  1. There is an issue with the new GUI for invoices in xero. My work flow requires making multiplke repeating invoices from a standard invoice. At present this can be done by creating a draft, and then converting the draft invoice to a repeating invoice. The draft stays put in the drafts folder and can be converted into a new repeating invoice. Once I have set up all the repeating invoices I require, I can delete the draft.
The option to create repeating invoices from drafts in the new GUI has been removed. Where is it?

Hi community, we have just gone live with the ability to create a new Repeat template from a Draft invoice 🎉

You'll find this option from the 3 dot menu within a draft invoice. Thanks for your input through this idea.

  2. We use a lot of tracking options on our bills and invoices, sometimes we need to refer back to a particular bill in that tracking option for VAT treatment as an example, but the only way I have found to do that aside from opening each bill individually through the list to find the right category, is to run a tracking summary report, select the particular one and check the expenses - it would be much simpler to be able to see the tracking category alongside the bills to pay screen so you can easily open a bill for the…

Hi team, while not shown directly on each row of the bills list, our new quick view for bills should resolve the needs here. 😊

By clicking on the eye icon from the list you'll see your bill shown on the right side of the screen and can use the arrows to quickly move through each bill and view the contents including any tracking that you've assigned within your bill.

Get in to try and we're keen to hear your feedback on using quick view in bills!

  3. It would be useful to have a cc and bcc field when sending invoices so that either the business owner or another individual could receive a copy of the invoice when it is sent. This functionality is available in QuickBooks.

Hi team, with the release of our new send experience you now get full visibility of what's being sent to your customers when sending from new invoicing with a side-by-side view. Along with this, the team have developed the ability to add CC and BCC so you can easily include others.😁

Thank you all for sharing how we can make Xero better when running your business.

  4. In the old P&L reports there was an option to compare jobs(tracking options) for a selected period. There was an option to filter the exact period (eg 1 month or 6 months) and it also displayed the line items relevant to the job for that month (eg individual COGS lines) It was used to compare Job COGS to a Project Management program used by the business. The new P&L has very limited features particularly relating to filtering. The only option we see now is hours of opening each job, line by line (as it shows all the jobs with no way…

  5. The new invoicing/quotes is a terrible downgrade for the price fields. It is incredibly strict with regard to numbers that can be pasted. Generally for prices, we are copy and pasting from a spreadsheet or another database. These will commonly have a comma for thousands and a dollar sign. The new quotes/invoices requires these to be stripped out and numbers entered strictly like this > 1111.00. It's a major annoyance and time waster.

Hi everyone, thanks for contributing and feeding back on this idea. We appreciate the needs in being able to quickly enter data into your invoices and are continuing to build on new invoicing experience.

With a recent update we've released what you're asking here, and you can now copy and paste numbers that include commas (,), and currency symbols such as $ or £.

  6. Include an extra tab that summarises the totals for the Tax Rates including the cents.

This will eliminate the need to scroll through all the detail to code the journal/payment.

Hi team, I know it's been sometime since this idea was originally raised and we wanted to provide an update for you all here.

Xero's Activity Statement report today has two tabs - Summary and Transactions.

The Summary tab summarises the Tax Rates totals of all transactions. This shows a round number without cents in line with ATO. Transactions tab includes all transactions associated with the Activity Statement period.

You can find more detail about how Xero populates the Activity Statement on Xero Central.

  8. Please allow us to collect ACH direct debit payments through Stripe, and not force us to use a 3rd solution (GoCardless) for that.

Stripe offers direct debit ACH when sending invoices directly from Stripe. There is no reason it shouldn't be available through Xero.

Hi everyone, over the past year we've made a lot of updates to offer more ways for your customers to pay invoices with you. As you may have seen, we've released ACH debit for US organizations, a new payment method by Stripe.

This payment method allows you to accept direct bank payments on invoices, without costly card fees. Your customer can quickly authorize a one-time payment to be withdrawn from their bank account for the total invoice amount - all without leaving the invoice.

