Tracking - Ability to search Category & Options
To be able to search the Tracking Categories on the set up page. Also to have a duplicate warning would be very helpful.
This search function would stop a Tracking number/ name, being entered twice. The list for us is very long!2 votes -

Add Bank Rules as an option to Accounting/Advanced options.
Much easier to navigate via Accounting dropdown menu than via Bank Accounts, eg when recoding transactions usually need to update a rule as well

VAT Return — View invoice numbers
Could the VAT transactions report in the VAT return include the invoice number as well as or instead of the reference?
This would make the review to see if there are any missing invoice numbers much simpler. Our invoices are created in another software package by a number of people who sometimes include text as well as the invoice number and it makes sorting by numerical order time consuming. Having the invoice number as a field would make it very easy to sort in numerical order and identify missing numbers.

Gusto integration - Change sync to avoid creating multiple bills
We create contractor bills within Xero as a way to view and track upcoming bills, but we pay them through Gusto. When we make the Gusto payment, Gusto generates its own bill in Xero, leading to duplication.
As a current workaround, we delete the Xero bill once Gusto posts the payment transaction in Xero. At that time, we also attach PDFs of the invoices from the contractors to the Gusto bills.
Can you provide a way to prevent these duplicate bills?

Profit & Loss report - Show account names on 1 line.
Profit & Loss report: Show account names on 1 line.
The new report has account names over 2 lines, so makes the report extra long, and not very easy to view on the screen. Analysis becomes less efficient.
Prefer the old version report "look". We were able to see the business at a glance on fewer pages! Also, the extraction to excel now has merged cells. Have to unmerge and manipulate before using the report. Again less efficient.

Export Invoices - Include Phone Numbers in CSV
I would like to have clients phone numbers included when saving a CSV Export of Invoices. This feature is unavailable, though all other client data such as name, address and email gets exported.
I need to be able to track my clients 6 monthly and 12 monthly and send them SMS and this is the easiest way to access invoice dates and client data in a CSV file.
I find it very strange the phone data column was not included and hasn't been requested until now.

Tax - Ability to calculate and report tax for multiple jurisdictions
GST - where an entity trades in different tax jurisdictions, allow the file to create the ability to manage GST for different countries (different GST codes) in separate GST accounts and not all consolidated into one GST account.
eg if an entity trades in Australia and New Zealand, you can have an Australian GST account and a NZ GST account to make reconciliation and completion of BAS easier.17 votes -
Contacts - Include account number or email address in exports
We need to export donations from Xero to our CRM system. However, matching on Name is looking very difficult but we could add either the CRM ID to the Contact record as their Account Number, or their email. However, I can't find a way of exporting a csv containing the date, amount, and either email Account number. Can this be added?
9 votesHi Nigel, coming back over your idea here I wanted to confirm it is possible to export contacts and their data from your Xero organisation.
This will include Account Number, email - See our article here.
Can you expand a little more on what you're meaning by date and amount? Thanks

Contacts - Optional average to invoiced amount auto-check
Auto-check of an invoice amount and compare it to the customer's maximum ever invoice amount. To avoid a typo eg entered £7000 instead of £700.
2 votesThanks for the interest in the idea here. As noted in my last update Contact Credit Limits might help some situations but we appreciate may not suit all needs. We don't have any direct change planned for this feature atm, but we'll continue to monitor the interest around this and share if there's any progress with you all, here.

Billing - Performing Arts Business Discount
Small emerging creatives in the performing arts fields, such as bands and musicians, currently are unable to afford accounting software such as Xero, and as a result, often struggle with managing their finances effectively. Especially given the devastating impact of COVID-19, I feel it would be incredibly useful to provide a Xero subscription discount to eligible small and micro businesses, such as the one currently offered to Football Clubs.

Hubdoc - Increase GST Rounding for accuracy
Hubdoc uses a different method of rounding in the "Transaction Details" section compared to the "Destination Section" which causes a "Line item tax amounts do not total to document tax amount' error
It is detailed in full within this post https://central.xero.com/s/question/0D53m00007FW4dwCAD/validation-error-in-hubdoc
It is due to a calculation error of rounding on the multiple split lines. The two values I have on an invoice are $20 and $3.70 including GST. Therefore 1.818182 and 0.336364 GST, if you sum these up it equals 2.154545. When rounded it equals 2.15 which is what my store receipt says and also what is within the hubdoc "Transaction details" section.
However in the "Destination" section of hubdoc when you split the lines, hubdoc is rounding on each individual line, therefore 1.82 and 0.34 in this case, which when summed together equals 2.16. Which is 1 cent out.
I do not see a way to resolve this unless I remove the multiple lines and code to a single line, then edit in Xero. It is clearly a mismatch in the way HubDoc are treating rounding.
I then edited the transaction within Xero and re-split into two lines. What is interesting is that Xero actually does the same rounding on each line and then sums together causing the GST total to be 1 cent out compared to the actual invoice.

Billable Expense - Copy billable expense details when copying a bill
Xero to copy billable expense lines when copying a bill or entering a new bill using 'add last items'. At the moment, the nominal lines and split detail are copied but if each line has previously been allocated to a customer as a billable expenses, this is not copied and needs re-entering line by line.

Sales invoice | History - Show I.P. Address with date & time viewed
When a client opens an invoice or quote Xero shows the IP address of whom ever opened it and the time it was opened. This is especially helpful when multiple people have access to the invoices. It also shows that the client did in fact see the invoice especially when they claim they haven't. Handy tool for chasing payment
2 votesWe appreciate your feedback on how we could improve new invoicing, and the details that would help you track when a customers has viewed your invoice. While recording I.P. address of when a user opens an invoice or quote you’ve sent isn’t in the plans right now, we’re continuing development in this space and our product teams would like to engage you all here to get a deepened sense of our invoicing users, for future improvements. If you'd be interested in sharing further feedback we have a survey you can fill in. We'd love to get your input.

Statement of cashflow - Multi currency
Be able to produce a cash flow report by currency. Also be helpful to do a cash P&L the same way. Used for forecasting expenses by currency
7 votesHi Dan, you can already run the new Profit & Loss in a foreign currency your org is using, as well as run on a cash basis. If you often find yourself wanting to run reports on a cash basis - we recently released Reporting preferences where you could set this as a default. 🙂
We'll keep tracking the interest around viewing the Statement of cashflow in a foreign currency and let you know if there's any plans made for this, here.

NZ Payroll - Birthday reminders for contracted staff
Enable option to enter birthdate for contractors in payroll. Our contractors have been with us for years and we like to recognise their birthdays. Since xero payroll integrates with Finlerts LeaveCal and Google Calendar, this would make this a breeze :-)
