  1. Though I am grateful and happy that the "New Invoice - Cursor Default Position" was resolved, thank you, it is now affecting the amount of time it takes for the draft to autosave after entering/selecting the contact. The amount of time it takes for the draft to autosave is significantly longer now than it was before the cursor position was fixed. The draft is still "saving" even after I have entered the rest of the information into the date, invoice number, and reference fields. And yes, I have let it complete saving before moving on to any other fields, it…

Thanks for sharing, Angela. With the way autosave works, you should be able to just keep drafting your invoice and it will save in the background. So you don't need to wait.

If you're noticing a significant lag in the invoice saving, this is best investigated by our team of specialists. I'd recommend raising a case with our Xero Support team on Xero Central who can take a closer look into this with you 1-on-1 🙂.

  2. I’ve integrated Pabbly Connect with Xero to automatically create invoices. The workflow in Pabbly shows a successful execution, but not all invoices are actually being created in Xero.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Is there a way to debug what might be going wrong between the successful webhook execution and invoice creation in Xero?

    Additional Details:

The webhook receives all required data including customer, line items, and invoice date.

Pabbly workflow shows "Success" status after sending data to Xero.

However, when I check Xero, some invoices are missing entirely.

No error message is shown in Pabbly.

    This happens only…

  3. The Classic Invoicing allows .eml (downloaded emails) to drag and drop into invoices from downloads. The new invoicing DOES NOT allow this. Please reinstate this function to the new invoicing as it is an essential part of loading invoices (uploading (drag & drop) downloaded emails providing instructions and authorization evidence for auditors). Kelly, please confirm that this function will be continued in the new invoicing. Thank you.

Appreciate you highlighting this, Gemma - Understand what you mean with the .eml file upload within new invoicing.

I see you recently connected with our specialists at Xero Support on this who directed you here, however this would be best for us to investigate deeper with you. I've re-opened your case and our team will be in touch directly soon so we can get more insight into this one.

So, while I'll move the idea here to Not planned we're definitely interested to explore this further but best done 1-on-1. 🙂 Thanks

  4. New Invoicing - bring back the 'save and continue adding' button in drafts, a feature classic invoicing offered. When completing invoices with multiple lines it is imperative that it you can save during input without having to save and close. Especially now that the new invoicing is unreliable.

Hi Meradene, as new invoicing also encompasses auto save there is no need to manually save your invoice. Once you've added a Contact, as you move between fields of your invoice Xero will continuously save any data you've entered.

It sounds like you may be having trouble with this though and if you're finding you're loosing information you've entered I'd really encourage reaching out to our specialists at Xero Support who can take a closer look to investigate what's going on for you.

Hi Zachary, appreciate you sharing your feedback on how you'd find Xero even more powerful for your business.

Being upfront we don't typically develop integrations ourselves. However we have a Developer Centre where interested parties can get information if they'd like to develop an integration with Xero.

I'd recommend connecting with Nab bookKeeper to see if this is something they'd be interested in building and you're welcome to share the link above.

  6. Customer Statements - Would be good if customer statements could include a prepayment balance somewhere on the statement. My client receives a lot of prepayments and would like customers to be able to see at a glance their remaining credit.

Hi team, wanting to jump in to provide a little clarity as there are 2 different points arising through this idea.

Currently, customer prepayments will only be shown on a customer's Activity statement, not Outstanding statements.

The way prepayments work in Xero, these only impact the Accounts receivable once it's applied to an invoice, therefore they don't impact the total of the statement balance.

If you want to impact the total balance, you may want to consider entering these sort of payments as Overpayments in your account. You can read more on how this works in our Xero central article.

To be open here, we don't have any short term plans for changing how these transaction types are treated in statements.

  7. Can there be a system setting which controls the default option on Invoices for the Approve button.
It is currently Approve & Email and we would like to have the default as just Approve.

If it was a system setting companies could chose best option for them.

Hi team, thank you for your thorough feedback in this idea. We appreciate there are different preferences our users have when approving invoices in Xero and just to re-highlight - there are now keyboard shortcuts available for most action buttons in invoicing to help navigate and quickly select the option you prefer rather than the drop down selection.

Though we understand it is not the news you're hoping here we want to be transparent that there are no plans at this stage to add the ability to set your own default for the Approve button in invoicing.

We will continue to track the support this idea keeps building and be sure to let you know if there is any change to the status of this idea, here.

  8. Unable to add credit note to an existing invoice in the new system.

You can choose from the click down box - Create and Apply credit -
    - the next screen is the credit note with all the details from the invoice, But .. it doesn't add the name of the company/person to credit note
    - when you click on approve it can't save it as there is no name.
    - I can't see where you can add the name.

You have to create a new credit note, and manually transfer the details over from the invoice to the new…

Hi Lukasz, what payment provider do you use? Just incase you haven't seen we've launched Tap to Pay powered by Stripe which is now available in a few different regions.

In terms of connecting to direct payment terminals, this would typically be through an integration. We don't generally develop integrations with applications ourselves however you may want to see if there's an integration in the app marketplace that works with your provider and could offer the services you're after here.

  10. When syncing invoices from Joblogic to Xero, they post straight to approved status - can a feature be added so they can be posted to 'awaiting approval' to avoid dating errors on the invoices?

