  1. Ability to restrict the 2nd category tracker to a 1st category item.

    Eg - Category 1 is the property, Category 2 is the tenant.

    When we have multiple properties in an entity it would be great to be able to restrict tenant category to only relate to the 1 property that the tenants are for. This would help to stop a mis-match of property/tenant.

  2. When editing an assigned expense in the project module, there are four options for 'What you'll charge': % markup, pass cost on, custom price and non-chargeable.

    I think there should be a fifth option.

    In the instance where the expense is to be tracked to an estimated expense (ie field 2 is completed), there should be the possibility of linking to the 'What you'll charge' amount that is already prepopulated into the associated estimated expense.

    This would save a lot of time repeating steps.

  3. When I post an expense through to a project, for some reason it limits it to 100 characters, which pretty much makes it un-useable for me.
    This is annoying, as I was just thinking how handy the projects app is, but now all the "projects" I've set up are basically a waste of time as I need the extra detail on my invoices.
    Please can you change this?

  4. In Projects, when we add tasks to the project (pulled from Products and Services) and then Create Quote, the Product or Service name is what imports into the description line in the Quote and not the description from that Product or Service, as it does when creating a quote outside of Projects. Having this consistency makes sense (and is strange that it is not already the default) but it makes creating a quote from projects cumbersome, as the description needs to be added manually.

  5. i just want to use one app for everything, a calendar view to see what i have booked in would be very useful. at the moment i don't get the best use out of xero i'm running my business of multiple apps putting a calendar in xero would mean i can run the business directly from the xero platform

    we have quoting, invoicing we have the ability to take payments through the app on-site but i barely do any of that within xero because its lacking a calendar.

    there is no point in having "projects" without a calendar to quickly…

  6. It would be useful for the AI tool or even just a standard report to check if Department matched Budget. E.g. we have a Central department and all Central budgets start with Central. E.g Central: Stationery, Central: Web services. Or alternatively Xero to automatically allocate all Stationery purchases to Central Dept.

  8. We use the project and task options for all our projects.
    Each of our tasks within individual project folders have fixed prices. These fixed prices are often of a substantial amount, with projects scheduled to run up to and at times over a year.
    We invoice each task/project for time spent each month till the project is completed.
    I would like to have the option to invoice against time spent at the end of each month on each fixed price tasks within each project.
    This is currently proving to be a nightmare with options for invoicing time spent only being…

    Being open we don't have any planned changes for your idea here, however it'd be good to get a sense of interest from others in community that'd like to price projects in this manner.

    We'll keep an eye on this here, and share if there are any updates.

  9. On projects under "quotes & invoices" it would be great if it showed the remaining balance of the invoice. I send 4-5 invoices per project and sometimes clients pay a random lump sum and i write it off against the invoices but that can lead to an invoice being part paid and being able to see which invoices have been paid or have a remaining balance under that view would be beneficial instead of having to get out of projects and searching the invoice under the invoice tab.

  11. Ability to change the default work week for entering and viewing time entries in Projects.

    Purpose: Allows us to easily view employees time in the work week that we use for an outside Payroll.

  12. When you have a large number of Tracking category options and you wish to add another, you have to scroll heavily to get to the bottom of the list each time you wish to add another.
    This is not time efficient. The option to add another tracking category option should be at the top of the page for simplicity and time management of the XERO user

  13. When converting xero projects / Invoice

    6 employees work for the last month gets dumped on to the invoice in alphabetical order and from the latest date they worked

    The client needs to see this in cronological order and with each task for the said date

    eg

    1 July

    Dave
    Fred
    jim

    2 july
    Dave
    Fred
    Jim

    At the moment this task of ordering said invoices can take about half an hour of ferrying each transaction up and down the page. Before Editing

    So needs a filter button installed to do this please

  16. Open your API to Dext so projects can be assigned to bills within Dext. The current situation whereby you can upload the bill from Dext but then need to go into Xero, locate the bill and assign it to a project, is simply unacceptable. I am using other accounts software for clients and I can assign projects within Dext without having the unecessary step of having to do so within the software.

  17. Purchase orders - assign to projects. It would be great if purchase orders or each line item from a purchase order can be assigned to a project. This can then translate to the assigned bill when the relevant supplier submits their invoice for payment. It make sense that the PO amounts are captured in project reporting. At the moment, adding a estimated expense is a secondary process that leaves room for clerical errors.

  18. We often have project and during this we generate sub projects.
    For record keeping it would be handy to able create a sub project under the main one. So when its time to invoice the whole project you can combine all related ones in one invoice.

    Thanks for your feedback on Projects here, Tia. If you have any other detail you can share or examples of how sub projects would be used by your business this would be useful for our product teams consideration.

    We don't have any plans for this at present, but make sure you share the idea with other colleagues that could also find this useful so we can get a wider understanding of the interest.

  19. It would be great to add an "Item" to a project, that would, as a whole include, tasks and expenses.

    For example, Kitchen/cabinet maker, Project is a whole house, I want to add items to the project of say, Kitchen, Laundry, Wardrobe etc.

    and then either it just has a dollar value to it (no tracked time or expenses), or have the ability to add specific expenses and tasks to the item.

    Then when you go to quote, all items are split apart with their expenses and tasks separate from the other items.

  20. Add an option to export accounting data with tracking categories split into separate lines instead of combined in one field.

    This would make exports much easier to use in other software, reduce manual data cleanup, and support clients who need to import Xero data into reporting tools or different accounting systems.
