Pricing Plans - Have a dedicated team advising on software for different industries
THERE ARE SO MANY CHOICES. I need something specific and someone to help. A comparison tool of each app features (like some of the health industry sites have) or a specialist team to advise, particularly when you are recommending so many platforms.

For the UK we now have a page on our website that helps you find a plan that's right for their business. Xero will provide a plan recommendation based on responses to a selection of questions.
Though only available in the UK atm, we are looking to extend this to other regions and I'll keep you updated on when this is available elsewhere, here.

Expense Claims: Ability to add notes
Xero should add "Add Note" to Expense Claim just like we have it on Bills to pay. This would be helpful for requesters to provide additional information or make comment on their payment requests. Thank you.

AU Payroll - Bulk file pay runs with STP
When doing a catch up job it takes forever to have to click into each pay run then back into pay employees and repeat. It would be great to be able to tick each one on the payroll > pay employees screen and then submit all at once.

AU Payroll - Bulk add pay items to pay template
The ability to be able to multiple select earnings types when setting up the employee template.
Also with the ability to select Calculation Type - either Use Earnings Rate or Enter Rate.
If selecting 'Enter Rate' this can be input after the earnings lines are available - like usual.

Reporting - View payment reference and date paid
Reporting - to run a report that can show payment information (eg. paid date) and reference/item information.
A report under cash basis does not show the reference that I put on the invoice reference or the item information chosen in the invoice, it is really hard to search receivable payment based on the information I need (PFA).
A xero support specialist explained that because there is no reference on the payment, I can only search by Contact name or invoice number. But, when we do reconciliations to match the bank received with the invoice, there is nowhere to add an additional reference for receiving payment. How can we search for a receivable payment reference if we can not add them?Therefore, it will be great if a report under cash basis could show the reference I put on invoices or items I picked in invoices to help us more to search information. Especially, when we receive partially payments form customers, there is no report to show that a invoice was partially paid at what amount and on which date.

User Access: Payroll - Payroll admin access only
Ability to give payroll admins only permission to staff.
Purpose: To make the staff have fully access to Payroll but not other parts of Xero.

Reports - YTD drop-down in "Compare With" field
Looking out our month-on-month Income Statement is cumbersome. Adding "YTD" in the "compare with" field would be an upgrade to fairly standard accounting.

Bank Reconciliation - Show Total of selected transactions
When manually reconciling a bank clearing account, you have to manually add up the credits that you have ticked to make sure that they add up to the debit that you are reconciling to.
It would be great if there was a figure showing the total of all items ticked.
It would work exactly the same as when preparing a batch payment in the Purchases module where the total of all bills ticked is shown at the top.
It would save SO MUCH time if we could have a similar total showing in the bank transactions screen - there can be a LOT of sales to match to a single merchant deposit - ticking them off then adding them up is incredibly inefficient.When manually reconciling a bank clearing account, you have to manually add up the credits that you have ticked to make sure that they add up to the debit that you are reconciling to.

Chart of Accounts: Standard Canadian numbering
I have noticed that automatic numbering of accounts is different that what is general used in Canada. There should be a very clear option when starting a new Xero account to select Canadian numbering and an option to change the numbering to Canadian. For Example, in Canada, Assets start with 1, Liabilities start with 2, Equity start with 3, Revenue start with 4, Cost of Sales start with 5, Expenses start with 6,etc... I have a client who went ahead and started using Xero and it set up the accounts wrong and some accounts you cannot change the numbering to match what we use in Canada. It would be very useful to be able to choose "Canadian numbering" and the account numbers would be set up accordingly or be able to change accordingly. Also the Chart of Account (and Trial Balance Report) should start with Balance Sheet accounts (Assets, Liabilities, Equity) then the Income Statement Accounts (Revenue, Cost of Sales, Expenses, etc...). Yes, I know you can resort the reports to show the order you want. Personally, I don't understand when I pull up the Trial Balance and the income statement accounts are first - no other accounting program I currently use or ever use does this. Same with the number, no other program I have used automatically numbers the way Xero does.

Can we combine two xero report ?
Payable invoice detail report & Detailed time report.4 votesIt's not possible to directly combine reports in Xero, however it'd be good to better understand your needs here to determine if there is something that can work for what you're after.
Right now, you can use the Blank report to create a custom report of your own, or you could look to create a Management report pack where you can select multiple reports in Xero create a single pack of these together.

Reporting - Ability to have percentage of completion as accounting method (AU construction)
To include different accounting method for construction company.
We are using PCM method for our accounting in which our revenue and expenses recognized are based on the project's progress. Our project work done percentage is based on the costs incurred and the revenue and cost of sales are based on the work done percentage.
I have attached an example of calculation.

Management report | Cashflow - Ability to run on accrual basis
Is there the ability to make the cashflow report into an accrual report also so we have one report that can show p&l and capital expenditure with an area for adjusted accounts payable/receivable still outstanding and then projecting the bank balance.
Currently we use a 12-month P&L and then have to do a separate balance sheet and it doesn't quite hit the mark.

NZ Payroll - Add a Payday filling notification when contractors IRD numbers are not included
Client has just realised that they hadn't entered an IRD number into Xero Payroll details for one of their contractors on withholding tax. Xero Payroll allowed the submission of payday filing to go through without error or notifying the client of the missing information.
6 months later, client is contacted by contractor to say IRD don't have any record of withholding income or tax withheld on behalf even though the details were submitted and tax paid on to IRD. Without the IRD number, IRD was unable to allocate it to the contractor's income records.
I don't think this should be allowed to happen, or at least a warning should be given before submitting the payday file.

Bank Reconciliation - Bulk deleting statement lines from bank feeds.
Sometimes small businesses use personal bank accounts or credit cards for business expenses. In order to ensure quick book keeping and reconciliation of business expenses, it is necessary to remove items of personal expenses from these bank feeds. By doing this only those transactions from personal bank feed that are relevant to the business are imported. Personal expenses have to be manually deleted.
Can the system not allow us to select a bunch of personal transactions and remove them instead of having to manually remove each line item. This will dramatically reduce the time spent by Accountants in reconciling Personal bank feeds.Sometimes small businesses use personal bank accounts or credit cards for business expenses. Invoice Templates - Drag and drop invoice designer
How come the process of designing invoices is so painful? It would be great to have a built-in drag and drop invoice designer. I realise it won't be easy but it's mad that our only option is to design them in Word. There are so many sites that allow similar functionality, albeit for non-finance related areas like marketing.

Reporting: Sales Tax Report - Run in different currencies
Sales Tax Audit report is produced only on the organization's base currency.
To be able to produce the Sales Tax Audit report in other currencies as well.
Reason: to be able to extract the report for organisations registered in countries of which currency is other than the Company's base (if also required for the authorities.)

Reporting - Run Income and Expenses by Customer report by Due Date
I need to be able to run the "Income and Expenses by Contact" by Due Date rather than by Invoice Date, i.e. I would like to be able to select a date range and then there could be a drop down selection indicating whether these dates are Invoice Dates or Due Dates.
We are a SaaS company with monthly subscription invoices, and what I am trying to achieve by running the report by Due Date is to report by the usage month which the invoice relates to.
E.g. an invoice for August's usage would be auto generated on 25 July, with Invoice Date = 25/07/2023 and Due Date = 01/08/2023. Also if someone were to join mid-August, their pro rata invoice would have Invoice Date = 15/08/2023 and Due Date = 15/08/2023.
So the month in which the invoice is due is telling me which usage month it is for.
