XPM - Ability to Archive contacts
When we are archiving a client there should be the ability to archive the contacts (if they are not linked to an active client profile). Or at least be able to Archive them from the contacts page https://hq.xero.com/clients/contacts
Currently the only option is to edit or delete, deleting is not a great option should you need to follow revisit something in the future.
If you don't delete them, you are then left with the contact appearing in the suggestion list when trying to connect clients to a client profile.

AU Tax - Pull client date of death into return
It would be useful for the client date of death field to automatically be pulled into the relevant tax return if field to save manual look up and entry when entering client tax returns.
5 votesWe appreciate that with date of death now available as a field on a client record that some users would like to see this automatically pull through to the relevant tax return.
While we don't have direct plans of this right now we're keen to get a sense of interest in this from our partners in community.

XPM - Sync updated client information via Xero to the ATO Portal
It would be good if we could update client info changes such as change of address or bank account changes directly in Xero that would then update on the ATO Portal. Having used this in another accounting package, it is an extremely efficient process that make sure the client info is updated at both sites. Making these changes directly through the ATO portal gives no (or very little) audit trail.
22 votesHi Jo, thanks for sharing this great idea for improving practice efficiency. We understand how valuable a better audit trail and a more streamlined process would be for keeping client details up-to-date.
We've reviewed your suggestion to have client information updated in XPM, such as addresses or bank details, sync directly with the ATO Portal. This idea is now ready to gain support from other community members.
Along with votes, others can now comment to share how this direct integration would improve the workflow and data accuracy for their own practice. 🙂

AU Tax - Non Depreciable asset to roll forward
Currently in Xero Tax, non-depreciable assets entered into the rental schedule do not roll forward into future income tax returns (ITRs), creating unnecessary manual data entry and inconsistency.
Suggested improvement: Add support to roll forward non-depreciable assets (such as land) within the rental schedule when generating the next year’s return to maintain asset continuity and save time.

Practice tools | Staff - Ability to assign clients when inviting staff
Previously in Xero HQ you could invite a new staff member and immediately assign clients to them - This was efficient. Now the staff member has to accept the invite first before any clients can be assigned.
12 votesWe understand this is a feature practices may like to see. We'd like to get a gauge interest from beta participants that'd find this feature useful - Add your vote, share importance and any comments to share extra detail of how this would help your practice.

NZ Tax - Correct amount when provisional tax unpaid & provisional date has passed
If a client fails to pay the first installment of provisional tax why is it then added to the next installment and then P1 shows as nothing due. This is incorrect, the amount due at P1 is still the same (per the IRD), the debt at P1 has not moved to P2. What happens for client's who have RIT over $60k?

NZ Tax - Cross-Form Validation Check for NZ Taxable Income Figures
Box 29 of the IR10 should match the taxable income per the main income tax return (IR3, IR4, IR6, IR7, etc).
It would be helpful if when running an audit check on a tax return, XPM checks to see whether they match and notifies us when it does not match.
Thanks!
9 votesHi Caeden, thanks for sharing your idea about IR10 validation. It’s great to understand how automatically matching Box 29 with the main tax return could make audit workflows smoother.
The community team has reviewed this and moved it to Gaining support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. If you’d like to see this in action, sharing a bit more about how you’d use it in your practice could help others understand its value.
We’d also love to hear from anyone else with thoughts or experiences around this as it helps our team understand the impact. We’ll keep you updated as the idea develops.

NZ tax - Run an exportable report on outstanding & mismatched transfers/refunds
Would be very beneficial to be able to run a report listing all clients who have outstanding transfers and refunds for a period (and export it). We need to be proactive and contact the IRD before they refund the client instead of actioning a transfer as requested. In APS we could pick up any mismatch early and were able to contact the IRD or the client and rectify quickly.

NZ Tax - Improved tracking and matching of Transfers in Tax Statements
In Tax Statements, under Transfers tab: the "auto mark as complete" needs to happen by both amount and date. So need the ability to set the effective date for the transfer to occur, therefore if IRD does something different we are alerted.
Currently if transfer is the same $ value or more, then Xero automatically marks as complete, this should not occur. If the $ is more then the transfer has not gone as expected and we need to be alerted to this.
For transfers that IRD does that are higher than expected we need to be able to set…
52 votesThanks for supporting this idea, everyone.
While we know this isn't a perfect solution, the current workaround is to manually track these transfers and we have some help on doing this within Xero Central.
While we understand the desire for improvements to this process, we want to be upfront that this isn't in our current roadmap.
As you may have heard from our recent Xerocon announcements there are lots of exciting improvements coming within the Practice space over the coming months that we our teams are developing for.
While we will move the idea to Not in pipeline, should there be any change around this we will be sure to share with you here.

