AU Payroll - Streamline deduction payments
Under the employees deductions sections during payroll, if one has salary sacrifice, child support, and any other deductions, you have to process the pay run initially. And then you would have to manually do a separate payment to a payee
Is it possible to have a payee that can be linked to the payroll deductions. Meaning when you run your payroll, the deductions will go against the payee and when the payroll aba file is created, the payee will be included in that aba file
Alternatively create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently deductions can only be managed via balance sheet and/or by adding reimbursement to enable it to be transferred via EFT. Quickbooks and some other payroll software have this ability and it makes life so much easier and clearer for the emlployee too.
Hi team. We can see it's been a while since we've provided you with an update about this idea. We've reviewed and it looks like it's an idea that's steadily Gaining Support.
Whilst this idea isn't currently on our product team's roadmap, we're monitoring the activity and will keep you updated as we go.

We need this in NZ also - MYOB payroll used to automatically pay court fines etc to the correct bank account...

I agreed with Kerrie, Child Support has been calling me every month to ask for STP report for child support payments and I told them Xero isn't capable of doing that just yet. We also have to update the figures on payment register (the bank acct) every time we make the changes as it's not on ABA file. HD

Please Xero, put this on your roadmap. Every time an employee doesn't meet the minimum threshold, the Child Support agency phones us to confirm who is paying what. It is currently very time consuming and open for error. We're starting to think it is time to look at another program as we currently only use xero for payroll only.

This should be a priority for Xero, I could imagine if you have several payments that it would be a nightmare and open to so many errors if not fixed. It could be a good way to test the waters before we all need to pay Super on payment of wages.

Please team, this is a simple fix, it has been 2 years. Please look into this issue and resolve. HD

Very much agree with these comments regarding a shortfall in the software regarding child support/and other payroll deductions not currently being able to be added in .aba I noticed this first post was over one year ago and would envisage that it would be quite a simple Xero fix.

I agree. I've worked many different scenarios on how to work around this. Our previous payroll software had the ability to assign a BSB & account number to a deduction, specifically for this purpose. I've found no great work around as yet & am having to do a separate manual payment to accomidate.

I am sure I have raised this in the past and it has dropped off the planet. We have novice bookkeepers preparing payrolls and deductions being correct through the bank line in the pay run is a massive issue as it needs to be changed in the bank details and the pay template, this needs to be simplified by having the bank line option available when entering the deduction. I'm getting very frustrated trying to reconcile and have employees owe money back to the employer or the employee being owed a refund. It is far too clunky.
I worked with Attache many years ago and their options for this far exceed the more modern Xero system, you were able to enter the amount to deduct per pay, enter a bank account for it to go to if required and if it was to pay a set amount and then cease you could also enter this amount and the deduction would automatically cease once the amount had been repaid.