Hi Parris, many of our applications have designed and built their integration with Xero themselves. They are best placed to engage with on any changes you feel could enhance your experience when integrating data from their application to Xero.

  12. Invoices have a Date field with the temporal resolution of YYYY-MM-DD (despite there being numeric values to support time as well).
This field shows the date that the invoice is created. It would be wonderful if the invoices had a time field, with the timestamp that the invoice was created.
Fundamentally, this is extremely similar to UpdatedDateUTC.

Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.

There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.

Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.

    • Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
    • If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
    • Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero

    We appreciate…

  14. New invoicing version makes me tick 'Include files as attachments' for every invoice I send off, whereas the old invoicing remembered my defaults. I prefer the old way where my preferences were saved.

New invoicing also cannot preview attachments, it always has to open a new tab to view an attachment. Old invoicing I could preview an attachment on a pop up within the same browser tab. I prefer just viewing the attachment quick within the same screen, I personally don't like having another tab that needs closing.

Invoicing notes are inaccurate. For example; the system keeps marking invoiced as…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing developed. All your feedback here is being shared with the team as they continue to iterate and develop this new experience.

That said, in order for us to get a better understanding of interest for the different points raised here it's best for us to track and update any progress on these each separately. We appear to have ideas for each of the points mentioned in the thread here and I've linked these below so you can join and follow any updates for each.

  15. I recently commented about the new invoicing not showing credit notes available, what I didn't realise that this was only for Repeating Invoices, not standard generated invoices which do infact show the credit available.

Some of our regular clients like to prepay so there are often credits to use. Upon approving a repeating invoice, the classic used to say there was a credit available on that contact, click here to use it. There is no such feature on the new repeating invoicing to indicate there is a credit available you have to go and manually check. As well as not…

Hi Claire, I've tried replicating your scenario here using both a newly created and an existing repeating template.

In both cases when I open an invoice that has been generated from the template and credit is available I can see an option on the invoice to Apply credit (as shown in my image)

Could you please raise a case on this with our Xero support team on Xero Central. They have tools to be able to look into this deeper and confirm what's going on and why credit is not appearing for application in your invoices.

  16. There are so many disadvantages to the new invoicing. All my points have been covered in previous ideas so have voted for them. This note is to add my frustrations to everyone else's on this supposed "faster" way to invoice.

I have even had a customer say the GST was wrong and had to revert to the classic invoicing to fix then return to the new version.

This whole new version is not my favourite and I will be recommended to my clients to consider other software if these Xero "improvements" continue to disappoint. There are other improvements that disappoint…

Thank you for your feedback, Kathy - I've made sure your feedback here has also been shared with our product team and thank you for also adding your voice and votes to specific ideas across the forums here.

We will move the thread here itself to not planned, however we will continue to iterate new invoicing to keep improving the experience for all our customers.

  17. New invoicing has to go, it is aboslute rubbish and does not work, The new reporting si so bad and hard to work along with the latest change I will likely leave. And no one at xero wants to talk to you, and one reply i saw was basically gaslighting every one into a tough ti..ies it is changing. keep old invoices, and work on weaknesses like inventory for small businesses.

Sorry to hear you're not liking some of our changes in Xero, Fiona. I've made sure to share your feedback here with the team but want to be honest that we will be retiring classic invoicing in September and we will move the idea here to not planned. However, that said we are committed to continuing to build on new invoicing.

I understand you've seen some of our responses elsewhere and as you may have seen some of the ideas on the site that relate to changes that you'd like to see I encourage you add your vote and join these for any updates. If there's not an existing idea for a particular change you'd like to see please do add it, our product team are taking on board all feedback we're receiving on this.

  18. Draft Bills - Ability to create Credits from Draft Bill sent directly to Xero email

Suppliers email credits as well as Bills, why not have the ability to process a bill or credit through this area, a supplier is not going to invoice credits to one email address and invoices to another. Why can we not select if it is a bill or credit and process.

Purpose: to allow processing of credits through the Draft Bills seamless

cost effective: reduce the need for additional software such as dext or hubdoc, use xero.

Current process: open the Draft Credit, download the…

Hi community, thank you to everyone who's shared and supported the ability to email credit notes to Xero.

We understand why you'd like to be able to automate the flow and entry of Credit Notes in Xero, however this isn't something we have plans of developing within Xero right now.

As mentioned in my last update it's possible to currently automate entry of Credit Notes in Xero, by publishing these through Hubdoc -You can find steps to connecting Hubdoc to your Xero organisation, or detail on publishing Credit notes, on Xero Central.

If there are any changes put in place for this, we'll let you know.

Thanks for also sharing screenshots, Moyra. Appreciate wanting consistency in actions across Xero like this. New invoicing is built on updated technology, bills and other pages you see across Xero with the image in your first screenshot are yet to under go this update, however as we get to them they will adopt the same similar components and layouts that you see in new invoicing today. So while I'll move your idea here to not planned as we will not be updating the buttons in new invoicing, you can expect to see this same layout in other places across Xero overtime.

  20. In original invoicing the Chrome CopyTables extension worked to copy the data from the invoice into Excel for creating pivot tables; that feature doesn't work in new invoicing. We work with multiple vendors on a single project and it's significantly easier to place those orders by copying the tables from Xero into Excel and creating a pivot table. If the base code can't be adjusted to work with extensions like that than being able to export an invoice as a CSV would be helpful.
