Demo Company - Clear ALL, don't reset, optional data reload and cloning
This idea has been raised again and again but XERO isn't listening!!!
The demo company is a great idea, but it makes no sense to automatically reload all the "duff" data every 30 days.
It's VERY simple to achieve a very useful and flexible feature, by....
1) Be able to clear all the data in the Demo Company
2) Make the 30 day reload of useless data optional
3) Enable cloning of an existing organisation
We need to be able to test imports, features etc. and be able to return the "demo company" to EMPTY and if required to restore the standard demo company data set or Cloning an existing organisation.
PLEASE ACT ON WHAT CUSTOMERS WANT

It looks like this thread is about managing demo data and keeping things clean without doing a full reset. That kind of clarity really matters when you’re handling live updates, especially during high-traffic events. For example, when the Jharkhand Academic Council announced the Class 10 results this year, many students rushed to check their scores at once. If result data isn’t handled properly, pages can slow down or break. I recently shared a simple walkthrough on checking the JAC 10th result, including alternative methods like SMS and DigiLocker in case the main site lags https://jacresult.co.in/jac-10th-result/. Might be useful for anyone managing education-related portals or result dashboards.

Hy,
When working in a demo company, it’s always safer to clear records carefully instead of resetting everything blindly especially if you need to preserve structure while testing cloning or optional data reload features. A similar situation happens during result updates on government portals, where data stays intact but status gets refreshed. For example, students checking their ITI scores follow a structured process rather than wiping previous records. I recently explained the step-by-step method for checking results here https://iti-result.in/ it might help illustrate how controlled data handling works in practice. -

The caps and the exclamation marks are all very well justified. haha. I am infuriated at the lack of this feature as well, because its so hard to a do a 1 for 1 testing for my client when the demo company is totally IRRELEVANT.
Not to mention I can't even do a demonstration to my client to prove to him that the integration is already tight.
I can only transition to production and cross my fingers.

I would like to be able to retain the demo company data once I have input it to use it as a case study, it is frustrating that it resets every 28 days.

Fully agree this would be much more useful for staff training and development
