  1. It would be useful to have settings to setup multiple emails on a clients record for different purposes. This would improve accuracy in communications and sending of documentation when managing clients.

We're interested to understand the interest in being able to add multiple emails to a clients record, for the purposes of setting these up for different purposes.

It would be great to hear more detailed feedback from our partners on the particular purposes you'd want to set up emails for and how this would help you through Xero's practice tools. Thanks!

  2. Recent change in XPM has moved the old/archived jobs and invoices to a different tab. I prefer the old layout where you can see the current and old jobs all in one place/screen.

The archived or old jobs have been moved to a different tab which means you cannot see both open and closed jobs at the same time. We rely on this when preparing annual accounts and tax returns because we often review all invoices or jobs for a full financial year, we hardly ever are only looking at the open jobs or invoices. The issue is we can…

Hi everyone, upon further deep diving into the discussion raised here we are going to re-open this idea. We appreciate how being able to see both active and archived Jobs within a Client is useful to some practices workflows. We will be sure to share if there are any plans made around this with you here. Thanks

  3. We need the ability to prepare a future tax return for a SMSF as this is required to wind up a fund prior to year end. A trustee company can't be deregistered with the ASIC until a final tax return is lodged with the tax office so the time delay in preparing a future return impacts the client on annual company statements and costs associated with that as well.

The ability to prepare a future year return in Xero tax exists for other entity types but not SMSF's for some reason.

Hi everyone thanks for sharing this idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. Currently they are available at the start of the following income tax year. We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. You can share this with your friends and colleagues who also want to see this feature. We will continue monitoring this space for traction.

  4. Problem: Standard users can only archive clients from "All Clients" and "Groups", but can no longer archive from the actual Client record, even though Admin users can.

Impact: This is inconsistent and adds extra steps. Standard users need to leave the client, go back to a list or group, then archive. This wastes time and the feature already exists for Admins and used to exist prior to all these changes recently implemented.

Request: Add "Archive" back to the 3-dot menu on the Client record for Standard users, so archiving is available wherever client actions are shown.

Hi everyone, we appreciate how quickly this idea has picked up traction from the community here.

As you've likely heard through other communications we're in the midst of rolling out a unified Client experience as part of our wider Xero Partner Hub.

    With the new Client experience you can now;

    • Create a client without a TFN, as the Create Client flow has been updated to capture only the basic details
    • The TFN can be added later by clicking Edit once the client is created.
    • If you do try add a TFN that already exists on an archived client, an error message is displayed - you can get a view of what this looks like in my attachment

Thanks again for sharing with us here and I'll be back to confirm when this new experience is live to all practices.

  6. Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, the Tax Returns and Notes tabs no longer indicate whether a client has any open tax returns or existing notes.

This indicator was previously used to quickly identify active items on a client without needing to open each tab, we are particularly missing the notes indicator.

As similar indicators are still shown for Jobs and Invoices, it would be helpful for consistency and usability if this functionality could be restored for the Tax Returns and Notes tabs as well.

  7. Currently, when mapping the chart of accounts from your financial statements in Xero Blue to the tax return labels in XPM, you can only map to labels in the business schedule section of the return.

This means that accounts relating to other tax labels, such as rental property schedules, or other deductions, must be noted as "do not import", and then entered manually.

It would be great if there was the ability to map these accounts, in addition to those relating to the business schedule, as it would lead to further efficiency gains for accountants using Xero's suite of products.

Hi community, thanks for engaging with this idea! It’s already gaining strong traction, and we can see how important this is to many of you.

We understand the value of being able to map general ledger accounts directly to all tax return schedules in Xero Tax, not just the business schedule. This improvement would go a long way in streamlining tax workflows, increasing efficiency, and reducing the risk of manual entry errors.

The idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your continued votes and comments help highlight its importance and guide our product team's priorities.

  8. The NZ tax rate for a trust's income tax has changed in the 2025 tax year from 33% to 39% when the taxable income in the trust is $10,000 or more.
At present we are not able to have a different formula in comparatives to the formula in current year, so a modification to the If( . . ) statement in the current annual accounts tax note cannot be made that would work for 2025 and comparatives.

At the moment the only solution available per Xero Support is a custom line, with accounting staff manually entering the tax payable amount…

Thanks for raising the idea with us here, community.

