Hey team, as some may have seen we've been doing lots of work in the NZ Payroll space. For those just getting started with Xero (from 5 August 2024) sick leave will now be recorded in days, and can set up the Sick leave entitlement date.
We appreciate many in the idea here have been using Xero for a while and we want to confirm this is something we're working on for our existing customers as well, however there are more intricacies to work through from what already exists to the new. We'll round back to confirm with more detail and to let you know when this is being released for everyone. Thanks

Hi Kelly,
Dare I ask when this will be available for existing customers? It's almost been a year since this post! or is this just another empty promise

Thanks for your feedback of how Xero handles sick leave entitlements, Natalee.
I've made sure this is shared back with our product team, and while we can understand the reason for change you'd like to see here, we want to be open that this isn't something we have planned in the immediate future.
Right now, if an employee isn't included in the scheduled pay run when their leave anniversary date falls, you'll need to do a manual leave adjustment to grant the employee the missed entitlement.
If there's any news of change for this, we'll update you here.

Hi Kelly
To reinforce Natalee's comment: "Thank you Kelly. That is disappointing. I wonder how many employers are aware of this limitation." I was not aware of this! I find this very frustrating, just another workaround to something that should work as expected.
So what you're saying here then, is that you are not going to fix the problem nor are you going to make your customers aware of the problem during pay runs. So you are leaving customers open to not being compliant with employment standards while believing they are. That seems like very untrustworthy behaivour. -

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

Lisa Diamond- Welcome to Xero product ideas, where important product feature requests go to die. Or just ignored for decades. It's been over THIRTEEN years Xero seriously!!

Hi community, we appreciate your engagement as well as sharing attachments of your needs through the idea here. We understand the benefits this would add to your workflow and our product team are currently reviewing this capability. While we can't commit to change atm, I'll be back to let you know what comes of their review. Thanks

It's been over four month since your post Kelly, and we've had no update on this.
You can do it in quotes so surely it can't be that hard to make it available in invoicing as well.I don't understand why all the services don't have the same features, such as you can do something in quotes, you cant do in invoicing. Invoices auto save but bills and quotes don't. These are basically the same screen, so why are all the features different for each one. If the functionality is there for one, it should be there for all.
Is anything actually being done to make this possible?

Steve Brewer- I found this exact thing. When I raised a case regarding this, this is the answer I got. Every time I question something I just get told to change to the classic invoicing which is being retired. Xero support is a complete joke. It's just pure luck if you get someone who actually knows how to help you.
So I just imagined that I've been able to drag and drop for the last year and a half and now I can't?Hi Nicole
Thanks for reaching out to us and inviting us into your organisation.
Currently in Xero's new invoicing, it's not possible to use the drag and drop feature to move text from textbox to another, or reorder words within the same textbox.
Alternatively, you can switch to classic invoicing on the bottom of your screen, where this feature is still available. Classic invoicing will be retired on 27 February 2025.
However this is a request that's already been raised with us and I've found an idea that's similar to what you’re suggesting in our Xero Product Ideas. Xero Product Ideas is a Xero website where our customers can share and support ideas for change.
I’ve included links to our Xero Product Ideas and a support article with more information on new invoicing,
Xero Product Ideas: Invoicing - Use drag & drop to copy line details
Xero Central article: Xero new invoicing releases
Kind regards
Tavia

Please please do this. Not that I expect anything form Xero but it would help my workflow.

Hi Karen, this does sound like odd behaviour and would be good to get a closer look into. I see you've also come into our Xero Support team and they've suggested booking a time to connect and share screen so they can see the behaviour occurring for you. If you can respond to them through your My Cases they can investigate this with you 1-on-1. Thanks

Thanks for your detailed feature request to introduce task categories and sub-tasks in Xero Projects.
We’ve reviewed your submission and have now moved it to the Gaining Support stage.
This means the idea is live on the forum for other members of the Xero community to add their votes and comments. Our team keeps an eye on the ideas in this stage and uses the number of votes and the shared use cases to gauge demand for new features.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback and help us improve Xero.

