    We've reviewed your idea for a filter in Xero HQ to get a list of clients who are paying wages, and now it can gain support from other community members.

  2. Please can you make it possible to add manual transactions to the "tax statement" that will show up in the tax return.

    We often did this with MYOB, eg. adding a penalty that we know will be charged after the tax return has been filed, or changing a late filing penalty from $50 to $250 if the client's income is more than $100k (as this will be updated at IRD after the return is filed).

    At the moment it looks like we can only edit the pdf which is very disappointing...

    Thanks for adding this request to our Ideas Kathryn. We have looked at this with current NZ Tax compliance in mind and for transparency this is not something we are looking into at this time. We appreciate it is something others may see as beneficial so other users are able to vote in this.

  3. Xero Tax should have another Tab to View ALL NON Lodged.
    Right now you have to go to Draft, Completed, Approved, To Sign, To File - that's 5 tabs to see which returns and BAS are not yet lodged. All tab includes Filed. There needs to be a tab where you can view All Non Lodged excluding Filed.

  4. The Xero XPM system calculates GST for each task being billed, but it doesn’t have a total GST check at the invoice level. As a result, some invoices with round billed amounts—such as $30,000—end up with incorrectly rounded GST, for example, $2,999.99. Xero calculates GST on each line item of invoices and other transactions, rounding to the nearest cent. The total GST is then the sum of these individual line calculations, which can sometimes lead to small discrepancies in the overall GST amount.

    Hi Martin, thanks for sharing your idea about GST validation in XPM invoicing. It’s really helpful to hear how a total GST check could help prevent rounding discrepancies.

  5. Public Holiday configuration: There should be a place for admin to set up public holiday for all practice members instead of them having to submit individual timesheets.

    The purpose is to have all necessary data for practice manager to do capacity planning accordingly.

  6. You are able to post a dividend with a date in a different year. I don't think it should let you type a date outside of the period. Until you click review it does not flag an error

  7. When filing an SA100, allow us to change the Personal allowance of the client to match their actual tax code, so the return can be filed correctly. Currently on the generic tax code is catered for, and this doesn’t account for people who have different tax codes.

  8. Ability to add a date greater than 50 years. We have a custom field for trust vesting date (typically up to 80 years after formation). Since the latest update we are unable to add date greater than 50 years.

  9. Recently we had a client who sold their property, which triggered a CGT event. The property was initially their main residence, however this ceased once the property commenced being rented out. Therefore, a partial main residence exemption applies, however Xero Tax doesn't currently provide a code to acknowledge this scenario, once providing a main residence exemption code (see attachment). For enhanced clarity, it would arguably be useful if such a code was provided, so the gross capital gain can be apportioned between the amount subject to CGT & amount subject to the full MRE.

    Thanks so much for sharing your feedback on adding a Partial Main Residence Exemption code to the CGT Worksheet in Xero Tax.

    As you know, right now, the best workaround is to manually adjust either the Capital proceeds or Cost base in the worksheet. This helps ensure the correct Net capital gain flows through to Item 18A, and still lets you use Exemption Code I. We know it’s not ideal, and it’s exactly the kind of thing you want a built-in solution for.

    We’ve reviewed the idea and moved it to Gaining Support, which means it’s now open for more votes and discussion. Community support plays a big part in helping our product team understand the need. We’ll update the thread if anything changes.

  10. Please reinstate the ability to edit email addresses under the bulk email function under Tax > Payments. Depending on the type of tax notice, we have to send a tax notice to a staff member and copy in an additional person. It will not allow us to enter in a second email address under the client profile. This is very time consuming if we have to send it out twice and inefficient.

  11. We have set up tracking categories in xero - one for Land & property and one for Self employment. I want to be able to import the data in to their tax return. I normally generate on xero tax the xero sole trader accounts to then be able to import these into the tax return. However, when i do the sole trader accounts, it pull through all information - L&P & SE. I only want the SE bit so i can add this to the SE section on the tax return.     Thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how filtering sole trader account data by tracking category could support your tax preparation workflow.