We appreciate users from regions outside US that have voted here, however with ACH being a US specific payment method we don't have any plans for extending this payment method more broadly.

  9. I want to start using the W9 Management tool going forward. I have a number of Suppliers that I received the paper pdf of the W9 and I have populated the 1099 info manually and attached the W9pdf to files. However, in order to use the new tool effectively, for those that I already have the details for, I would like to manually amend the W9-Status to received, so only new suppliers are highlighted as not received and I can send the link out for completion. Not being able to change the flag to received for historical clients actually makes…

Hi community, our product team have been doing some work in this space and we're pleased to share that as of today you can now manually mark a W-9 as being received from the W-9 Management page 🎉

This helps you edit the status where you have received W-9 forms through another source, such as PDF.

Hi team, rounding back on the idea here I want to confirm that currently Payroll admins can reject approved leave requests which will delete it.

If the leave request has been included in a draft or posted payrun, the payroll admin will need to revert to draft and delete the payrun before the leave request can be rejected.

Hi all, just confirming as per my recent update. Within the Transactions tab of the new GST Return, you can now choose to view by box number or tax rate, giving more customisation of how you review associated transactions.

  12. When building custom reports, currently there is no way to add a Date column that updates to match the date range specified when viewing the report.

This is available on all pre-defined reports, but can not be added as part of a custom report.

There are many cases where it is desirable to build a report template that can be run for different, user-specified, date ranges, without having to edit the report each time.

Hi June, we've made a recent improvement for Activity Statements to surface the payment due date for any lodged statements. You'll find this from the list of Activity statements within the Completed section, and when you open a Statement you'll see the payment dude date shown at the top of the statement along with payment options to help simplify the process. 😊

Hi team, coming back across this idea I wanted to confirm that this is how the Invoice Only - Drafts role currently works - Someone with this role will be able to create and submit bills and invoices they enter to be approved by someone else with the right permissions in the org.

They will only have access to view invoices and bills that they have entered themselves, and will not be able to view bills or invoices raised by others in the organisation.

Danny, it sounds like you're referring to the Invoice Only - Purchase role which will enable a user to raise and approve bills they have entered. The user is not able to access Sales, but they'll be able to view any bills or purchase orders that have been raised by any user in the organisation. We have a somewhat similar idea for a tick box option…

  16. The changes made to the new bills view is inefficient when when viewing a column, if it is a credit note or had a credit note applied to it the icon creates an indent thus making it harder to follow with the eye. In addition the previous easy to locate yellow icon that did not create an indent has been replaced with a blue icon that blends with other Xero Coloring.

Hi Fiona, appreciate not way you'd envisaged here, however there has been an update that will help you easily locate your Credit Notes when in Bills.

You'll find under the Filter option you now have the ability to filter by Credit Note, Overpayment and or Prepayments which helps quickly narrow down your view to just these documents types.

Hi Laura, it looks like you also raised a support case about this which has since been resolved.

To recap, when you add a V category, you'll have the option to enter a date in which the category starts from. Then you would need to enter the date in which the employee was first employed as a civilian.

For example, V category is valid from 31 Jan, therefore you can only enter the employment civilian date up until 31 Jan. You won't be able to enter an employment date after the NI category date.

  18. Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.

Hi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

  19. Xero to create a function that allows you to see a total of Direct Bill Payment charges through a specified time period (similar to running a report on a specific account type). It is a direct cost and therefore it should be very simple to obtain the information. At the moment there is no real visualization, you can only obtain the information by multiplying the amount of payments made in a certain period by £0.24. When handling client money, this means a report needs to be created separately outside of Xero to show in a transparent manner what has been…

Hey Theresa, thank you for raising this suggestion. Whilst there isn't a report dedicated to showing the Direct Bill payment fees, you can use the Account Transactions report to see the fees for a specified time period.

The payment fees are recorded as spend money transactions to the 'Payment Fee' account. Running the Account Transactions report on this account will show you the fees paid.
