Sales Invoices - Combine and hide line items for customers
Ability to combine and hide line items in the invoices.
Purpose: To have good accounting and tracking of sales without showing the client the breakdown of all the items involved
Hi everyone, thank you for your continued passion, and sharing how having the ability to group or combine line items within an invoice would give you the control to present information to your clients in the best way for your business.
In lieu of a direct feature, while I appreciate it won’t fit all needs here, the inbuilt calculator may help in some cases to combine costs of multiple lines to one, and we appreciate there are some customers that have explored third-party apps with more extensive functionality for the time being to full-fill their needs.
We’re updating the status of this idea to Accepted - While this isn’t on our roadmap atm, we see the value in this suggestion and it’ll be considered as we plan our future roadmap. We’ll update this thread if we have any more news to share.

This feature would help me out a great deal, as I like to give clients the total without each line item for them to query, and then be able to show them a detail breakdown if they request it

This would be really useful, it could be as simple as having an additional field available in Invoices, called 'Summary' or 'Line Item Summary' which could be merged into a custom invoice template and used in the description line for the subtotal.

This is second to top of my desperately wished for , for many YEARS now, along with access options in the reporting module reporting for our practice & client data sets. (Oddly, I don't need/want our sales ledger or purchase ledger clerk to see what other staff, directors etc etc earn or what the company's profit is/isn't this month....)
Back to the issue - yes, I need granular structure in my invoices for internal reporting, but a simple subtotalled for example invoice to issue to clients. I need both, from the same invoice, with no faffing or trendy 'workarounds'.
Ever more apps, good revenue stream for Xero, but the product stays fundamentally the same.
But at least we can see 10 instead of 8 items in the bank feed screen now. That was jaw dropping disappointment after all the hype.
