  2. Xero Tax makes no attempt to look at the age of the recipient of superannuation annuities. Taxed Elements for individuals over 60 years of age are meant to be excluded from the tax return. The ATO does this automatically - Xero Tax does not. It is not a feature request, this is an error in the software that needs rectifying.

Thanks Chris for the feedback. We hear that reviewing and adjusting superannuation components based on age can add extra steps during the return process.

Incorporating age-based logic for Superannuation Taxed Elements may help reduce manual handling and support more streamlined preparation workflows. This has been moved to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and share it with the product team.

  3. Currently UOMI just shows as a note above the payment schedule but is not included in it, so it is easy to miss and doesn't show our clients the total liability.

Please could you include a line for UOMI in the payment schedule as well as including the note which shows the date interest is calculated up to (like MYOB does)?

Alternatively please add a tick box to the Use of Money Interest settings so we choose whether or not to add it to the payment schedule.

    Thank you.

Appreciate you sharing with us here, Kathryn. Thanks for also adding detail on why this'd be useful.

We're just starting to get a sense of the wider interest for this from the community here - make sure to share your idea with colleagues that'd like to see this developed so they can vote, too.

I'll make sure to update if there are any plans made.

  4. When we are archiving a client there should be the ability to archive the contacts (if they are not linked to an active client profile). Or at least be able to Archive them from the contacts page https://hq.xero.com/clients/contacts

Currently the only option is to edit or delete, deleting is not a great option should you need to follow revisit something in the future.

If you don't delete them, you are then left with the contact appearing in the suggestion list when trying to connect clients to a client profile.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on archiving contacts in XPM. We appreciate you explaining how this could improve your workflow when managing archived clients.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

  5. When viewing the list of archived jobs the default view is sorted by name. As our annual jobs start with the year this means the oldest jobs show first. I want the newest jobs to show first so click on the Due column which sorts by the oldest date and then click again to reverse the order to show by the newest date.

It would be great if the view automatically sorted by the newest due date as most of the time it is the most recent jobs that you want to look at.

Thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We understand the request to change the default sort order for archived jobs so the newest records appear first. This could make it easier to access recently archived jobs.

We've moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue gathering votes and feedback. If this would be useful, share how you'd use it

  6. It's great that XPM now has standard fields for Date of Death, additional email addresses (on the client file) and additional physical addresses, however, we cannot run a report to show those fields.

Your idea is now live! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on how we can improve. To move forward, your suggestion needs community support—feel free to share it with your colleagues to gather more votes. Other Xero users can now also provide feedback and additional details in the comments section to help us understand the potential impact.

  7. I've just spent too long going through the client record fields to figure out that the reason that the record wouldn't save was a duplicate client code. Before the update, XPM would pop up with something like "client code already in use" or "TFN not valid". Now, there's no message at all. Please restore the error messages!

Further, please restore the ability to update related client addresses all at once.

  8. Enable full visibility of Contacts when accessing via Additional Contacts area in Client screen.

Currently, when we access a Contact via the Additional Contacts section of the Client screen, not all contact fields are displayed.

Furthermore, when editing or adding a new contact, we cannot edit or access all the contact details. We cannot add or edit Mobile numbers or custom fields for Contacts. To access these, we have to exit the Client screen and access Contacts separately via Clients > Contacts.

This adds a lot of extra steps that can be avoided by ensuring full visibility and full access…

  9. Prior to the new XPM update, viewing a group provided a detailed breakdown of each client's business structure. The new layout simplifies this into broad categories (individual, company, trust, partnership, other), meaning you now have to click into each client to see the specific details. For example, 'other' represents a range of options such as departing client, on hold due to non-payment, or a non-client entity. This makes it harder to understand a client's status at a glance. Reintroducing the full business structure breakdown would significantly improve efficiency by allowing users to quickly interpret each client's status without needing additional…

Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the business structure view in Xero Practice Hub. It’s helpful to understand how important it is to see clearer client details at a glance when you’re managing groups of clients.

