AU Payroll - Allow HECS / HELP tax deductions for Labour Hires
Prior to the upgrade, if you were a labour hire firm and had contractors who were not a company but used their TFN, you could select the box to allow additional tax deductions for HELP / HECS debts. With the new Phase 2 STP, Xero have confirmed that if you have labour hire using TFN's and they have a hecs debt you cannot check the box and will need to manually calculate the hecs amount to deduct each payrun. This means that every payrun, for every hecs debt you will need to manually add an amount working through the various HECS thresholds. Given this was a feature before the "upgrade" (read downgrade), one would think it could be transferred over. Xero support have advised they effectively don't care and get on with manually calculating.
You can check the HECS button if you list the labour hire employee as a regular employee, but I have confirmed with the ATO that we still need to report labour hire income separately and not as standard employee wages.
Requesting they bring the function back to be able to have a TFN labour hire employee who (whether Xero likes it or not) have a HECS debt and be able to calculate the correct PAYGW to withhold.

Fixed Assets | Depreciation - Ability to round to the nearest dollar
Have a choice of rounding depreciation calculations up to the nearest dollar and reporting $ only in the depreciation schedule and other fixed asset reports.
Currently it rounds to the nearest cent.. This does not suit our requirements and so have to prepare our own depreciation schedules outside of Xero4 votes -

Sales Invoice - Email a range of invoices with different status
the feature should be available to to email a range of invoices, for all tabs whether paid or unpaid, not just one single tab
1 voteHi Wendell, it'd be good to understand the needs behind your idea here. Is there a specific reason you'd like to be able to send a invoices of different status together?
In lieu, you could look at running and exporting the Contact transaction reports to help paint a picture of your customers activity, this could then be sent to them outside of Xero.

AU Payroll - Search for Employees within a Draft Payrun
One of my clients has hundreds of employees and at present when processing an unscheduled pay run, I have to keep clicking through the pages to find the employee. It would be so much quicker to be able to search for an employee within the Draft Payrun to then select to add.

Invoices | Single click back to drafts
I would LOVE a link back to draft bills & invoices from the approved bill or invoice. When using email to bill and repeating invoices, after approval there is a link to add a new 'whatever'. But there is no single-click option to go straight to drafts to keep processing these. Instead you must click twice to purchases overview and then drafts.
When processing a large queue of draft bills and invoices, this would be a huge time-saver for me, and I'm sure many others.

Bank accounts - Export list of unreconciled items from Account Transactions screen
Be able to export to Excel the Account Transactions screen from the bank that shows the unreconciled items
9 votesHi all, I wanted to share that while there's no export option on the Account Transactions screen itself, it is possible to export a list of unreconciled Account Transactions with the Business Bank Account Reconciliation Summary report. If you export a copy of this to Excel you'll find the sections for Plus Outstanding Payments and Less Outstanding Receipts which are the unreconciled account transactions. Hope that helps 😊

Dashboard - Show Bank Feed expiry date
Can the bank feed expiry date be shown on the dashboard or perhaps in the bank account screen rectangle for each account. It is a frustrating task to have to repeatedly contact clients to update this .... and worse they tend to blame Xero for the functionality rather than GDPR

I have a number of accounts that are archived. However they still appear in the dropdown options when I reconcile an account. This makes for confusion when selecting accounts.

AU Tax: Pay the ATO directly from the Activity Statement page
The ability to pay the ATO automatically from Xero would be a really handy feature. Similar to the automatic super payment, this would be a huge time saver.

Reporting - Password Protect option for PDF downloads
SureIy this would be a no brainer??
I'd like an option to download PDFs with a password automatically added.
The password could be added in the company setting pages with the option to download "Protected PDF" when you print a report.
This feature seems so simple to create and i'm not sure why it hasn't been thought of.
This would also save us having to do this manually with every report sent to a client.
Please set this up at it would be a great option for bookkeepers and accountants.

