  1. I would like you to develop context sensitive help. Currently any input to the help box results in the attachment below with three options that are not pertinent.
I want to enter a single word or phrase then have a series of articles containing this word or phrase sorted by importance. What I DO NOT want is a list of articles that might help.
Looks to me like xero and it’s non existent help function was written by accountants and not IT people who know how to create super useful help function.
Maybe this should not be in Business section…

Hey James, from your screenshot it looks like you’ve used the search function when looking for help. The help menu is to the right of it. I've attached a screenshot highlighting where it is and what it looks like opened up.

The help menu in Xero uses the context of the page you're on to produce the recommended articles, and also has keyword search that is backed by machine learning, to sort results by relevance.  You can view the help article right within the menu itself and move it around so you can follow along while working in Xero.

  2. We should be able to adjust the holiday year to the UK tax year as that seems to be very common. ( There is already a discussion topic for this but I cannot see it on this list.
We should also be able to show holidays in days not hours.
We should be able to calculate holiday hours for employees that do not do a 5 day week. The hours taken on holiday need to be overwritten every time a PT employee books time off.

Hi community, happy to share that these changes have now been released in UK Payroll! 🎉 You now have the ability to set employee's leave to accrue based on a custom date of your choosing. We appreciate your inputs and based on the feedback we've made a change so that leave will now accrue on the first day of your annual accrual method.

    Hi team, rounding back to confirm that the changes shared last week have now been rolled out and you'll find the next time you export a report from Xero to Excel that the formatting will be a little different. To recap the updates we've made;

    • The report will now default to 100% zoom (rather than 150%),
    • we've adjusted the size of title and currency fonts for ease of reading, and
    • made slight changes to the formatting of cells in rows for consistency across the report

Thanks again for your feedback on the site, and if you'd like to support and follow any updates on merged cells, join in the idea here 🙂

  4. It would be great if the contact activity items could be divided into different tabs.

Eg. Quotes, Invoices, Purchase Orders, Bills, Notes, Etc.

A couple of my contact have become very cluttered, and it has become increasingly difficult to find the correct documents.

  5. Within the debtors and creditors reports (either detailed or summary) the ability to show balances as of todays date when working on client's system up to 9 months later, would be handy to see which debtors and creditors are still outstanding.
I.e. client has £100k debtors as at their year end 31/3/22, but when we run report on say 31/7/22, how many of that £100k is still outstanding? To have a toggle to the balance at the report date (31/3/22) or the current date would help,

    Hi everyone, thanks for showing your interest here. With the newer Aged Detail reports, you can achieve this by;

    1. Setting the date of the report to the date you want to include payments up to
    2. Click Filter
    3. Set an Invoice Date filter as 'any' - 'invoices raised up to date'

If this is something you'll commonly run you may want to save the report as custom so you can easily open the report anytime. You'll just want to remember to adjust the filter for the Invoice Date. 🙂

  6. Have the ability to use the search function, regardless of what you are currently looking at.

Right now, whenever you are in the Report section or the Fixed Assets section, you do not have the ability to search. You have to go to a different page, and then you're allowed to search.

Quickly following on from our last update our teams have been working hard to keep developing consistency in search. You'll now find you can search from any screen across your Xero organisation!

We appreciate direct feedback on the screens you wanted to see this capability such as Fixed Assets, Payroll, new Invoicing, Reports - Now, wherever you go in your org, you'll find the magnifying glass in the blue navigation bar. 😁

    Thanks for your support community!

  7. I wish to see if invoices are paid on unpaid when pulling account transaction reports.

Accounting - Account Transaction Report - Columns - (add if we can see if bill/invoice paid or unpaid)

There is no way currently when pulling this report to see if the bills are paid or not.

Apologies for not seeing your response here sooner, Jayden. Thanks for sharing that image. I do hope you've got your answer already but to confirm for anyone viewing here - That screenshot appears to be the Account Transactions report.

To view paid or unpaid invoices or bills you'll want to run the Receivable or Payable Invoice Detail reports. This is a slightly different report to what you're looking at and can be found in the Payables and Receivables section of the reports centre.

  8. Can we please have the bank reconciliation reports default to show decimal places. I've never seen a bank rec that rounds off the decimals until Xero introduced it.

Hey Barbara, thanks for sharing your idea!

Earlier this year we rolled out a change to the Bank Reconciliation report, it now defaults to including decimal places. This can be changed by deselecting 'Decimals' from the 'More' menu. I've attached a screenshot as an example 😊

  9. The ability to search bills and filter specifically for a credit notes would be helpful.
Also, if a credit note has been used the total is $0 - it would be helpful if the total was still shown as paid.

  10. At the moment there doesn't seem to be a way to pay a monthly employee a basic monthly salary without the hourly rate changing to reflect the number of working days in the month. Please can there be an option to pay a monthly employee a basic 12th of their annual salary each month and the hours per month are set to the average of a 12th of their annual hours so that the hourly rate for overtime etc stays the same each month.

    Thank you.

Hi everyone, we’re pleased to share that we’ve now released working patterns to all UK organisations that use Xero Payroll.