    As you've mentioned, tracking categories will be utilised to support multiple businesses for MTD for IT, however this isn't available with Xero Tax for sole trader accounts preparation.

  12. Client History
    It would be great to have a running record of client history in XPM, showing the date and person who, including but not limited to:
    - created the client
    - edited client details
    - archived client
    In a large firm over multiple offices, it would be easier to know who to contact if there are questions about details are entered into XPM, and keep XPM as a CRM up to date.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing on your needs for a comprehensive client audit trail in XPM. We understand this feature is critical for accountability and data integrity, and we hear you on the pain points this is causing.

    As you might've read and heard updates of our teams are currently working on a unified experience across practice tools with the Xero Partner Hub.

    History of client changes aren't wrapped into the initial work, but this is something the team would like to look at longer term and for now we'll move the idea to Accepted. Once Xero Partner Hub is fully released we can consider and will share any updates around history with you all here

  13. It would be great to have Payroll Manager for Australia, to be able to see a list of clients who have payroll, reporting on last posted payrun, last filed payrun, last superannuation payment, status of superannuation payment (ie: submitted, approved, rejected, failed, etc). this would save significant time rather than having to open each client file one by one to check this information.

    This is something we’ve heard interest in from other customers as well, so we’re moving it into the Gaining support stage. From here, other users can add their votes and comments, which helps show how many people would find this useful and the different ways it would help them.

    Our product team regularly reviews ideas in this stage alongside other work. While we can’t promise if or when this will be developed, the level of support and detail shared here is an important input into future planning.

  14. Incorrect Bulk Update and Suggested Notification Process

    Example Scenario:
    On Job Manager, a staff member accidentally selected all active jobs and changed their status from “In Progress” to “Completed” using the bulk update feature.
    Impact:

    Over 150 jobs were marked as completed.
    Workflow visibility was disrupted, and deadlines were missed because jobs disappeared from active lists.

    Root Cause:

    Bulk update permissions were too broad.
    No audit trail or alert triggered when job states changed.

    Recommended Controls:

    Trigger Email Notifications for Job Status Changes/Setting up email alerts
    Detecting incorrect bulk updates
    Reverting changes quickly Options
    Require confirmation before applying changes to…

    In the meantime, it is worth noting that a custom job notification for job state change could be created in your XPM account if you haven't done so already.

  15. Xero Tax currently doesn't have the functionality to separately display non-current assets and current assets as distinct sections on the face of the balance sheet. The software is presenting all debtors (including the deferred tax asset) under the current assets section, with the split between current and non-current amounts shown only in the notes.

    Whilst FRS 102:4.4A states that in most cases it's sufficient to disclose amounts due after more than one year in the notes, in our recent case we identified that we had a material item that requires separate disclosure on the face of the balance sheet to…

  16. Grab all ATO online prefill data. Why exclude the data that shows how many days hospital cover was covered? Why not provide all the data that is available on the portal prefill pintouts? (Including previous year deductions and occupation etc)

  17. It's great that XPM now has standard fields for Date of Death, additional email addresses (on the client file) and additional physical addresses, however, we cannot run a report to show those fields.

  18. If my client is tech challenged and cannot figure out how to follow a signature request link from your emails, I send them the link to https://portal.xero.com/ and they can usually manage it from there. This appears to work for document packs too.

    Can we please have a similar universal login link for ask queries?

  19. Please restore the ability to open XPM search results in a new tab using Ctrl + click.

    I regularly use the search button in the top right of XPM to look up client names. While right-clicking still allows links to be opened in a new tab, Ctrl + click no longer works.

    Ctrl + click is a much faster and more natural workflow, especially when moving through multiple clients, so losing this functionality has reduced efficiency. It would be great to have this reinstated.

  20. We have multiple Practices with multiple organisations. To add JAX to every single organisation is not even fathomable. A feature that allows users to enable JAX for multiple organisation is needed, it doesn't have to be from Xero HQ, possibly even My Xero would work.