Practice tools | Tax Statements & Payments - Indicator for roll forward notes
For notes made in Tax Payments: these need to be split into 2 areas, (1) notes pertaining to that provisional installment and, (2) notes that will continue to roll forward.
It is crucial that even if the installment date has passed, the notes are still visible. Also from the main Tax Payments screen we need an indicator on the client row to show that the client has an active note (with the ability to archive a note as well).

Xero Sign - client details added automatically
Xero sign in document packs - you currently need to manually input the client's details to add their signature for each document pack (for docs with no auto signing feature like tax returns).
It would be great if there was an option to simply select a client from XPM as all the details are already there (First name/Last name/Email)
4 votesHi everyone ✨ Thanks for sharing your feedback on this idea. We appreciate the time taken to do this and we would like to be completely transparent around this Idea. It is not in the immediate future planning however we have moved the Idea to Gaining Support. Your continued votes and comments help us understand the impact and prioritize improvements that matter most to you.

Individual Income Tax Return - Future Year Return - Tax Rate
When preparing future year return, in my case, FY2025 tax return for one individual client, even though it shows 2025 tax year, Xero tax is actually FY2024 tax rate for calculation. So the result is not accurate. Will Xero Tax fix this issue in the future?

Xero Tax(AU) | Worksheet to calculate number of days not liable for M2 (Medicare levy surcharge)
When some client has more than 1 health insurance policy and the period of the same are diffrent and sometime overlapping we need the work out this manually which can sometime be wrongly caluclated and can impact the tax estimates.
Xero should have a worksheet where we can enter policy details along with perioid of coverage to that it can calculae the days acurately. Similar feature is avaialble in MYOB AO and comes in very handy.

Report - Yet to be started GST Returns
There is currently no option in XPM to build a report that shows the GST returns that have not been created yet. Whilst this is possible using the [Client] Tax Return Status field for Financial year end returns, it is not possible for GST returns.
For practices needing to file 100s of GST returns for various clients each month. Having the ability to see, for a given period, whether any GST filings were missed would be extremely helpful.
5 votesHi David, we appreciate your idea about GST return tracking in XPM. Being able to create a custom report to view GST returns that haven’t been done yet would be really helpful, especially for practices managing high volumes of returns.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support, so it’s now open for votes and comments. The more feedback and use cases shared here, the better our product team can understand how valuable this would be.
We’d love to hear how others currently manage GST return tracking and whether this report would support your workflow. Thanks again for starting the conversation!

UK Tax - Add client address and balance sheet data to sa800 or partnership tax
Ability to add client address and balance sheet data to sa800 or partnership tax - raising on behalf of customer.
5 votesHey Mandy, thanks for asking Anchal to raise this as an Idea for review. As Anchal and the Product team have conveyed this is being looked at currently (Balance Sheet addition to Partnership filings) and there will be updates as this progresses. The client address is not something we are looking at currently as it is not mandatory for HMRC or Companies House.

Clients - Export client data (eg phone numbers)
With the new layout the old reports - even the customisable ones do not have all these new fields that can be chosen and exported.
Eg there are now multiple phone fields which is great but I use this data to export to my phone system but now I cant.
4 votesHi Matthew, appreciate you sharing how the ability to export clients' information can supports your workflows, particularly when integrating with external systems like phone or CRM tools.
This idea has now moved to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for the community to vote and add comments. With the new layout, some of the fields available in the old reports, like multiple phone numbers — aren’t currently included in exports. Hearing how this affects your workflow, and what fields you’d find most useful, helps our product team understand the real-world impact and prioritise improvements.
We encourage anyone who would find this useful to add their votes and share how it could benefit their practice. Thanks for helping us make Xero even better.

AU Tax - Improve the validation error experience
I had a validation error CMN.ATO.DISTBENTRT.000013 generated in an SMSF tax return.
When I clicked on the validation error it took me to a specific trust income schedule (number 10 of 18), which had several fields highlighted. The error says that there must be a number in any of the fields A B D U and so on - this schedule met this condition.
After much wasted time trying to re-enter fields, checking there were no blank spaces, deleting and re-entering all fields, deleting and re-entering the whole schedule, I contacted support.
It turns out the error was actually generated…29 votesHi Vicki, we're grateful for your detailed suggestion of how to improve the validation error linking and highlighting experience in AU Tax.
We'll continue to monitor the level of support this idea receives from the community. Thanks again for your contribution.
