  2. Currently the apportionment percentage for the rental is calculated for all income and expenses. However, in reality this is not always the situation. Sage has the ability to change the apportionment of each expense individually as well which is very useful, time-saving and error reducing.

  4. Workpapers to run for periods (not just years) and for periods ending not on a month end.

    The majority of my clients have a year end with 5 April. At the moment i would only be able to run the work papers to 31 March. I also have other clients with year end dates throughout the year.

    In addition to this, I can only run the workpapers for a full year. What happens if a business ceases. Often we need to run a set of accounts, and therefore workpapers, for a shorter/longer period.

    Hi everyone, we'd like to share an update on this idea with you all - As announced at Xerocon there are exciting changes coming for practices with Xero Partner Hub!

    With the Xero Partner Hub you'll have a unified client and staff experience. We'll be providing some additional Client detail fields including Date of Death for Individual / Sole Trader business structures.

    This'll be rolling out to all Xero partners in early 2026, with the beta being available from November, starting in Australia and New Zealand - Find out more on our website

Given Xero has an IR3 Rental Schedule form and Home Office Work Papers why does the business schedule workpaper only have line by line capability and not a business schedule equivalent to IR's IR3B business schedule? Why is this helpful, it means we have the ability to put in front of the client not only the income and expenses relating to their small enterprise (i.e. usually don't warrant an accounting product) and provides traceability for fixed assets and depreciation claimed.

  9. IRD has $ for 3 provisional tax payment dates, however the Tax Payments listing only shows the next provisional tax payment due and misses the 2nd and 3rd ones until the date of each provisional tax payment has passed. It would be more accurate to have all tax payments showing on their due date regardless of the date of viewing.

We have many individual clients who don't have a company or trust etc. Can there be a salutations field that can be used specifically for addressing them in invoices and tax letters that doesn't affect where they stand in the alphabetical order of things? If we update their display name, all of those clients would be under 'M' for Miss, Mrs, Ms or Mr rather that their first or last name which then throws reporting if you're looking for someone in particular in a list of people. Would be nice to have this carry over to Blue Xero so that…

    In Xero HQ as a partner we have the ability to create report packages however it is only for use within our practice, it would be really helpful if we had the option to share these with our clients.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your votes and comments on this idea. We’ve looked into this request, and at this stage, we won’t be moving forward with it.

    Report templates are a beneficial feature designed for our Xero Partners managing multiple clients.

    We do understand how important it is to have a consistent and repeatable reporting process. A good alternative is to use the Management Report within the client’s organisation. It allows you to build a customised report pack that can be saved and reused. You’ll find it under the Reports section, and there’s a Xero Central article that steps through how to set one up.

    Thanks again for your feedback—it helps shape how we continue to improve reporting in Xero.

  15. When completing a tax return in XPM, have the audit check feature check the IRD number for hyphens so it's in the correct format. If the number is entered with spaces instead of a hyphens, the audit check lets it pass, and throws an error when submitting.

    Hi Franjo, currently an IRD Number validity check is done in Xero Practice Manager tax. Being open we don't have any plans of changing the check that is in place, however we do find most issues are caused when a IRD number is copy and pasted in to Xero and includes lead or trailing spaces which can throw an error.

    We'd recommend typing this in to avoid issues.

  16. One should be able to create tax returns for Companies that switched their Financials years to calendar year, to avoid late lodgements. For Example, for the companies whose financial year is 1 Jan,2022 to 31 Dec,2022, need to wait till Jun 2023 to file their tax returns

  17. Currently only able to raise progress job invoice in client. abilitiy to raise both progress and final invoice would be better than having to go to invoicing to raise final invoice.

  18. It would be very helpful that when a new Tax Return for a new Client is created that the Clients mobile numbers and emails are put in by default and we have the option to set a default for the Clients bank details & postal address to always be selected.
    I know that the information carries on from the previous year regarding the address and bank details but if the information is supplied on the new client profile before the Tax Return is created it should automatically select the Clients Information.

  19. A section in Tax on XPM it notifies you that an ITR doesn't have bank account details entered before filing.
    This will help solve the issue of filing tax returns with missing client bank accounts for refunds.

  20. The R & D Schedule does not automatically pull through the following items in the tax return:

    R & D recoupment amount (Part B -7) - This amount is required to be manually entered on the income tax calculation statement at label M, R & D recoupment tax.

    Total clawback - additional assessable income (Part B - 9) - This amount is required to be manually entered in the reconciliation spreadsheet, Other assessable income, label B
