UK Payroll - Schedule wage payments

Whilst the new Payroll Payment feature in Xero is welcome, being unable to schedule the payments for a future date sadly means we will need to continue manually inputting the salaries via our bank. We pay our staff on the last working day of the month. This feature only allows payment via faster payment, so I will always need to be available on the last working day of the month to post the payrun. I would normally process the salaries a few days before the last working day then set them up to be paid in a few days time. I would need to ensure I never took leave or was sick on the last day of the month if we used this feature! A major flaw I feel with this new feature.

    Agreed - I won't use this feature unless I can pay on a future date. Employees will be emailing me at 8am asking where their payment is if it has to wait on me!

    Online payments for wages via Crezco is a significant improvement for us as previously I was having to manually pay wages in our bank as it does not support bulk uploads. However, we need to be able to forward date the payment date as wages are always forwarded, so its not a useable feature yet.

    Same position as everyone below. This feature would be great if the payment date could be set in the future.

    It is very convenient to be able to pay employees directly from Xero - it would however be better to be able to future date the transaction / payment.
    Currently is executes on the same day when the option is selected with no choice of date

    Absolutely agree. This feature is totally useless but could be an absolute game-changer.

    I don't know of any payroll clerks / business owners that want to sit up all night to make sure staff are paid by the time they wake up on pay-day. Allowing payments to be scheduled would result in a more accurate and efficient process with an easier audit trail which I think is what most of us strive for. It is available for purchase ledger payments and it works really well.

    I was so excited to finally see this feature (which I think is long overdue) but I was sadly very disappointed.

    Online payments for wages via Crezco is great feature but unfortunately you cannot change the payment date which makes it unusable as wages are always scheduled to be paid in advance.

    Almost identical to ourselves. We pay the last Friday of the month but if we are unable to add that date then we are back to manually adding each payment on our banking app / browser version.
    Shame as I was rather excited to see the update.
    We have a pause between payslip generation and payment in case staff find an error. I cannot imagine running payroll and paying it on the same day - madness.
    As others have said it seems a pretty pointless change if you cannot set up a future payment.

    Absolutely agree! I was very excited to see this feature, then very disappointed to find I couldn't use it, as I'm not always available on the payroll payment date (scheduled for last working day of the month).

    Agree really disappointing that the payments can't be scheduled for a future date like they can with supplier payments. Makes the new feature of no use.
    For anyone running multiple or large payrolls or where payment to the employees has to arrive at the start of the banking day this feature doesn't help at all.
    Really hope that it can be upgraded so that future dates are possible like for suppliers.
    I can't understand why it has been launched as same day payment only.

    For the salary payment function from Xero - please could we have the functionality to select a date into the future for the salary payments to be made.