Currently, there's no functionality in Xero to have a single row have two different formulas for each column, or have two columns appear when grouped. (Example, the 2024 column cannot be calculated with 33% tax if the formula for the row is calculated with 39%)

Right now as Paul's noted 🙏, we'd recommend using a 'Custom' row in the Notes report and have the row heading be similar to 'Tax Payable (33% 2024, 39% 2025)'.

In doing so, you'll then be able to manually input the figures into this section of the notes report after you click 'Update layout'.

We don't have any immediate plans for developing this capability, but I want to assure you interest for this has been shared with our product team and we'll update you if there's any news.

  9. Please add the address column back when you are viewing a client group. With new change to XPM we now have to go into each entity and make a note of what address they are at.

  10. The process for entering addresses for clients needs to be easier and more streamlined. It should default to Australia (the overwhelming majority of clients have Australian addresses). You should also be able to copy street address to postal address, rather than having to reenter the data.

Hi Megan, thanks for your feedback on the new Partner Hub experience when entering client addresses. Your input is valuable to and appreciated. We have moved this idea to Gaining Support and the Product team will be looking over all the feedback from our customers/partners so they can get a better idea of the experience and functionality of the new platform. Thanks again for sharing this with us.

  11. Would be good to have an "Allocate" command button so income, deductions, tax credits are split automatically as per the percentage for each individual in a trust, partnership and LTC company. It is time consuming when there are multiple individuals and varying percentage splits.

  12. We are not able to search for clients (whilst in the Clients tab) using TFN or ABN.

We are also not able to search using client's TFN or ABN when using Global Search.

TFN and ABN are unique search identifiers and will return the correct client every time.

Hi everyone, thank you for your support on the idea here.

Right now, our product team are looking into the ability to search via TFN from the Client list.

They're in exploration atm, so I'll keep you updated on further progress here.

  13. XPM has been updated recently (April 2025) and the update has removed the re-ordering of tasks function. We used the re-ordering function to put all tasks in chronological order e.g. monthly payroll tasks, VAT returns, year end accounts were all arranged in date order. Since the update all the re-ordering that we have completed on jobs have been changed and now all tasks are non-chronological and in a jumbled order. This is very frustrating. Please could Xero re-instate the ability to re-order tasks as required? These changes are a backwards step.

  14. Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, the balance date for new clients is now auto-populating as January. For the majority of New Zealand clients, the balance date is March, so defaulting to January is not practical.

If the balance date is going to be auto-populated, it should default to March rather than January to better reflect common NZ reporting periods.

  15. Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, when editing an existing contact, the mobile phone number and salutation fields no longer appear. Only the “phone” field is visible.

When adding a new contact, these fields are still available, and when viewing an existing contact, the data is still present. However, it is not possible to see or edit these fields during contact editing.

Most of our phone numbers are stored in the mobile phone field, so this change significantly impacts usability.

Please restore the mobile phone and salutation fields in the edit contact screen, along with access to the…

  16. Since the recent update in Nov/Dec 2025, hovering over a client name on the XPM group screen shows a pop-up label that repeats the client name.

This pop-up does not provide any additional information and often gets in the way while navigating the screen. Removing it would improve usability and reduce unnecessary on-screen clutter.

  17. Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, the group name is less prominent on the 'group' screen, and does not stand out as clearly as it did previously.

The larger group name made it easier to identify which screen you were on, which is especially important now that many screens have a similar layout. Increasing the prominence or size of the group name again would improve clarity and usability.

  18. Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, the star indicator within client groups that identified the main entity has been removed.

This indicator was heavily relied on to quickly identify the primary entity within a group. Please reinstate the star or an equivalent visual marker so the main entity can be clearly identified at a glance.

Hi Tanya, thanks so much for your feedback on PAYG Instalment reporting in XPM. We really appreciate you taking the time to share how a bulk export of ATO prefill data would help your practice.

We’ve reviewed your idea and moved it to Gaining Support, which means it’s now open for the community to vote on and add their own comments. If you’re able to share a bit more about your workflow, it might encourage others to jump in with their experiences too, and give the product team a clearer picture of the need.

We’ll keep you updated on any progress.

  20. It is not currently possible to pull a report of all clients that have Franked distributions (field U) and Franking credit (field D) on their tax returns. As the ATO has released a new area of focus on franking credit trading rules known as the '45 day holding period rule' we would like an easy way to track and highlight companies that could

Appreciate you raising the idea in the forums here. We'll continue to get a sense of the interest in being able to pull these Franking fields with the report builder.

If there are any plans made for enabling this we'll be sure to share with you all here.