You can now enter more information about employees’ working patterns to support leave and earning rates calculations and save you time. You’ll be able to:

    • Create or select from working pattern templates
    • Add working patterns manually or using the template
    • Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern

Being able to set up to 13 weeks in a template means you’ll be able to accurately reflect employees’ that may work differing hours through weeks in a month like you’re after here. We’ve shared a few videos on YouTube that’ll help guide you through the change 😊

Thanks for all your engagement and sharing with us on the idea here.

  11. Please can we have the product enhancement for the LOCKED DATES, whereby the Advisor role can LOCK THE DATES to stop other employees/departments posting entries, but the Advisor can OVERIDE the lock dates to post month end/year end journals.
    This is critical !!

    Hi there

There are two Lock Date settings in the Financial Settings screen; one for all users except advisers, and one for all users.

To do this, you could leave the 'all users' date blank, and set a relevant lock date for 'all users except advisers'.

This would allow Adviser users to bypass the Lock Date, while still leaving this restriction in place for other users.

Alternatively, you might leave the 'all users' setting in place to prevent Advisers unknowingly making an change prior to the Lock Date.

If the Adviser does need to override this, they could temporarily delete this date, or move it forwards.

  12. When reviewing a business' product range for the sake of refining and optimising, we need to identify which customers purchases what products and in what quantities and to what value.
E.g. if I have a butchery, I would want to know who my top purchasers of beef products are and my top purchasers of pork products, and how much those customers spend on beef and pork respectively over a given period.

Hi community, with the Inventory Item Details report you'll be able to add columns for Contact and Group by Item Name. once run clicking on the Contact header will group all sales for a customer of each item so you can easily see which customers have purchased the most of one item.

If you sell to different customers at different prices you can also add margin and/or profit columns to get a better understanding of those you make the most return from.

  13. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for such a thing.
But, when i just submitted a support ticked and was typing in the description and with every character of mouse click it would reload the suggested articles.
Which is just not how it should work.
The old format was perfectly fine.

Thanks for bringing this up here, Dylan. We've made a small update to the way this works.

Now, when raising a case with our Xero Support team and typing in the description the articles suggested on the right side won't update as quickly as they were before. This should make it easier to skim through existing help articles as you type. 😊 We'll move your idea across to delivered, however we welcome any further feedback to our update.

  14. Hyperlink Invoice Numbers on Customer Statements (including PDF) to Invoices in Xero, or to External Invoices if the Invoices were imported via API.

Hey community - we're delivering this idea 🎉

The team have been testing a solution over the past few weeks. Off the back of positive feedback, we'll be rolling this out to 100% of Xero organisations.

It will be enabled automatically for all statements sent out. Thanks for all of your feedback on this feature!

The team are also exploring a solution to our other top-voted Statements idea, Contacts | Statements - View and Pay Online. We’ve shifted it to ‘Under Review’ for now.

Stay tuned there for more updates!

  15. Expenses - Clone or Copy an Existing Expense

My team have asked if we can make a 'copy to new Expense feature' from an existing Expense. Most of the expenses they enter are similar and just have a different amount and different receipt image. It would save them a lot of time if they could clone an existing Expense. Thank you.

Hi team, it's possible to Duplicate an expense receipt within Xero Me mobile app. 😊

Your employee can open a Submitted or Approved receipt, select options and they'll see the ability to 'Duplicate'. Alternatively, for a complete Claim simply opening the receipt and scrolling down they should see the option to Duplicate.

In the draft receipt they'll be able to change whatever details necessary before submitting for approval.

  16. Bills to Pay defaulting to "Awaiting Payment". When I am coding draft bills the system defaults to "Awaiting Payment" after I have approved the bill. PLEASE CHANGE THIS BACK to "All" or "Draft Bills". When I'm coding draft bills I don't want to see bills awaiting payment I want to see draft bills whether in the "All" list or "Draft" list.

Hi everyone, thanks again for sharing how we can improve Xero for your experience. The ability to set a default page for Bills to pay has now been released to all users.

One point that we'd like to highlight is that this setting is device specific - so if you commonly access Xero from multiple devices you'll need to set the default page on each device you use.

  17. Trial balance should be included as Favourite in reports.

I've attached a screenshot as an example 😊

Hi everyone, thanks for your contributions to the idea and to those who jumped in to help test and play with the multi currency before the full release.

Today I can confirm we've released the ability to run the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Budget Variance reports in other currencies an org has been using to all users. If you're using multi-currency in your org you'll find this extra option in each of these reports settings. 😁

  20. We would like to have the ability to duplicate a customised report in a financial accounts pack within the advisor reports.
For example, when preparing monthly reports, they will include a YTD profit and loss report then a month by month profit and loss report.
The P&L reports can have quite a few customisations like grouping and added formula's etc, so it would be a huge time saver if we could duplicate the YTD P&L then edit to make it month by month, rather than having to start customisations from scratch with a new P&L report.

Hi team, this is possible through the use of the Management report in a Xero org.

If you click the 3 dots next to Management report you'll see you can Create new report pack where you'll have the option to add any of your custom reports that have been saved in the org. 🙂
