Navigation - Ability to hide recent organisations
When working in Xero during client meetings or on shared screens, the main menu prominently displays a list of recently accessed organisations. This exposes other client names, which is a confidentiality issue. The previous interface allowed this list to be collapsed, preventing accidental disclosure of sensitive client information.
Bring back the ability to minimise or hide the “Recent organisations” section—either as:A collapse/expand toggle (as previously available),
A user profile setting to disable the list entirely, or
A privacy mode that hides client names on demand.

Navigation - Ability to customise menus
New Xero ribbon - can it be amended?
Too much! There are things I don't use or need day to day. "Dashboard" became "home". Ok not great, but okay.
The the "+" icon on the ribbon gives me the shortcut to anything.
Xero has just gone and cluttered it up with stuff I don't need day to day. Like "Payroll" and "Reporting". Anyone else agree/disagree? I want to assure you we did a lot of user research and testing of the new navigation to ensure it would suit the needs of majority of businesses.

Organisation settings - Setting to remove data 7+ years old
In NZ we are required by law to keep 7 years of records for the IRD (tax department). I make a point of destroying old financial records that are older than 7 years. Xero doesn't have a mechanism to purge old data. I see in my Xero I full record including invoices, supplier invoices and financial data back to Jan 2014.
I would like to see a system whereby old data was completely wiped, and summary starting figures created for the purged data period, say as at the start of each tax year, for me 1 April 2018 so that…
9 votesAppreciate why you'd like to remove older data from your org after a long period, Steven. Generally we don't want to be touching our customers data, and this isn't something we have plans for implementing. However, we'll get a sense of the interest from others in this here, for our product teams to consider.
Right now, if you'd like to remove older data there are a couple of options;
- You could start a new organisation from the date you'd like to keep records from, setting up the organisation with conversion balances from that date. You could also export and import information from the old org to the new one.
- Change the conversion balances in your existing org and remove older data prior to this date

Navigation | Global Search (magnifying glass) - Coloured invoice status in results
In search since I've used Xero, when searching for an Invoice Number - results would appear and a coloured box with the status - red for Awaiting Payment, and green for Paid. A handy visual meaning I didn't have to actually read the status.
Now in the new Search - these colours have disappeared. Why? I now have to scan up and down and actually read what it says without my visual guide. Xero search - Ability to copy an invoice no. without deleting spaces.
In the general search field at the top right, it would be very helpful if the search also work with a space or a few spaces at the beginning. Because if I copy an invoice number in the field I always have to delete the spaces first before the search works - it's annoying.

Navigation - Rename Sales and Purchases to Payments and Receipts
The new tabs are nominated as Purchases and Sales but some of their sub tabs go beyond that. I would prefer to label them Payments and Receipts

Xero Accounting app - Ability to view Balance Sheet
Hi Xero Team,
I’m really disappointed to discover that the Xero Mobile App doesn’t provide any way to view the Balance Sheet - a core financial statement that forms half of any set of accounts and is the backbone of understanding a business’s position.
As a property developer, tracking CAPEX spends per project is critical, and not having quick access to this information on the go is a significant limitation. Even a simple dashboard or quick-glance view in the app would make a huge difference for users like me who rely on Xero to manage their businesses efficiently.

Online/Offline synching, to enter data when no internet connection.
Offline/Online Syncing Xero Accounting Desktop Program which allows for Backup?
When you dont have internet connection and you need to keep the staff working, obviously the file is not distributed to the cloud, but when the computer gets internet access it Syncs all of its data with the cloud. Xero, when internet connection is lost, you could still use all the same functionality, then once it gets online then it Syncs all the information with the cloud.

If we were to work on a change like this, we'd have to consider the implications this could have if multiple people worked on the same items while they were offline, and how this data would sync when they reconnected to the internet.

Demo Company - Prioritise Demo Company for new feature rollouts
Could the Demo Company please be updated first when new features are being rolled out. Often want to test how a new feature works (eg the current Investment Boost in Fixed Assets) or take the Staff through training on the new features, without having to do this in a Client's live data.
If the Demo Company can have the features first, then can do testing and training of staff before see in the Client's live data.

