Permissions - Auditor roles that allows read only access to everything
We're auditors and some of our clients are having issues around providing consistent access to everything as they don't want us to have read-write access, and we don't want that either. What we'd like is a user class for auditors/regulators which is read only and allows access to everything.

Our product teams are giving this need close consideration as they continue developing permissions across Xero.

Hi team, requesting either a new role (auditor) or the ability to extend the current Viewer role to allow Payroll and Settings to be viewed (but not changed).
We're required by our regulators to have annual audits, and we used to be able to grant the auditors view-only access to payroll as part of the Viewer user role. Now when I try to give them access, the option seems to be either no access or full access (including approvals).

Auditor access was a suggestion I listed over 10 years ago. I don't understand why user access options are still so limited. It seems a basic request to be able to have full access to the file that's read only. Would be good for auditors, regulators, board directors, etc as changes can't accidentally be made while still having good oversight

The upcoming Pay-Day Super is exacerbating the Franchisors’ legal liability on Franchisee’s payroll compliance (Part 4-1A of the Fair Work Act 2009 for certain contraventions of workplace laws (including the NES) committed by franchisees, where specific criteria are met).
I have no issues with a Franchisor monitoring compliance. It could even be easy and painless by providing the Franchisor a “Read only” access to “Payroll”.
Unfortunately, and as confirmed today in payroll discussion “Set up "read only" payroll access for Franchisor” this is not an option: limited for staff or full access only.
We possibly be audited as well, another reason to support urgent changes and implementation of read only access to various items. -

I agree it would make it easier for our clients as we have to get advisor access at present to be able to carry out our work. We need to be able to access payroll for a start, and to be able to follow transactions through from the GL to the bank statement, i.e. follow the audit trail from reports through the system to the bank or the journal etc. I would also love a payroll report that matched the gross wages filed at IRD to be readily available as I have to customise a report and it is a real pain when needing to reconcile Xero payroll gross wages to the IRD filings.
