Projects - Different staff cost rate per project
We charge our consultants at a different cost rate per customer project and pay them a different cost rate per engagement. This is negotiated with them at the start of the gig and applies only to that Project.
I want to set a different staff rate per project per staff member.

Credit Note for Repeating Invoices
I recently commented about the new invoicing not showing credit notes available, what I didn't realise that this was only for Repeating Invoices, not standard generated invoices which do infact show the credit available.
Some of our regular clients like to prepay so there are often credits to use. Upon approving a repeating invoice, the classic used to say there was a credit available on that contact, click here to use it. There is no such feature on the new repeating invoicing to indicate there is a credit available you have to go and manually check. As well as not informing you of an available credit, if you look at the new approved (repeating) invoice there is no way apply an existing credit (only to create and apply a new credit), you need to go back and find the oldest credit note and apply it in that direction. Please note this did not happen when I set up a new repeating invoice but of course I can only try that in the first instance as the options are weekly or monthly, and it may code that initial repeating invoice as a standard invoice. So I can only advise this happens with our existing Repeating Invoices at this stage. Classic invoicing could apply credit notes from the repeating invoice or from the credit note.

2 votesHi Claire, I've tried replicating your scenario here using both a newly created and an existing repeating template.
In both cases when I open an invoice that has been generated from the template and credit is available I can see an option on the invoice to Apply credit (as shown in my image)
Could you please raise a case on this with our Xero support team on Xero Central. They have tools to be able to look into this deeper and confirm what's going on and why credit is not appearing for application in your invoices.

Email Templates - Account Number Placeholder
In Organisation Settings / email settings / templates
Can we have a place holder to allow us to include our Account Number in the subject and body of our default emails to clients for invoices and statements10 votesThanks for the confirmation, Sally. We have some current work underway with the email send modal in invoices, however I want to be open that at the time the team are not extending to add new placeholders that can be used.
For now, as you may have found you can edit the default email to add the Contact Account Number before sending the invoice. Appreciate wanting something more automated and we'll continue to track the interest of this idea and share if there's any development.

Bank Rules - Add notes for rules
I want to be able to add notes to rules I setup, but I don't want to use the description field as that shows on the books. I like to know why I chose not to set a tax rate on a rule, or if the business owner has told me something specific about a re-occurring transactions that they may not always provide a receipt for. I would like to have something to look back at so that I understand why I set it up as I did. Hopefully that makes sense?

Navigation - More quick links to speed up data entry
I migrated from QB Desktop to Xero last year, and whilst Xero produces the accounts etc perfectly well I find processing book-keeping data takes me around 20% longer than it used to. Here are a few ideas which would speed this up:
1. Have a button to scroll to next or last invoice, bill, journal etc rather than having to look at a transaction, then go back to the list to see the next transaction.
2. Allow a default bank account to be set up for e.g. payments, receipts etc
3. Able to use + - buttons to increase / decrease date by a day
3. Able to set default date to the one used in the previous transaction rather than always defaulting to today
4. Add more functions to the + menu e.g. debtor receipts, bills to pay, or allow users to add their own functions to that menu.I migrated from QB Desktop to Xero last year, and whilst Xero produces the accounts etc perfectly well I find processing book-keeping data takes me around 20% longer than it used to. AU Payroll - Add or edit breaks in timesheets
There is no functionality to retroactively add or edit break times into an employees submitted timesheet. It would be good to be able to edit or add a break time on the timesheet if they forget before approving it.

Invoices and Bills - Mark with a "Delivered" status
After sending out an Invoice and it has been paid, it would be useful if that invoice could have an additional status, indicating (1) that the goods have been "despatched", then (2) later as "delivered"
Similarly, on a Bill, After the bill has been paid, it ships, and it would be useful if the bill could be marked as (1) shipped then (2) later as "received".
And in both cases, there is an associated shipping document, such as Air Waybill Number and associated shipping agency. The AWB can be further enhanced to provide a link to the tracking service provided by shipping companies.
All this together allows the user to keep a track of goods in transit in and out, allowing identification of any where issues may have occurred.
Even better: If a client order is dependent on receipt of goods from a supplier, the cross dependency of a client invoice to a 3rd party merchant bill could be made.

API - Connector for Microsoft Power Automate
It would be great if there was a connector for the Microsoft Power Automate platform so that Xero could be more easily integrated with other services.

Inventory - Auto-Sum feature in the default purchase cost price field
When adding a new item to your inventory it would be very helpful to have the sum ability in the cost of item tab.
for myself it would help when a supplier has the price less vat.
It would allow me to input 123*1.15 and get the answer inputted automatically, just like you can do when inputting a item on a invoice.

