  1. Aside from the fact that they are now miles apart, separated by a massive and unnecessary white wall of nothing.. the icons are too small (relative to the space available) and inconspicuous.

    Compare a Query on old workpapers to a Note on new workpapers.

    The old flag stands out like a sore thumb (as it should, it's a flag for a reason). Colour/contrast.

    The new note has changed the outline of the icon from black to light blue, coloured in the number blue (like the blue circle next to every account).

    This is not helpful.

  2. Currently when an individual set of workpapers are marked as Completed, they can be then changed by a Preparer without it alerting the reviewer that the Workpaper is now not reviewed for that change.

    Once a workpaper is marked as completed, if any change occurs after this, it should be changed to In Progress immediately automatically (similar to how it changes from Not Started to In Progress). This would prevent that Workpaper from being changed without the reviewer being alerted.

    I would have deep concerns about knowing all Workpaper integrity has been maintained without this feature or a feature like…

  3. Despite the fact I raised this years ago, it was ignored when building the new Workpapers (ironically, this workpaper is one of the few that mimics the original Workpapers layout).

    The Income Tax workpaper (attached):
    a. correctly shows 4 x current year PAYG Instalments in the 2025 Tax to pay/(refund) section
    b. correctly shows the prior year June PAYG Instalment in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section
    c. incorrectly automatically includes the current year June PAYG Instalment (copied from the section above), in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section

    99.99% of the time, the prior year June…

  4. Can the spreadsheet have more formatting options - like borders so that you can have a top and bottom border on a total cell? Bold type?

    Also, it needs more functionality like being able to select the range of cells to sum =sum(select cells using mouse) instead of manually typing in the range.

    When you copy and paste from Excel formatting is lost and you cannot add additional lines past where the data pastes if past row 20 (The data itself can paste to additional rows). If data goes to row 19, you cannot insert additional lines past 20 either.

    Hi community, appreciate the desire for more formatting in new Workpapers and this is something our product team would like to explore more but with a few other items in the pipeline atm isn't road mapped just yet.

    We'll continue to gauge the interest in this idea and as soon as there are updates I'll share with you all, here.

  5. Manual journals have to be saved as a draft first. Then they need to be edited to be posted. This is an unnecessary step. Or if it is required, it should be role based.

  6. Prefer to have one set of workpapers completed in a single software. Within Xero workpapers have ability to attach excel template to specific workpapers for completion eg live stock workpaper, overdrawn current account, hire purchase workpaper, etc.
    The most important workpapers have calculations that are required outside of verifying an account balance. Eg those mentioned above.
    If unable to have all workpapers in one place, it's easier to stay with current excel pack.

  7. When documents are attached to line items, could they please also show in the Supporting documents section? Currently, they only appear again if you click the line item.

    For example, on the Bank Reconciliation workpaper, a statement has been attached to each bank account line, but when the workpaper is opened again, you only know something is attached due to the icon under Actions. You have to click on the line item for the supporting document to appear below (which isn't intuitive).

    Everything attached should show in the Supporting documents section, as per the old Workpapers.

  8. Ability to edit the checklist item. Currently we can only delete and re-type a checklist item not edit anything that is existing

  9. I created a new Workpapers and selected the financial year (eg. 1 Aug 2024 to 31 Jul 2025) during creation, but after creation completes the wrong period shows (31 Jul 2024 to 30 Jul 2025). First - There should be a way to change the financial period after creating? Second - Should be able delete the workpaper if created in error. Admin rights restriction should be applied to both.

  10. A little UI matter, I know the column widths will scale depending on the window size; however, when I go into the Income Tax workpaper, the spacing seems quite wide even in a smaller split-screen window. It would be nice if the column widths were narrower

  11. The income tax workpaper has the balance sheet workpaper. Unfortunately, you have to add an 'other adjustment' to record the prior year tax payment. It would be very helpful to have at least one line called 'prior year tax paid'.

  12. Currently it defaults to In Progress and I can't seem to change that? At least in Old Workpapers we had On Hold, which we used if there were queries with the client and the job was stalled. And Done, when it was out for signing and waiting for the workpapers to be signed off. It would be really handy to a) be able to customise the Status, and then b) change it.

    Also I tried the Notify feature and that didn't update Status to Ready for Review either
    Otherwise looking at my client view of all workpapers in progress, we…

  13. Mak the button to notify preparer / reviewer more prominent. The notifications are buried in a menu make them more prominent so the reviewer and preparer can notify each other when tasks have been completed

  14. Profit distribution accounts might have an EXP in the report code (and Xero might force us to use Expenses as the account type in Xero).. but they're not expenses.

    Xero has split Revenue, COGS and Expenses across three workpapers.. but still lumped profit distribution accounts in Expenses.

  15. The system currently does not display who posted the journal in either XWP or Xero (specific user).

    Updates made to journals in Xero are not reflected in the XWP Manual Journal Summary.

    Additionally, XWP only allows journals to be voided—there is no option to delete them.

  16. Currently all values show as $. Working papers needs to reflect the currency used in Xero. Be that ZAR, GBP etc

  17. Journals (General Journals, Manual Journals) are inherently an ACCRUALS transaction. Not cash.

    Manual Journals can't be recorded against a bank account in Xero.

    Manual Journals should NOT be Cash Basis by default. They should be Accruals ONLY, by default. Xero should give you the OPTION to include your Manual Journals on cash based reports.

  18. It's bad enough that new Workpapers only show "Variance" for CY vs LY rather than CY vs supporting Workpapers (the whole point of workpapers).

    This is not a Variance... it is a Change or Movement.

    Variance is defined as:
    - the fact or quality of being different, divergent, or inconsistent
    - the state or fact of disagreeing or quarrelling
    - a discrepancy between two statements or documents

    You'll notice that these all suggest a variance is not good (it's a difference of facts, quality, disagreement, discrepancy).

  19. When amending the Workpaper templates, it would be useful to be able to "edit" the checklist items without having to delete them and reset them.

    It would be useful to be able to set the order of the checklists rather than defaulting to alphabetical.

    It would be useful to be able to prepare a personalised checklist in this space as well.

    We tend to tweak items from time to time. NOT reset them.

    If this can be included as an individual feature as well that would be good. As some clients do not require these items to be done.