Thanks for the detail and support shared for this idea, everyone. We understand how recurring expenses would enable efficiencies when you frequently have expenses of a similar nature (like subscriptions). Currently there is work needed within expenses to enable us to develop future capabilities. We're keen to continue tracking the interest in this through the idea here, and as soon as we're in a better position to be able to dive deeper this work we'll share any progress with you all here. So, while not in the plans at present, please keep sharing detail of your needs and supporting in the idea here.

Keep tasks in same order as they are in the project when generating a tasks and expenses invoice.
We put the job name as the first task then the steps of each job as different tasks underneath. Some of these steps are the same for each job so when the invoice generates with these in a different order, we cannot simply reorder these in the invoice because we can't tell which step is for which part of the job.Nicole Neale shared this idea ·

This can be done from a quote so why is it not possible for a project

This is my feeling exactly @Marc Allinson.
"It shows either that they don’t look at this forum, or that they have a total lack of regard to our experience once we are signed up."
Once we are signed up and they are getting our money for a product that doesn't live up to our expectations, they no longer care about us and focus on recruiting more unsuspecting customers. I tell everyone who asks, not to move to Xero and also have left reviews telling other people the same. It is definitely not what it once was.

Thanks everyone for your feedback on the invoice print option. We know how much our customers value efficient workflows, and appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how the current "Print PDF" button works.
For those of you looking for a smoother printing experience, a helpful workaround is to set your browser to automatically open PDFs in your preferred viewer after downloading. This can save you a few clicks in the process.
In the interest of transparency, a direct print PDF functionality that go through the download step isn't in our development plans.
You can continue to vote on this idea so if our position changes in the future we will update you all, here.

Why did this even change? You never used to have to download the invoice to print it. My computer is getting filled up with downloaded invoices and packing slips that I only wanted to print.

Hi everyone, we thank you for your support on the idea here. We understand the needs of being able to attach documents when sending Purchase Orders, however we want to be transparent that this is not planned work at this time.
To begin, purchase orders need an update and this will be a focus for the team before enhancements like this can be considered. We will keep you updated of any related changes, here.

This idea has been here for over a decade. Wow Xero, way to make your customers feel heard and respected.
Kelly M: you said 19 months ago that Purchase Orders needs an update before this can happen. When is this happening?
An error occurred while saving the comment Nicole Neale commented
@ Natalie Forsythe. I wouldn't count on there being an update. Some of these ideas have been here for decades. XERO DO NOT CARE about their current customers. Only about attracting more unsuspecting customers to an inferior product with discounted fees so they can increase them in the future after they are already hooked into the software.

Couldn't agree more Sunny Gill!
People (Your paying customer base) have been requesting this for YEARS!!!!
Unfortunately, Xero don't seem to care about their current customers, they just want to make it look pretty to attract more customers. The new customers will inevitably be unhappy with the product once they find out all the basic accounting features it should have, are non-existent and there are no plans to fix the inadequacies.

Surprise surprise. Yet another request from hundreds of users over many years not being implemented. Really regretting my change to Xero!

We send drawings of parts to be made with purchase orders. Automating this function will save time and ensure all relevant information regarding the purchase order is all sent together, meaning things won't get missed.

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

They don't actually care about any of their existing customers, only about sucking more unsuspecting people into their inferior product. Pushing ads for Xero all over social media when their platform isn't even working.

This is something that annoys me on a daily basis. Xero makes it far too easy to create a new contact by mistake. If a bill comes in and the name of the supplier is not exactly as you have saved it, it creates it's own new contact. I have over 750 archived contacts due to my accountant improperly importing contacts when it was set up and no way of getting rid of them. None of these have any transaction history. But just like every other idea here XERO DONOT CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS
An error occurred while saving the comment Nicole Neale commented
I have hundreds of contacts that have no transaction history because the accountant who imported from my old system imported every contact I wanted twice and all the contacts I didn't want as well. I have no way of fixing their mistake. You can 'merge' contacts, but this still leaves the merged contact in archived. It does not get rid of it. What a mess! Come on Xero, do something about this. It's ridiculous that the idea to fix this problem has been here for over a decade and you have done nothing!!

Hi Claire,
My leave reports and employee screen both show sick leave in hours. I have been with Xero for years.
If you are new to payroll you probably have the latest version which customers joining after 5 August 2024 have and shows sick leave in days.
For some reason Xero isn't making this available to existing customers when new customers have had it for over a year.