Business performance - Negative + negative resulting in incorrect profit
Mathematically a negative x a negative = a positive. But when this is gross profit @ 312%, it does not represent the business financial position.
1 voteHi Charlotte, sorry we haven't responded to your idea sooner. Appreciate your screenshot and raising this with us. I'd recommend this is something our Xero Support team take a deeper look into with you. If you can raise a case with them through Xero Central they have tools to be able to escalate this with our product team if not working as it should.

AU Payroll - Be prompt when payslips have already been sent and the ability to record a message for the payslip after payrun as been posted
Whether or not you agree that emailing payslips should be considered by employers as a mandatory procedure once the payrun is logged, there are some basic improvements that should be adopted regardless of your opinion. If payslips have already been sent the the first improvement is to prompt the user that payslips have already been emailed if a user revisits the pay-run options window and clicks on email payslips. If the pay run has already been posted, the second improvement is to still provide access to an individual's payslip to record a message before emailing.

Xero to Xero - Import Name/ABN and contact with invoice
XERO To XERO - IMPORT NAME/ABN AND CONTACT ACROSS WITH INVOICE
It would be helpful when a supplier who is also on Xero - sends us an invoice that their business contact details are also imported with the invoice. It would make it easier than going back and entering the Contact name , address and ABN numbers.2 votes -
Bank Reconciliation - Recap transaction option prior to reconciling
Please add Recap Transaction found in MYOB.
The feature allows you to see which accounts will be affected (debited or credited) by a transaction you're about to enter. Seeing what effect a particular transaction will have on the accounts allows one to know the outcome of transactions with accuracy. This is a powerful feature that can prevent incorrect entry of all kinds of transactions. See attached screenshot from MYOB5 votesAppreciate not the exact feature you're looking for here and will be good to get a sense of the interest of this here. In the meantime, I wanted to make sure you can find this information once reconciled. Those with the Standard or Adviser roles can run the Journal report to view recent impacts to accounts and the user that made each change.

Repeat invoicing - Automatic attachment placeholders
Automated File attachments for repeating invoices.
Is it possible to add a feature where attachment placeholders can be saved with a repeating invoice.? So that attachments can be bulk uploaded at some future time and they are included in the draft invoice using file name matching. "[contactname][year][month].csv" for example. Even better if this could done with all the attachments extracted from a single uploaded monthly zip file. The zip file could also perhaps contain a txt file with a simple filename to invoice matching array for a more flexible approach. I know that adding attachments is easy via the SDK but if this sort of function was built into the UI I can see it saving a lot of people some time/effort.

Xero Expenses - Ability to populate with a contact's default tax rate
When an expense is raised, supplier gst tax rate should override the expense item tax rate. If the supplier coded gst free purchases, then expense items should default to gst free, not the default gst tax code of the expense ite.

Multicurrency - Automatically update prices for currency invoices
When generating quotes or invoices in foreign currencies, the amount should get automatically converted based on the current conversion rate. At the moment this needs to be done manually as the system just changes the currency without actually converting the value. This can be quite tedious if there are a large number of items or prices in an invoice.

Contact - Ability to add date of birth
I have multiple clients who have members. They like to keep their members date of births on file, so they can send them birthday emails, or if they are over a certain age can get a discounted membership. It would be great to have either a dedicated date of birth field, or like some other accounting softwares a few open fields, that we could name per file, for additional required details, like date of births, member types, allergies, voting member etc. I'm sure these fields could be useful for other types of businesses as well.

Hubdoc multi-organisation search option
It would be useful if we could search for invoices/suppliers/amounts/Invoice references in all organisations listed within our Hubdoc portal. Meaning one search bar that searches all organisations, no just the one that is open at the time.

Contact | Activity - view reference of transactions
Implement a feature to make it easier to ensure purchase bills are paid only after the corresponding sales invoice has been settled by the client. Ideally, this could be achieved by adding a visibility feature, such as a dedicated column (along with the already existing Type, Reference, Issue date, Due date, Paid date, Paid, Due, Total, and Status) in the ‘Activity - Bills’ tab of a contact. This would eliminate the need to manually search for each sales invoice or purchase bill reference. This column could be optional, as the others are.
1 voteInteresting idea here, thanks for sharing. Will be good to get a sense of the interest and other businesses that process sales and payments in this manner. Being open it's not something we have plans for atm, but we'll start to track the idea here and let you know if there is any plans made.
