  1. Manual journals have to be saved as a draft first. Then they need to be edited to be posted. This is an unnecessary step. Or if it is required, it should be role based.

  2. When working in the manual journals, you receive a message that the journal is out of balance. It would be great if this message also advised the amount of the out of balance.

  3. The system currently does not display who posted the journal in either XWP or Xero (specific user).

    Updates made to journals in Xero are not reflected in the XWP Manual Journal Summary.

    Additionally, XWP only allows journals to be voided—there is no option to delete them.

  5. Mak the button to notify preparer / reviewer more prominent. The notifications are buried in a menu make them more prominent so the reviewer and preparer can notify each other when tasks have been completed

  6. Can we have a spot that we look at all workpapers, instead of having to click into each, this is something that reviewers find frustrating & creates a barrier for older partners (less tech inclined) - like the old ones "Analytical Review", if you don't add a link on "Working Trial Balance",

    This is if we cannot have the links in the "Working trial Balance"

    Hi team, thanks for your inputs here. This is an idea that our product team are exploring and considering how they improve the collaboration. For now we'll shift into discovery and I'll share when there is more news around this.

  7. We need to be able to send the Client Queries to a client.

    The old Xero Workpapers allowed us to send a notification to a client's email, and the client would answer the queries and upload their documents which would be automatically imported into the old Xero Workpapers.

  8. When preparing monthly or quarterly workpapers, we would like to be able to select the comparison period as last month, quarter or end of last financial year. Not just the same period last year.

  9. In the old workpapers, you had the ability to generate the income tax journal to post to the Xero file. It would be very useful to have this option again in the new workpapers.

  11. The export produces a single PDF. It would be preferable if the export could instead provide a ZIP file containing the individual documents.

    Hi April, I've just split this from your original idea here so we can gauge interest in being able to delete a Manual Journal separately.

    Currently it's possible to Delete a Manual Journal while its in Draft, but like you noted can only be Voided once posted.

    We'd like to get a better view of the interest in this from your idea here, and I'll let you know if there are any updates. Thanks!

  13. The franking credits workpaper is very handy but is almost pointless when preparing the tax return as you need to go back to the source documents to obtain the dates of payment. When ideally prefilling from the Tax Office, having the dates come through or being able to add the dates manually will assist with compiling the tax return.

  14. The income tax workpaper has the balance sheet workpaper. Unfortunately, you have to add an 'other adjustment' to record the prior year tax payment. It would be very helpful to have at least one line called 'prior year tax paid'.

  15. To improve clarity and usability, please consider reorganizing the layout in the following order: Assets → Liabilities → Equity → Revenue → Expenses.

    In addition, including a Net Profit/(Loss) summary at the bottom—or displaying Current Year Earnings within the Equity section—would provide users with a clearer financial overview.

  16. The prepayment workpaper should have the facility to calculate the amount to amortise which was there in previous Xero Workpapers.

We have reviewed this and moved it to Gaining Support, this means that others can vote and comment on this Idea. We will be watching the progress of this Idea and any updates will be posted here.   17. We need the ability to be able to see which accounts have changed when we refresh the data as the work flow at the moment makes it more cumbersome for example:

    • preparer drafts manual journals > marks as ready for review
    • reviewer reviews and says everything looks good ok to post manual journals
    • preparer posts manual journals and updates the status of everything to ready to review as they go and then when they refresh everything goes back to rework required

  18. Whilst the 'Updated' yellow tag on the Workpaper and specific account is useful, it would be an improvement to also show the difference between the approved workpaper and the new updated account balance after the balances have been refreshed. It will make it very simple to identify the updates needed for the workpaper.

    Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your thoughts on workpaper variance displays. It’s helpful to understand how seeing the difference between approved workpapers and updated account balances could support your workflow.

    The community team has reviewed your idea and moved it into Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If you’re able to add a bit more detail about your use case, it may help others understand the value and give the product team clearer context.

  19. It would be extremely useful to be able to roll over manual journals in draft within the workpapers pack. We have a number of situations where this would be very handy: recording FBT contributions, recording dividends, recording income tax expense, recording trust and partnership distributions. Just having the journal in draft to potentially use would save a lot of time when you have multiple lines to setup.