Fixed Asset - Change behaviour when adjusting useful life of an asset
Have the FAr work correctly when changing the useful life of an Asset Class - it does not do so currently. This is based on the following research.....
I have done the following in the Demo company (which has a Year End of the 31st March):
- Posted an asset worth £6,300 on the 1st Jan 22 with a depn rate of 10%, resulting in a Depn charge to the P&L of £52.50 pcm
- Posted an asset worth £1,969.99 on the 1st Apr 22 with a depn rate of 10%, resulting in a Depn charge to the P&L of £16.42 pcm
I ran depn from Jan 22 through to Dec 22, so posting 12 months of Depn on two assets, one posted to the FAR in the prior year and one in the current year.
For Jan 23, I changed the Depn rate on both assets to 16.67% (6 years) and expected the following postings:
- on the asset with an opening cost of £6,300, the monthly charge should change to £87.50 pcm. I expected a charge in Jan 23 of £507.50 made up of: 12 x 87.50-52.50 + 1x 87.50
- on the asset with an opening cost of £1,969.99, the monthly charge should change to £27.36 pcm. I expected a charge in jan 23 of £125.83 made up of: 9 x 27.36 - £10.94 + 1x 27.36
What actually happened was the following:
- for the asset with an opening cost of £6,300 (posted in the prior year) a charge of £402.68 was posted (9 x 87.50 - 52.50 + 1 x 87.50 - roundings in my maths!)
- for the asset with an opening cost of £1,969.99 (posted in the current year) a charge of £125.83 was posted
SO, for the asset posted in the prior year the system ONLY posts correcting depn due to the change in the useful life for the financial year you are in, not for periods in prior year(s). This is wrong! The system does not work as it should and this cannot be fixed by "changing the depn rate to accelerate depn in the financial year and then again for the rest of its useful life", as this would be working out a specific rate per asset to post the update and then changing it again going forward. This is clearly unworkable.
So, that leaves three options:
- do nothing and don't change the useful life
- find a way to post a manual journal to the FAR to account for the issue
- post a manual journal to the P&L/BS outside the FAR and accept that there is a reconciliation issue between the BS and the FAR for the difference, as it is not possible to post the correct adjustment through the FAR.This issue is a problem - the system incorrectly and this needs to be corrected/fixed.

Branding - Invoice merge field for contact's payment terms
Having recently created a custom invoice template for our business I wanted to include a merge field for payment terms (e.g. "30 days form date of invoice") next to the invoice due date field. Unfortunately customer payment terms, even though a data field in the contact record, is not available to incorporate in a customer invoice template. In my opinion this would be a useful addition to the custom invoice functionality.

Bills - Bill template that includes legal tax invoice
In our business we make use of the bill feature to create a legal tax invoice on behalf of our suppliers and currently the Bills don't give me a legal tax invoice?
Can we get a Bill template created that give us a legal tax invoice made out on behalf of the Supplier for the Supplier? Its called selfbilling and is a feature that is critical to our business as the Supplier dont always know what to invoice and we do this on their behalf and this has been legally agreed with the tax authorities.
However currently the Bill template is not sufficient as a legal tax invoice from the supplier!

Sales overview - Add a Sent column onto the Draft tab
1) When creating a draft invoice, and draft invoice is emailed out, it would be good to see from the 'home' page in the 'draft' folder, which invoices have been emailed. This could simply be an icon of an envelope, for example, that shows on the right hand side when the invoice has been emailed (yes even in draft form).
2) When viewing an invoice, a 'previous/back' and 'next' button to move to the next sequential invoice number (either forward or back) would be great, rather than having to back to 'draft' or 'awaiting payment' folder and then selecting next invoice.1) When creating a draft invoice, and draft invoice is emailed out, it would be good to see from the 'home' page in the 'draft' folder, which invoices have been emailed. We try to keep one idea per thread to make it clear for others to know what they're voting for and be able to share this information back with our product teams.
When you say next and back buttons - would this be when only viewing an invoice (not taking any action)? Reason being, is that there are Save and Approve options from the drop down that'd allow you to move onto the next invoice in the list or add a new one - More detail on this here
I'll slightly adjust the title here to reflect your first idea, but are welcome to start another if the current approve and next options are sufficient and we can get a feel for the interest around that separately.
