your accountant to check whether this is suitable for your business, or if you need additional clarification on what journals to enter. -
History and Notes - Edit and delete notes on invoices, contacts, etc.
Can we please be able to edit or delete notes on invoices?
Currently we can't delete notes, which is really annoying when I make a mistake or enter a note for the wrong invoice (and having the wrong information on a note attached to a customer's invoice means that I can't provide proper support).
On a related note, it would be great if we could cut and paste screen shots (or images in the clipboard) into a note and also use the iPhone app to attach a photo to a note. That would be really handy for including courier or…
1 voteHi everyone, although no direct change of the status here we wanted to share a recent improvement to Contacts that may be of interest.
Contacts has recently added a new feature that allows you to add additional Notes for a Contact.
When adding or editing a Contact you’ll see a new field for this at the bottom of the Contact Details section, where you can enter, edit and remove notes for a contact.
Meaning that on-going you could enter any notes that you may wish to change or remove overtime in this field. Thanks -
Offline/Online Syncing Xero Accounting Desktop Program?
I'm thinking along the lines of Dropbox. When you dont have internet connection and a file or folder is added, obviously the file is not distributed to the cloud, but when the computer gets internet access it Syncs all of its data with the cloud.
Im thinking of the same thing for Xero, if for some reason internet connection is lost, you could still use all the same functionality, then once it gets online then it Syncs all the information with the cloud.

Profit and Loss - appropriation report
Ability to generate Profit and Loss appropriation reports in Xero.
Purpose: Users can see figures of profit for a year, income tax expense, dividends paid, retained earnings from prior year.
16 votesHi everyone, currently there is an appropriation statement available to Partners in report templates for Australia. Being open we don't have plans to add this at the client level. However, you an create your own with the Blank report. You could add a schedule and pull in the appropriate accounts.
