Quotes: Hide line item cost
When we create quotes we do not want the individual cost to be sent to the client as we may increase or decrease price depending on actual needs. Therefore I would like to send a quote with all the products/services itemized but not individual cost just a TOTAL?
Hi team, thank you for sharing how this feature could improve your use of Quotes in Xero.
While it takes a little work in setup, you could currently use an advanced branding theme and make changes to the docx template to remove fields you don't want shown to the customer.
Being open this isn't something we have direct plans for developing right now, however we'll continue to track the appetite her and share if there are any updates.

Hello team, touching base as we are Xero users too and had this problem - it lead us to build Invoice Polish to solve this, and some other invoicing issues like users wishing to hide and group invoice line items to hide details from clients. Works for both quotes and invoices.
Simply login with new credentials or with your xero login, connect your organisation, and off you go. Its free to try and the login process uses Xero's own Oath2 portal to keep everything secure.
All your invoices and quotes stay in xero with their detailed account breakdowns - the changes you make with Invoice Polish do not affect your Xero invoices / quotes in anyway. There's an explainer video on the main page - love to hear your feedback if you think we are missing anything.

Great to see that my idea has been merged with this one - I received an email mentioning this was so they could be considered together, which feels like a really positive step.
Fingers crossed they will start to actively review, as I genuinely believe it could be beneficial for everyone and add real value to Xero if taken forward.

Back in 2022 I asked for the following and never had a response? Seems I am not the only one who would like this option please . The history is on the chat.

Can this please be reviewed? There seems to be a lot of people who would also like the option of when sending, sending a final figure not line cost options?

Has this issue been resolved? Removing the price column doesn’t help if the same figure is still visible in the amount field. I only want my customers to see the total, nothing else.

Currently, Xero Quotes does not seem to provide a way to group related line items under a single heading while maintaining a clear and customer-friendly layout.
In practice, many quotes are made up of multiple components (for example, materials, labour, and equipment), where each section includes several individual cost items. While this level of detail is important internally for pricing accuracy and cost tracking, displaying every line item to the customer can make quotes appear cluttered and harder to understand.
**Suggested improvement:**
Introduce a grouped or “folder-style” structure within quotes, allowing:
* A main line item (e.g. “Materials – £1,000”) to act as a group header
* Individual items (e.g. fibre, trays, tie wraps, junction boxes) to sit within that group
* The group total to automatically calculate from the underlying items
* Only the main group line to be visible to the customer by default
* The option to show or hide the detailed breakdown for the customer when required
* The detailed breakdown to remain visible internally for reporting and audit purposes
* The ability for this structure (and visibility settings) to carry through to invoicing
* Multiple groups to be used within the same quote**Impact:**
* Cleaner, more professional quotes for customers
* Retains detailed internal cost breakdowns without manual workarounds
* Better aligns Xero Quotes with real-world quoting workflows**Example:**
Materials – £1,000
* Fibre £750
* Trays £200
* Tie wraps £15
* Junction boxes £35Customer view: Materials – £1,000
Internal view: full breakdownThis functionality would significantly improve both the presentation and accuracy of quotes, while removing the need for current formatting workarounds.

Hello - https://invoicepolish.com does exactly this - it extracts all the info from your xero invoice / quote to build a new one that you have control over every aspect of - including turning on and off subtotals for line items, so that you can list items in your quote / invoice without showing a dollar value.

At the moment we add each item to help us create the quote, then once we have the totals, we remove them all and just add one custom line item grouping all required items together by type to send to the client. It's time consuming, poor inventory management, and makes ordering parts and invoicing much more difficult than it needs to be. But it's crucial for our business - we don't need clients seeing every part or product involved in the job. A simplified version for clients is critical.

Quotes need to be able to send simplified view to customer without all the itemized amounts

Our business provides lump sum quotes. While we list individual products/services for clarity, we do not show a cost per item (row). As a workaround - we hide the 'quantity' and 'price' columns however we still use the inventory item feature to automatically import the individual product/service. We then include a row at the bottom of the quote with the lump sum, account & tax rate.
Problem:
When the 'Quantity' and 'Price' columns are hidden via quote settings, the 'Amount' column incorrectly displays 0.00 when a product is selected from the 'Item' column. If the item is manually typed in 'Description' column, the 0.00 does not display in 'Amount' column.Expected Behavior:
When selecting a product from the 'Item' column and both 'Quantity' and 'Price' columns are hidden, the 'Amount' column should:Either be hidden entirely
OR
Leave as blank - without showing 0.00There is no workaround for this. I can't even delete the 0.00 from the amount column. I have to manually enter the product items to avoid the 0.00 from appearing.
Please either fix this bug ( it has worked before on/off depending on browser) or provide another option for construction businesses to provide a lump sum on their quote. Refer to attached example.

Sort of I would prefer the ability to view the product cost + GP or Margin when I am making up a quote, not all get the same price.

I have done my private project at my home and I had more than dozen contractors. All contractors quoting list of items with no individual price showing but rather Total cost as a sum. The reason for this is multiple flexibility. The most critical for example I quoted big domestic renovation job and listed all items including individual pricing. About 30 items.The customer asked me to delete some items and he picked up the easiest tasks to do to be deleted and left us more difficult ones. We ended up with no profit margin and no even cover our cost. The other reason is our quotation at renovation job is an estimate and you may quote some items reasonable well but when you start doing a job you may face few issues one task may take 4 times labour then quoted because you faced the problem. Having says that when doing quotation like the tendering company they do itemise all tasks so the technicians know what to do and hiding individual pricing. I had a customer come to me and asking me hundreds of questions by compering our quote with the competitor : why this item yours is more expensive and why this item is cheaper and so on.
I had another example the customer asked us to delete few easy items and asked us to do the reminder of tasks telling us can't afford it. Late on he called another technician to complete the job. (Guess the reason easy tasks he get it cheaper).
I am using Simpro Suite and simpro has this flexibility like many other apps and I want to leave Simpro because I am doubling my files -

When quoting it would be good to have a sub total line only option so that the customer doesn't see individual items & amounts that have been used to compile the quote.

when quoting/invoicing it should not show an individual itemised list along with costs for every individual thing, it should show an overall quote, it would be good to offer breakdowns withing the quote for multiple stages