Your suggestion around having a more detailed business structure breakdown makes sense, especially as broader categories like Other can cover a mix of different client situations.

We’ve now moved this idea to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for the community to vote and add comments. This helps us understand what’s most valuable to you, and we’ll keep you posted as things progress. If others would find this useful too, feel free to share your thoughts.

  10. Currently the productivity pie chart on the home page only reports on a weekly basis. It would be great if the home page can add a 2nd productivity pie chart which is set to report on a monthly basis. Most accounting firms/staff have monthly productivity targets, so this is why it would be a wonderful way to track MTD productivity results instead of only weekly.

  12. Currently in Xero Tax, non-depreciable assets entered into the rental schedule do not roll forward into future income tax returns (ITRs), creating unnecessary manual data entry and inconsistency.

Suggested improvement: Add support to roll forward non-depreciable assets (such as land) within the rental schedule when generating the next year’s return to maintain asset continuity and save time.

  14. It would be nice if client that need to sign the report were able to be send an electronic copy and are able to sign electronically via the ask function. Instead of needing to use a third-party application. It would greatly assist with record keeping and making sure all the imported items are stored withing one app.

  15. Why will the IR3 Tax return not let you claim the IETC for the number of months a client is entitled to, before Best Start payments start. It will calculate the IETC for the 9 months in the return but as soon as the Working for Families schedule is added with the Best Start Payments boxed ticked it changes the calculation to NIL.

You would think that the IETC calculation would remain or could be manually over-ridden so all calculated amounts would show on the tax summary for the client. This could be flagged when an audit of the tax…

Hi Joanne, appreciate you raising the idea with us here.

Just to confirm how this currently works - in the Xero Tax IR3 form, IETC is tied to the income amount entered in the return. The question that asks whether they're eligible is part of the form logic, and will determine if your income or status is non-qualifying. If this is the case it'll mark IETC as unavailable.

While we'll get a sense of the wider interest in a change for this here, we want to be upfront that we don't have any short term plans for changing this forms logic.

  16. Having the ability to email a client directly from the 'Search clients' area to avoid opening the client file.

If you search a client & click on the email in the column, there is a pop up just showing the email address again. This should be interactive so you can click on it & an automatic pop out to a new email opens, using your default program. Outlook in my case.
If I need to email multiple clients in a row, this method would be faster than opening each client file to automatically email then going back to search again,…

Hey LInda, thanks for raising this idea with us. Having the option to email a client directly from the client list in XPH is not something we have planned but we have moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can monitor votes and comments. Now all you need to do is share this with friends and colleagues to add their votes and comments!

  17. It would be really helpful if invoice templates could adjust automatically based on client type, instead of having to create and assign multiple templates manually.

    For example:
    1. Individuals and Partnerships would include the 'Attention' field, but not include the 'Contact Name' field
    2. Company invoices would include the 'Attention' field, but not the 'Contact Name' field
    3. Trusts, SMSFs, and Charities would include both the 'Attention' field and the 'Contact Name' field

This would save time, reduce errors, and ensure invoices are always addressing the legal entity correctly for each client type.

    Thanks for considering this improvement!

We have successfully reviewed your submission! Your idea is now available for the community to support.

  19. When data is imported from Xero HQ or a client’s Xero ledger into Xero Tax, the system automatically appends the Chart of Accounts code to the account name e.g. “Sales (400), even when the underlying Chart of Accounts name field does not contain the code.

While this improves traceability, it creates unnecessary clutter in the tax return view and workpapers, especially where codes are not relevant for presentation to clients.

Users also cannot rename or hide the codes within the Xero Tax interface.

I request that a feature be included where you can add an option (checkbox or setting) within…

Hi everyone 👋 thanks for your continued feedback and for sharing your thoughts on this idea. While this idea is not currently on our development roadmap, we are always reviewing feedback to help us shape our product priorities. As a workaround for now, you can use the existing data roll-over function for client shareholders and then manually adjust the details for non-client shareholders. We'll be in touch with another update if there is any change to the status of this idea.
