NZ Payroll - Record sick leave as days
We need sick leave to be recorded in days to line up with current NZ payroll legislation. 10 days sick leave. The current settings in hours only work for people who work the same hours on the same days. Anyone with variable hours or different hours on different days this does not work and manual accrual needs to be kept outside of payroll. Then leave balances need to be manually adjusted which is a lot of work. This has been an issue for many many years and would be good to get fixed.
Hi all, thanks for your patience with this. We've now rolled out this feature to 100% of NZ Payroll organisations.
If you haven't yet, you'll be able to convert your employees leave to be calculated and displayed in Days. Take a look at our Support article on how to manage this change.
Thanks for your continued support and letting us know what matters most.

Hi Claire,
My leave reports and employee screen both show sick leave in hours. I have been with Xero for years.
If you are new to payroll you probably have the latest version which customers joining after 5 August 2024 have and shows sick leave in days. For some reason Xero isn't making this available to existing customers when new customers have had it for over a year.

Hi Kelly,
Dare I ask when this will be available for existing customers? It's almost been a year since this post! or is this just another empty promise

I've found this in response to a support ticket (where I was asking about roll-out) I'm shocked that people need to keep a manual spreadsheet. . While the support agent directly says this is where to go for info, it appears that it's nearly 5 months since the comment he refers to. Below is the response to the support request. Interesting Ethos for support.
The reason we don't make our Development Plan public is so that we can retain flexibility regarding features included in releases. We do mention some planned features on our blog, but as others are more susceptible to change, we'd rather under-promise and over-deliver than vice versa.
I have also included a link to Xero product ideas in which our community manager has responded clarifying why this roll out has not occurred for all customers yet.
