Add Geofencing to Xero Payroll for Seamless Timesheet Automation

I’d like to suggest adding a geofencing feature within Xero Payroll to improve how employee timesheets are recorded and approved.

With geofencing, employees could automatically clock in and out when they enter or leave a designated work location (set by GPS coordinates). This would remove the need for manual time entries or paper-based sign-ins, ensuring timesheets are accurate and reducing administrative workload.

Key Benefits:

Accurate time tracking: Automatic capture of start and end times when employees arrive or leave job sites.

Reduced manual errors: Eliminates forgotten or incorrect timesheet entries.

Improved compliance: Provides a verifiable digital record of attendance and hours worked.

Seamless payroll integration: Automatically syncs approved hours directly into Xero Payroll, ready for processing.

Flexibility for multiple sites: Ideal for businesses with mobile teams, trades, construction, or hospitality where staff work across different locations.

How it could work:

Admins define one or more geofenced zones within Xero (e.g., office, warehouse, job site).

Employees use the Xero Me app (or a similar interface) with location permissions enabled.

When an employee enters a zone, the system records a clock-in; when they exit, it records a clock-out.

The timesheet is generated automatically, ready for review and payroll approval.

This feature would make Xero an even more powerful and efficient tool for managing mobile and onsite workforces.

We use bundyplus.com.au which has geofence and import the timesheets into xero.

Currently looking at alternatives to Xero that offer this functionality. It is vital for us to prevent wage theft.

Such a shame xero me is not listening as this desperately needs a gps tracker so we know where employees are clocking in and out, lift your game guys.

Please add this feature. GPS clocks would be great for tradesmen

Location and time tracking, as it stands you can only enter start and finish time. Be good to have a login and logout to track worked hours in real time not just estimating. Location tracking through the timesheet would also help with when switching jobs.

it would be great it Xero created a timesheet that employees can clock in and out of tracking categories with a gps and time tracker so companies have better time management and job costings. this will save companies having to use other apps/systems for employee tracking purposes.

As well as;

Salary employees being able to use timesheets that don't tamper with their salary that is set within payroll. That allows their hours & costings to still be accumulated over the tracking categories they do within their time sheets. This will help companies have a better break down of their job costings and hours spent on the jobs or areas within the company, which will reflect better on their profit and loss's.

I need to see where staff are logging on

very important to ascertain where or how far from the workplace an employee is clocking on/out

would be extremely valuable for our company

For XeroMe to compete with apps like BundyPlusNow,you need to include GEOFENCING functionality i.e. using phone's GPS to only allow clock-in/out within a certain distance of the workplace.

This is the reason I don't use Xero's timesheets as this is a necessity for construction workers so extra time can't be added after leaving sites. GPS tracking would make life easier then everyrhing can be completed via Xero for my business.
