Contacts - display unpaid invoice on top only under client/contact
Ability: Xero only displaying the unpaid invoice up top under client/contact ----- same as former Xero version - PLEASE change this back it was perfect and it is very much not userfriendly now
Purpose: quick overview of the account i.e. which invoices are unpaid and what was communicated last
Current issue: with the new changes all client invoices are displayed on top, this clutters the view and is useless information, the old invoice (old and paid) don't need to be visible on top. The current invoice status is important i.e. what is not paid. It is clutter to display all clients invoices.
Scrolling through years of invoices and then clicking onto notes to see the last correspondence is not very user friendly.
Xero had this perfectly in the former version however the client/contact 2023 had so many features removed it is cluttered and impossible to use. Also not all notes are displayed under history and notes. Any notes added under an invoice doesn't show up under the clients/contact history and notes. Can this please be added back in, most Xero users are attaching notes to certain invoices.Ability: Xero only displaying the unpaid invoice up top under client/contact ----- same as former Xero version - PLEASE change this back it was perfect and it is very much not userfriendly now

User Role: Ability for standard users to have access to Uncoded Statement Lines
I would like to recommend that standard access users be able to access a very handy "uncoded statement transaction report" that at this point is only available to the advisers role (usually accountants). I am told for advisers it appears on the front page of bank reconciliation. If it wasn't for chatting to an accountant one day about typing out lists to my clients I wouldn't know about it. I guess you don't know what you don't know. This is an extremely helpful tool when trying to send lists to bookkeeping clients / business partners or employee's when you are chasing backup documentation (invoices/receipts/income info) from. I find it quite illogical that accountants / adviser role are the only one's given this particular report when it is the bookkeeper needing to get all the transactions allocated finalised for them to do their magic. I can't for life of me understand what reason there would be that this report isn't given generic access. At this point I have Advisers/accountants that run this report off when needed but naturally this comes at a cost to the client and a waste of accountants time. For years I have been typing out all the unallocated transactions to send to my clients to chase up and as much as I am a fast typist it's a little frustrating the person that needs to get the information finalised for the accountants doesn't have access to this simple report. I propose that the "Uncoded Statement Transaction Report" be amended to include for standard users. Please vote for this to simplify getting the work done. Appreciate your help. Roz

Projects - quote for a number of visits a year - NOT time specific visits.
In Projects I would like the option to create a quote, track and invoice my client where the charge is per "session" Currently Tasks are either fixed price (which does not allow me to quote for a quantity of the same item over the course fo the project) or they are hourly based and my client does not wish the time spent to be shown on the quote or invoice. My situation is that for example my client approves 40 weekly sessions over the course of a year at £250 per session. Neither I nor my client wishes to show the time duration of each session. However I do need to be able to track and invoice the sessions on a monthly basis as completed. It appears that the only current workaround is to create 48 identical "fixed price" (one for each session) as items on the project and quote which seems very clunky.

Reports - Automatically save CIS reports submitted to HMRC
Would it be possible to up date the CIS feature to have the reports that are filed through Xero to HMRC be automatically saved into the filed with HMRC section so that you can see the original return that was submitted if you have had to update it. Returns are not saved on HMRC if they are submitted through Xero.

Invoices - Create APCA or ABA files from recurring invoices
As a DE User we would like to be able to upload a file to the bank creating the direct debits associated with subscriptions or payment plans. (The converse of the supplier payment batch file.)
The functionality exists already, including the space for the client's BSB and Account number; and the capacity for "strip invoicing" so this should be a relatively quick and easy job.8 votes -

Xero Me | Expenses - Remove Employee from 'Nothing to review'
It would be useful to be able to remove employees who are no longer working for the company from the Xero Expenses app. It's annoying having their names pop up under the "Nothing to review" section as it's easy to continue to file expenses under their name even though they no longer work for the company.

AU Payroll - Show 'actual' leave balance in employee record
Make it so that an employees actual current leave balance is shown on an employee's record under the leave tab. Not just the balance with future leave applied. It's frustrating to have to download an employees pay slip to view these balances.

Xero and Shopify inventory integration -Direct link for live stock levels
Would be great if you could link cirectly to the live stock levels inside Shopify so if I generate an invoice and sale from Xero then the stock level reduces and adjust accordingly. There does not seem to be functionality that does this currently.

Xero Analytics | Short-term cash flows - Add tax payments
It would be very useful if the cashflow report could intelligently add VAT payments to Cashflow automatically.
For example when a VAT return if filed, automatically add the payment amount and date to the report, learning as it does with repeating outgoings what the date might be - if you're paying by DD this is pretty predictable.
As invoices are generated (payable and receivable) the report already picks up the amount of VAT payable to HMRC and it would not be a stretch to calculate what is due back on purchases, or to use the known VAT reporting date to forecast the amount of VAT due and when.

Bills - Add 'paid by credit card' flag to payment overview
With the bills workflow, we often have the issue that when a purchase is made by credit card or direct debit and the receipt is then sent to hubdoc or Xeros solution it sits in awaiting payment - when really it is awaiting reconciliation. or needs something to identify it as a recurring payment or paid by credit card. When marked as paid in Hubdoc that doesn't synch with Xero and there is no way for book keeper to know how it has been paid and thus we have bills being paid twice and you have to know which are direct debits , which are paid by credit cards and which are to be paid direct debit.

Navigation - Return to previous screen after viewing/editing a transaction
Ability to return to the previous screen after the user edited a transaction.
Purpose: To make users easily continue working on the previous page rather than having to navigate from the different page again.
106 votesHi everyone, thanks for all your support and feedback of how changes in navigation could help your use of Xero. While not across all areas of the product there are some updates in Bills that we wanted to share and may help the needs of some in the idea here.
We've launched Bills quick view where there's now an eye icon within the line of the bills list. From here you'll find more ease in viewing, and more recently being able to edit bills from this view without having to leave the list, meaning you can simply make adjustments and move from one bill to the next.
We'll continue to explore and develop solutions like this to help our customers get more out of Xero on the go. I'll keep you informed of other updates that could enhance your experience, here.
