AU Tax - Ability to share Rental Property Schedules
The fact that it's so hard to get a rental property schedule to share from one return to the selected second client is very very very very annoying. If there were a button we could press to manually ask it to share across that would save endless saving, closing, opening, closing the whole program, turning off your computer and leaving my desk in frustration.

New staff Experience - Assign organisation user permissions within Practice tools
In the new staff experience, it's only possible to assign staff members the Advisor or None role for a Xero organisation. It would be good to have blue Xero organisation roles available to select so to give my staff the correct permission from within practice tools (HQ/XPM)

Report templates - Minimise hidden notes
Report Templates - notes (text blocks and schedules) to be minimised/collapsed when they are hidden instead of just greyed out so they don't take up as much space

JAX - Ability to enable for multiple organisations at once
We have multiple Practices with multiple organisations. To add JAX to every single organisation is not even fathomable. A feature that allows users to enable JAX for multiple organisation is needed, it doesn't have to be from Xero HQ, possibly even My Xero would work.

Clients search - Business Name/Previous Entity Name Search Capability
Hi,
It would be nice if the software could search by a entity's registered business names or previously know entity names and it bring up the current company file.
We are able to add previous names or business names to the custom fields under a company's profile, but unless you know all the names by memory it can be hard to match up clients when you receive correspondence address to the business name and no ABN is mentioned.

17 votesHi community, thanks for sharing your interest through this idea. We recently announced the Xero Partner Hub at Xerocon. It encompasses many improvements for our partners to be able to move more efficiently and serve clients. One of the changes that accommodates part of the idea here is that you'll be able to search the Client list by a clients organisation name, or legal/trading name as mentioned on this related idea.
We appreciate there may be some practices using custom fields for this data and we want to be open that custom fields will not be searchable from the Client list. We have another idea for searching custom fields that you can join and follow for updates. You can find out more about Xero Partner Hub from our website.

AU Tax - set default print settings for your practice
It would be great to be able to set default print settings for the practice, especially by tax return type. Recently Xero changed the default and now I have an extra box to untick each time. Pain in the backside. Thanks

Practice Manager | Jobs - Search for client when creating a job
When creating a new job the client drop down list can be quite long. it would be good to have the ability to search for the client name instead of selecting from a dropdown menu.

Xero Tax fields in XPM to be importable and extended to UTRs for business tax clients.
Within XPM there are fields for individuals in the Tax section of Client with UTR and National Insurance number. It is not possible to import and upload to them, this would be useful as they then link to Xero Tax when filing a tax return. Currently we have them stored in a custom field as these weren't available originally. It would be good to be able to import all of our custom fields to the system's UTR and NINO fields.

ATO Compliance Reporting - Suggestion for "Unlodged Activity Statements" Report
Looking for a report that identifies clients who have registered for GST or PAYG with the ATO but have not lodged any Activity Statements (AS). This needs to be linked to the ATO. (some of these clients are new to needing to complete AS).
We are currently using MYOB for this feature.

AU Tax- Ability to pull due date from ATO
Prefill - when we prefill a return from the ATO it brings in lots of information but doesn't update the due date for lodgement. The date currently appears to prefill from client details.
Can we please have Prefill bring in the ATO due date for the return?

Currently, you can import an 'Income tax lodgment status report' from ATO online services to bulk update the current tax returns due dates in the client details, but for now Xero does not pull this information from the ATO. We've moved this idea to gaining support and we'll monitor the idea for more support.

AU Tax - Default refund account type to client
AU TAX - Default EFT account type to CLIENT
Under Cover > Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) > Account type there are 3 options - Manual, Client, and Agent.
It would be helpful if there was a setting in Client Settings > Client Types to default the EFT Account type, so we don't have to manually change this on every return.

XPM - Place of Birth field
Place of birth, like Director ID, is a field that is important for any individual clients who are company officeholders. Rather than having to keep this record in an external software, ideally we would have all the information about a client in one place, and as such, would appreciate a "PLACE OF BIRTH" field somewhere in the client record to facilitate this.

AU Tax - Change default to 'Yes' for transfer capital gains to tax return on Managed Fund Schedule
On Managed Fund Schedule can the transfer capital gains to tax return default to "yes" instead of "no" ?

We've reviewed your suggestion to change the default option to 'Yes' for transferring capital gains to the tax return on the Managed Fund Schedule. Your idea is now ready to gain support and feedback from other tax preparers in the community.

Xero HQ - Connect client record when receiving subscription transfer request
Upon accepting a subscription transfer request, it would be great to have an option to "link to existing client record" or "create a new client record". There's currently no option for this and this creates double-up entries in Xero HQ which need to be manually removed, re-linked and archived.

NZ Tax - hold tax return until after P1
NZ Tax 50/50 split to automatically prevent INC return from filing before P1 date. When selecting 50/50 split in the XPM Statements area, the INC return automatically drops all P1 payment details from the Income Tax payment schedule. It also suppresses the P1 tax notice from XPM Payments area.
Can it also stop the filing of the Income Tax return until after the P1 due date, or put a warning in the Audit Check that 50/50 has been selected and the filing date is not set.

At the moment, Xero Tax doesn’t automatically hold returns before P1, so timing still needs to be managed manually. Some practices choose to set a future Tax Return File Date in XPM, which delays filing until the date they’ve chosen, though we know this won’t suit every setup.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining support, and it’s now open for the wider community to join the conversation. If you’re open to it, adding a little more detail about your workflow could help others see where this makes a difference.

Add Date greater than 50 years to client
Ability to add a date greater than 50 years. We have a custom field for trust vesting date (typically up to 80 years after formation). Since the latest update we are unable to add date greater than 50 years.

NZ Tax - Check of Overseas Income Jurisdiction codes to identify invalid country code
NZ Tax Audit Check of Overseas Income Jurisdiction Codes needs corrected to identify invalid country code UK and bring up a red error message. The correct code for the United Kingdom is GB not UK, the audit check should pick this up at the audit check stage which it currently does not. Thus when we go to file the return the return goes in to error as the jurisdiction code is invalid.

Ability to Select a Partial Main Residence Exemption Code (in the CGT Worksheet section)
Recently we had a client who sold their property, which triggered a CGT event. The property was initially their main residence, however this ceased once the property commenced being rented out. Therefore, a partial main residence exemption applies, however Xero Tax doesn't currently provide a code to acknowledge this scenario, once providing a main residence exemption code (see attachment). For enhanced clarity, it would arguably be useful if such a code was provided, so the gross capital gain can be apportioned between the amount subject to CGT & amount subject to the full MRE.
