Quote - Get a link that can be shared externally
Ability to get quote links so users can also send it from their own/other email address.
Purpose: To simplify the current workflow. As users’ currently sending a quote to themselves from Xero, and then copy the link out of there.
Hi everyone, we totally get the expectation here for quotes to have an online invoice view considering this is available for Invoices.
We appreciate the desire for more consistency across the Sales experience from end-to-end.
With this in mind, we’d like to share that our Product team has picked up this idea as part of work they're exploring right now. I’ll keep you in the know as it moves along! 😊

I just migrated to Xero and it's completely bonkers that you can't share a link to a quote.

Is this a feature that is in motion? I can't understand how invoices can have a sharable link, but quotes can't. It is honestly such an essential feature.

The glacial pace that simple and obvious features are added to Xero is depressing. Are there any updates on when this will be added?

4 to 10 times a daily I say "bloody xero" when I have to email myself to get a share link.
we've wasted more time than the developers would take to add a simply "copy link" to quotes.
PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE FIX THIS XERO

I'm also constantly affected by the lack of this very simple feature and am going to continue to request it through this thread.

Yes! I have needed this function 4 times in the last week.

Perhaps we should all start leaving a comment on every time the lack of this feature aggravates us.
For me, that's 3-4 times per business day as I have to email myself a quote to get the link, to send to a client. Infuriating.
We've started looking at Stripe and MYOB alternatives. Too many Xero missing features. They're spending all their resources trying to acquire new customers rather than support their exisiting.

Hello, any update on this addition? To reiterate, it's absurd that we need to send the quote to ourselves first before being able to get the link.

@Nick Unwin I use Harvest for quoting and invoicing (and timekeeping). I believe it can integrate with Xero but given how poor Xero is in general I'm not holding my breath.

@Timmy O'Mahony, agreed. Drives me mad. We're in the process of looking at Stripe for quoting and invoicing. What system did you move to?
Because even if Xero did implement this, right behind it needs to be "accept & pay" because this break between accepting a quote and then us having to convert to an invoice so the customer can pay is so clunky.
At the current rate, this should be ready by the time bitcoin is the only remaining global currency

Just FYI, this missing feature alone has made me stop using quoting and invoicing altogether and I’m now looking at alternative accounting apps in general as the lack of consistency between invoicing and quoting is astounding. Missing such a basic feature such as copying a link is unforgivable. It’s been nearly ten years since this was suggested 😂

Another reason this would be useful is that the quote emails sent by Xero don't always come quickly. As I type this, I'm sitting around reloading my email inbox waiting for a quote to show up just so I have the link to send to the customer. If this was an invoice, I would have just used the "Get link" option and been done.

It's worth noting that Xero invoices currently offer this feature from the "three dots" option menu and this would be a perfect place to add this on quotes. Xero could make the quote and invoice menus more consistent in order and wording at the same time. The first three items in the invoice menu are "Edit", "Email", "Get link". For quotes, it calls them "Revise" and "Send" and puts them in different spots in the menu. And of course quotes don't even have a "Get link" option, which is the point of this suggestion. Right now I have to send the quote to myself in email just to get the link!

Please add this functionality. Hopeless quoting function when having to send separately from an email.

Any risk of hearing from Xero about this? Or chance of a simple 'copy link' button being implemented?
3-4 times a day this frustrates me. Xero is not great for business who quote jobs often.

Wow - its been years asking for this feature...
In the meantime, I've found a workaround if people are interested?
You make sure you are copied into the sending of the quote email - it's a little checkbox in Xero (the email actually includes the link itself).
- Then redirect the email you've received to an email parsing service.
- Using APIs this then 'rips out the URL',
- finds the record to add URL to (in your CRM - eg. ClickMovements or Hubspot or Salesforce)
- adds URL to the Deal/Contact record. You can then send it automatically wherever or use it to trigger automations or dripped reminders - really powerful. Get in touch if you'd like some help. Steve - steve@clickmovements.com

This is becoming a key feature request with our clients using Xero. The quotes system is so similar to the invoice system surely it could be enabled without to much effort.
Not sure if here or on user voice site does Xero developers use to decide on? - https://xero.uservoice.com/forums/5528-accounting-api/suggestions/45208057-expose-the-online-quotes-url-via-the-xero-api -
