AU Payroll - Suggestion for improvement: Include 'Description' field in Leave Request report
We use the description field to identify when staff use different types of leave that reduce the PL balance, but require tracking - Moving Days, Wellbeing Days, Special Leave etc. Being able to include these descriptions in the Leave Request report enables us to keep track more efficiently.
Thanks for sharing your idea. It’s been reviewed and is now open for community votes and comments!
Share it with colleagues who could benefit and help build support.

Thanks David. We currently do this, however to track the hours we are still needing to have a separate spreadsheet and enter into this.
Is there a way for the leave transactions report to show the leave form descriptions so we can see it that way rather than only be able to see it on the actual leave form.

We also use the description field to describe different personal leave types, we need to be able to report on these descriptions. Currently we need to click into individual employee leave tabs to manually review (can't even export these tabs), which is not practical.

As our employees are only allowed a certain number of personal leave days without providing evidence, it would be great to be able to add sub leave types under the personal leave type that still reduces the overall accrual for Personal Leave but tracks how many hours/days they have taken without evidence. This is currently all done manually in a spreadsheet.

I use the description field on leave requests to give a reason for the leave taken. If staff query my records, I can answer with more detail. For example, if they have run out of Sick Leave and have opted to use Annual Leave to top up their pay that week, I would record on the Annual Leave request with the description "Sick Leave balance zero". To have a field that is open for entry but not available on reports is highly frustrating and quite sub-standard for the likes of Xero. It is such a basic thing to fix. I transitioned from MYOB years ago. Even they had the field available on reports back then. For auditing purposes, this field needs to be available on reports now.
