AU Payroll - Notification when a pay run with a final pay is reverted
When a final pay is created the Annual Leave is automatically paid out. However, if that pay run is posted and then reverted to draft, the Annual Leave for that final pay gets zeroed without warning.
Not expecting or being aware of this behaviour from the software, an alert message should be given when reverting a pay run with a final pay included in it, so that the Annual Leave hours can be re-added to that employees pay, or the hours should not be zeroed at all.1 voteThanks for sharing your idea. UK Payroll - Ignore tax calculation if "This is their first job since the start of the tax year" selected
For a new starter, if "This is their first job since the start of the tax year" has been selected (A), then any tax and pay figures in the YTD fields should be ignored as they could have been entered for a P45 given for a previous tax year.
1 voteGood to hear your feedback to our last update. Monica and we can re-open your idea to get a sense of interest from the wider community, however want to be open that this isn't something we have direct plans of atm.
Just to re-iterate for others coming across this post - For new employee's, if this is their first job since the start of the tax year, you should not enter a P45 or any opening balances in their employee record. Leaving these sections blank ensures the system calculates their tax correctly based on their current circumstances.

AU Payroll - Right align Amount in new super page
Can we right align the column of numbers for super amounts in the new superannuation page, so that the decimal points of the dollar amounts are in a line?
(As it is, the white space between lines and between columns means I have to use a ruler to see how much was paid on what day without my eyes skipping to another line, unless I zoom out to 80% and make the window take up a third of my monitor, but that bad UI design choice is consistent across all the new stuff, whereas the left alignment of a column…

UK Payroll > Provide a warning before you delete a timesheet line
When editing or approving timesheets there is an option on the right hand side of the timesheet line to delete. This is presented as a trash icon. when you press this for a particular week, it then subsequently deletes this line if all other weeks within the payroll period with no warning. Could you implement a simple warning message for a user to click ok advising them that this action will result on deleting that particular line for all weeks of the pay period. Screenshot attached.

UK payroll: naming convention for workplace salary sacrifice pension item.
Salary sacrifice pension when set up as the default pension scheme, enrols employees with a pension deduction item "Pension provider (NPA)"
Salary sacrifice and Net pay arrangements are entirely different and should not be confused.
Xero support have repeatedly told me it is an NPA so nothing needs to change but this is incorrect.
Would it really be too difficult to have it say (SS)?
It has caused huge upset and confusion among a few of my clients who have made a full move to salary sacrifice and there is no explanation from Xero, it is just wrong.

Xero Me | Sync timesheets from Practice Manager (XPM)
This was originally raised in 2022. The request hasn't been acted on yet. The 2022 request is being closed due to lack of support.
However, the lack of support is likely to be an indication that current Xero Partners aren't using XPM for recording time, and/or aren't using Xero Payroll. XPM improvements over the past 18 months show that they are investing in that product. Xero Payroll has also been significantly improved in the last 18 month. Would be good if an Employer could add/send a personal welcome/info note when sending a Xero Onboarding invite request via email to a Contractor or PAYG Employee

NZ Payroll - Allow employee date of birth to be optional
Please remove the requirement to have a date of birth for an employee.
We have been asking for this to be removed for years, Xero recently told us it was an IRD requirement. We contacted our account manager at Inland Revenue and they said it is not an IRD requirement and that they have been in contact with Xero Payroll to make the field non-compulsory.
The workaround that Xero gives of adding a made up date does not work and causes issues where IRD send letters that the date of birth does not match that client.

AU Payroll - Reports downloaded from posted pay runs to include pay period rather than payment date
Every time I process a payroll (hundreds every year), I produce the Payroll reports to send to the client.
The Payroll Activity Details Report AND THE Payroll Employee Summary shows the INCORRECT details in the heading. For example The report reads: "For the period 17 November 2025 to 17 November 2025". THIS IS NOT CORRECT, and it wastes HOURS having to change it every single time.
The Report is for the Processed Pay Period just completed!!!

AU Payroll - Preset Start and end date for Child support deductions
It would be useful for child support deductions to be able when we get the letter saying "this much from this date to that date and this much from that date going forward" to be able to put both those things in at the same time rather than relying on all-too-fallible humans to remember to go in and change the amounts on a particular date.

UK Payroll - PAYE only Tronc Pay Item
Tronc pay item to be set up as PAYE applied only. Currently there are 2 options but one has PAYE and pension applied, the other has PAYE, NI and pension applied.

AU Payroll - Payslips message - remove character limit
The character limit for the "Individual message for [employeefirstname]" input box on the payrun appears to be 300 characters. Please remove that limit so that I can list the titles of the jobs that the employee is being paid for at the rates shown in the Earning Rates section.

UK Payroll - Easily view which employees don't have a Timesheet in a pay period
Timesheets - In the old timesheet menu we were able to select which payroll the timesheets related to so I could ensure all timesheets have been completed and see who had not even created a timesheet yet. I have been unable to do this in the new experience. Is this something that will be brought in the filter option please.

UK Payroll - Ability to edit the Leave approval notification email to employeese is approved.
I am looking to change the automatic text that is contained in the emails that my employees receive when their Payroll Admin approves their leave. Is there a way to access the template for these emails like there is for invoicing and purchase orders?

UK Payroll - Add tracking to NI, PAYE & pension
I would like to be able to allocate a team tracking category to each employee on our payroll, this way when the payroll journal pulls through, each employees salary, Er NI, pension costs and any benefits will automatically be allocated to their team.
I do quarterly reporting for our client and as it currently is, each quarter I will have to manual journal all the above accounts from an unassigned 'team', back into the same account but allocated to their correct team. I will have to work out the amounts to credit out looking at the detailed report and manually…

UK Payroll > Gross pay opening balance for non-taxable elements
the current opening balance figure are only taxable pay , i need gross pay. My client has salary sacrifice and the taxable pay is less than gross so on the payslip the YTD gross is wrong. its shows the YTD figure less the deduction.

From an HMRC compliance standpoint, Xero does calculate the correct tax because it captures the accurate "Taxable Pay" opening balance. However, we completely understand how the lack of a "Total Gross" field can cause confusing presentation issues on payslips after a mid-year migration.

AU Payroll - Pay Contractors in payroll, include GST and calculate/track superannuation
Invoices submitted by contractors - Xero should have a tick box where we can tick 'I need to pay super on this invoice' and it tracks and records contractor super owing.

AU Payroll - Allowance to contribute to leave rate in final pay
Have the option to select what all-purpose allowances are included in the final termination pay rate. This will ensure the correct leave loading is calculated on the full pay rate on the final termination payout.

Payroll - Suggestion for a visual staff leave planner to manage overlaps and cover
A Planner with a visual representation of staff approved leave (with an option to note who is covering that leave) would be super helpful. We're trying to do this with with spreadsheets and it's diabolical - but the info is all there in Xero - seeing it in a planner would be AMAZING!

AU Payroll - Naming Convention Payroll ABA
As I am an external accountant to several client, each with several pay-calendars across numerous entities, I would much appreciate if the ABA files (much like pdf reports) could be given a naming convention that ties the ABA clearly to entity, and pay-calendar when I screen through my downloads.