Homepage - Icons for shortcuts to features
Create a "widget" with a customizable icon shortcuts to have it where you can click on one button and get you to where you need to go instead of navigation through menus. Have a way to only show which icons appear. For me, it would be "invoices, expenses, refunds, chart of accounts, and inventory". See the attached mock up of what I'm talking about. It would be so nice to have shortcuts right there on the homepage.

Totally get it's not exactly what you're suggesting here but just as a highlight around shortcuts there are a few that can be used anywhere in Xero to help you quickly navigate to some features such as '/a' to get to the all bank accounts screen, or '/e' to go to all employees 😊

Organisation settings - Change base currency
It is remarkably convoluted to change the base currency even when no transactions have been posted. It only seems to be possible by cancelling the subscription and starting again. I rely on clients purchasing the software and it is not unknown for them to enter an incorrect base currency. I have used other systems where changing the base currency is very quick and easy. I suggest you make this a little easier.

Dashboard - Edit dashboard layout
Dashboard- It would be great if Xero gave us more options to edit out Dashboards. Two colums are not enough, at the most I get to see four accounts before I have to scroll, they needn't be so large either. If they had three colums, and we could shrink the size of the 'boxes' then we could easily see a better snapshot of work to do and where the business is at.

We've done lots of research and testing with our customers for the new homepage. You'll be able to customise to show which widgets you want, and it's built with updated technology so is much more responsive - adapting based on your device, screen size and zoom functions to show a maximum of 4 widgets side-by-side!

Compact Dashboard
Seeing more information on the dashboard without scrolling. I do not need to see account graphs. I need to see the actual data on one screen.

Navigation - Add shortcut to Tracking in the Accounting dropdown
When will the ability to add a shortcut to the settings like "tracking category" and "Fixed Assets" to the "accounting" dropdown menu be re-activated like you could do with the old task bar, or is this another case of "we don't care about our customers bookkeeper's productivity being lost" as all the other dropdown menus appear to have all the shortcuts?

You should see Fixed Assets within the Accounting menu already. However, you are correct that accessing Tracking Categories requires an additional click and are shown under the Accounting Settings option.

Onboarding - Add Xero to the list of "What tool are you currently using to run your business"
When creating a new organisation, there isn't an option to choose Xero from the dropdown list of "What tool are you currently using to run your business". I'm migrating from one org to another because of limitations in your PAYE scheme functionality. Right now, a user can't select Xero from the list, which may help you shed light on users who are either running into org challenges or who are power users of your tools.

Sticky top menu and organisation name to prevent wrong-entry
I would like to request a usability improvement for the new Xero interface.
Currently, the top navigation bar (Home, Sales, Purchases, Accounting, etc.) and the organisation name disappear when scrolling. Because these elements are not fixed, users often lose visibility of which organisation they are working in while entering data or reviewing long pages.
This has already caused several situations where data was accidentally entered into the wrong organisation. It’s not a user error — it occurs because the organisation name is not always visible, which makes it difficult to stay oriented during detailed data entry.

Navigation - Reports
I love the way the various areas have been split now (Home Sales Purchases Payroll etc)
I would prefer that reports relating to each of those sections, be stored in their menus. IN the Reporting menu, I have 10 varying reports which make it a long menu path. If they were in their individual menus (e.g. Aged Receivables Summary in Sales menu; Aged Payables Summary in Purchase, all Payroll related reports in Payroll) it would be easier to find and more logical. You could have more reports visible as well in each Menu.

Navigation - Move up practice tools section on main menu

Personally, I access practice tools and hubdoc / syft several times daily, I'd prefer not thave to scroll down to get to these. Settings and Subscription / Billing are access much less frequently and coud me lower in the menu.

Navigation - Back to the top button at bottom of page
Please could you add a 'Back to the top' button, especially on the reconcile and report pages, but every page would be useful.

While we don't have any plans for adding this within Xero atm, as mentioned in my last update if you're working on a desktop you can use the 'Home' button on a Windows, or on a Mac you can press the 'Command' key + Left arrow.
This should help when navigating a long lists or pages like reports.
We will continue to track the appetite through this idea.
