reduce line spacing on reports
Need to reduce line spacing on Exported to PDF Reports - I use the Budget Variance Report, which is perfectly suitable for my needed. The on-screen display is fine, but when exported to PDF, the line spacing increases so that the exported report goes onto extra pages, and the report is too spaced out.
The Export to PDF needs to format to the same as what is displayed on screen.

Bills - Hide archived items when creating repeating bills
Whilst creating or editing "normal" bills, archived Products and Services don't appear in the Item pick lists to choose from. However, when creating or editing Repeating Bills ALL the Products and Services appear in the Item pick lists, irrespective of whether they're active or archived.
With many Products and Services archived (we have to renew them all annually), this makes the resetting of our Repeating Bills very labourious and makes the chances of making errors many times greater, as we can accidently choose archived Products and Services.
This looks to be a bug in the system that needs rectifying quickly.

Invoices - Change Column widths on invoice template
On the invoice template there is a lot of 'white space', particularly to the right of the Product Description, which frequently wraps to a second line. The Product Item code also wraps to a second line on occasions. The Quantity, Unit Price, Discount and VAT columns could be reduced in width to allow for the increase in Item and Description fields.
7 votesHi community, we're currently working on some improvements to the table/grid within new invoicing that'll provide better visibility of details.
While we won't be enabling customers the ability to adjust columns widths yourself, we're making changes that'll condense the view so you can see more at once, such as the full account name. We'll also be shifting some of the detail shown beneath the description into columns of their own for ease of view. I'll come back to share as there's more news.

Xero Projects - Select the date when closing the Project
Our financials include a report on the profitability of projects closed during the month. Because the system writes the date of closure from the actual live date that the user marks the project as closed, the user needs to make sure that each project is marked as closed immediately on the date of completion. E.g. If a project is completed in the last week of the month the user must ensure that the closure field is ticked during that week and not wait until the following week.
Can you allow the user to enter or amend the closure date ?

Journal tabs
Journal entries - You can tab from box to box, but it doesn't tab from the Date box to the Auto Reverse Date box. It would be so handy if it did and ave time. If you don't want it you would just tab on to the next box. At the moment, you have to manually click on the box each time you want it

Budget - Enter budget as a yearly option
Quickbooks allows this: and 501c6 and 501c3 find this EXTREMELY useful. We don't budget by the month per se; we budget yearly.

CIS - Include CIS Suffered in CIS reporting
A section for CIS suffered as like the current CIS deducted would be really useful. The reporting for CIS deducted is great and helps records for monthly PAYE. A similar section on the CIS suffered side would be great - checking through separate ledgers and updating RTI filings is manual in contrast.

Reporting- Balance Sheet layout
Please can we amend the sorting of Balance sheet Fixed asset codes from alphabetically as a default. The default should be that depreciation line should follow the item cost line so it is easier to read.
I know it is possible to amend the names of the codes or edit the layout but this is time consuming to do and it would just make sense to have it as a default.

Invoices - Add invoice number when invoice is Approved
Recently found out that draft invoices are assigned a number once created, even if they are eventually not approved and deleted.
For accounting reasons in Spain, the numbering on all invoices presented has to be consecutive and the fact that draft invoices are assigned a number from the same sequence causes a problem. So basically if a draft invoice ends up being deleted, then when presenting the invoice list to the tax authorities, there is a number missing, which could cause a problem.
My suggestion would be that the sequence number is not assigned until the invoice has been approved…17 votes -
Switch Banks from the left sidebar.
Switch Banks from the left sidebar. People need to go to Dashboard, click a bank, then have access to the drop down menu of banks, but this is slow and not as useful as having all the banks and credit card accounts listed on the left sidebar with ability to switch.

History & Notes - Full detail of action
Can we drill down into the history lines by date to see the actual changes/edits or whatever was done for individual invoices? This would enable a clearer picture for future scrutiny.
My client couldn't work out what had been done and neither could I . All the history said was 'edited' by an employee.1 vote -
Entering fixed asset register accounts
In the new Fixed Asset Register it would be extremely helpful if I could enter my chart codes to set up the asset accounts then 'tab' to the next piece of information instead of having to click onto the account to have it enter into the field. For accountants who use their charts day in and day out and have them memorised, having to manually select the code is a right pain! Some of these new improvements you are making are really causing extra time for us to be able to do our jobs.

Analytics Plus | Short term cashflow - Filter predictions by bank account
Analytics Plus - Predictions do not filter based on bank account selection
When you have multiple bank accounts but only need one selected for cash flow purposes, the monthly predictions that xero has created do not filter out based on the bank account they were predicted from.
In my example I now have petty cash predictions and interest income from a savings account showing when only the main current account is selected, this messes with the predicted end balance making the cash totally useless

UK Payroll - Correct rounding when employee earnings are split
There is an issue in payroll where you will get a rounding error due to other pay items such as Leave/Holiday.
e.g. Salary £12,570 per year
Paid in May the calculations are as follows:
1685.692935=£956.41308 Rounded: £956.41
85.692935=£45.54348 Rounded: £45.54
8*5.692935=£45.54348 Rounded: £45.54Total = £1047.50084 Rounded Total: £1047.49 instead of £1047.50
This should be corrected somehow to use the correct number before rounding as the final calculation. The rounding can either be ignored from the line items, added to the first line item (the total pay) or added as a new line item specifically for the rounding…

UK VAT - VAT calculations to 3 decimal points.
Xero calculates VAT on a line by line basis and rounds up at every instance. This leads to the VAT amount sometimes being more than a few pennies over the top of what it should be.
I propose that Xero calculates VAT to 3 decimal places, which will mostly eliminate this over payment to the VAT man and overcharging our customers. Or it only calculates VAT at the end of the invoice.

Xero subscription invoices added to Files
Xero subscription invoices added to Files
When you email our Xero subscription invoice, please email it to our Files. (Or at least give that to us as an option.) We shouldn't have to forward our Xero invoice to our bookkeeper. The file should already be waiting for the bookkeeper within the software.1 vote
