  1. When entering multiple contacts, it would be good to have the option to "save and create new contact" as well as the "Cancel" and "Save and Close" option after entering the information. Currently you have to press Save and Close, go back to Contacts, then select New Contact.

  2. Hi, I will be looking after the credit control activity of the organisation I recently joined. After looking at the portal, I think it would be useful to be able to create alerts for specific schools, for specific dates, reminding me I need to contact them on those days and be able to switch reminders, on or off, with the opportunity to select the dates (ex if invoice not paid by ... the reminders will switch back on automatically on on the date I set up). Do you think this functions can be implemented presuming it would be useful to…

    Thanks for the suggestion, Samantha. There are a lot of different types of alerts and notifications that our customers would like to see Xero develop. 

    When you mention credit control I wanted to highlight Credit limits that can be set for a contact and may be of some use to you here. 

    There is also the ability to set Invoice Reminders for when invoices are overdue and you may want to set up for contacts. 

    We don't have other alerts or warnings planned at this stage but will begin to get a sense of the interest for your idea here. 

  3. Xero has the facility to look up UK addresses by postcode when entering new contacts etc.

    Unfortunately it usually makes a such a mess of the address, I end up editing it all again anyway!

    • UK Postcode lookups can return a Company Name (e.g. if there are multiple companies registered at the same address.) Xero adds this company name again to the address. In our case, that is a duplicate of the Contact name, so we take that out to avoid it appearing twice.

    • UK Postal counties are obsolete and should no longer be used in postal addresses. Royal Mail…

  4. It would be extremely helpful to be able to assign a range of default settings to either individual contacts, or to contact groups, such as:
    - invoice template
    - billing cycle (((would also be great to get variable billing cycles as a feature!))
    - currency

    we have a fair amount of customer hierarchy, which we've been able to somewhat address with contact groups.. but the fundamental lack of configurable options after the group is designated feels hugely wasted.

  5. In the HubDoc there is a default setting with a checkbox always marked (active) for "save configuration".

    A lot of mistakes are made because old text is saved and reused when it shouldn't.

    It's better if there is no text instead of wrong text.

    Therefore the default should be unchecked (off) for this "save configuration" checkbox because it causes a lot of problems when the wrong text is saved to XERO.

  6. From within your contact details or Quote or Invoice - why not have the functionality to communicate to a client via WhatsApp or send the Quote or Invoice via WhatsApp. If you are in the construction industry, acknowledging that not everyone is in construction, the craftsmen you work with only gets to Mail and acceptance of quotes in the evenings. WhatsApp's they respond to easily and quickly ....

  7. Show the email subject line in Xero files.

    It's simple enough to forward emails with invoices to my xero mailbox, but I don't have control over the filename. It would be great if Xero can show the subject line. That way I could change the subject line when I forward the email. It would look like a note on the invoice in Xero Files.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing and supporting this idea. The file name shown in Xero Files is taken from the name on the attachments. As a workaround these could be renamed before the emails are forwarded to Xero or renamed from within Xero files. 

  8. With the old display, I could open a document and then click through a full screen view of each. Now its only a half screen view and its too small to read some small EFTPOS receipts! I know I can open the document in a new window, but the next/back buttons are gone and each document needs to be opened. Please reinstate the next/back buttons!!!

  10. You should be able to create a Bill Credit note directly from the FILES folder of your profile. This way when you go in to check the Credit note, you can create it straight away, rather than have to go out, in to Bills, and then have to create it from there.
    OR when you send an 'invoice'/attachment through to your draft bills, you should be able to change it to be a bill credit note rather than a bill

  11. Project Assigning in Hubdoc. It would be most useful if our accounting team could choose between a Billable Expense and Assign to a Project in Hubdoc. We have many small expenses that have to be assigned to projects, as the client has already paid in most cases. We have to find each one, which is a challenge, open the bill, and assign each one manually. It is so time-consuming. So much processing time. Please consider this, it would be so appreciated.

  12. In files, previewing a PDF that has been uploaded or sent to files will not work for many chrome users.

    Upon opening in files, it gives the error "This file can't be previewed with this browser."

    This occurs if the user has google chrome, and has google chrome set to "Download PDFs" instead of "Open PDFs in Chrome."

    Many people have chrome set this way. Other sites have somehow managed to make their PDF preview still work...hopefully Xero can implement this. The current setup makes it very hard to review uploaded files when they are in PDF format, as they…

    Thanks for the detail in your last message, Carlo. We appreciate some users may expect this to work differently, however as you have noted the files preview for PDF's is driven by the browser settings.

    If you're finding your PDF's download rather than being able to view them in your browser we would recommend looking at your browser settings to make sure the option to view in browser has been selected (as per the screenshot you shared).

    Being upfront this is not behavior that we're looking to change in the near future.

  13. On normal "blue" Xero, for each contact there is a Files and Notes Tab - it would be great if on the top banner there is a an icon to flag when there is content in that tab.

    Also, on the Activity Tab, there could a column to indicate when an invoice or bill has an File attached, as it appears when viewing all invoices or all bills (not under each specific contact).

  14. A way to mark contacts as " preferred suppliers",( traffic light colours?) and a way to attach a document to this contact such as a hire agreement/ contract/ agreed rates/insurance documents etc.

    Interesting idea around being able to mark suppliers as preferred, Catherine. It'll be good to get an understanding of the interest in this here.

    In terms of contracts, you can currently upload files to a contacts record which is where you could upload any contract, hire agreements, rates etc.

  15. When merging customers xero currently completes the merge and then displays the profile that has been moved which typically (for me) contains no customer data. Is it possible to instead display the profile that the customer has been merged to which shows all the existing customer data. Usually I am completing a merge and then having to go in and search for the customer name again.

  16. Currently, when filtering smart lists by location you can only add [city, state] tags. It would be nicer to be able to just add country tags, to sort / view contacts by country as opposed to by city.

    This would also allow new contacts in that country to automatically be added to the list, vs needing to handle this manually.

  17. When adding or editing a contact, I always enter their address.

    Xero has this great feature that allows searching for addresses, and that's wonderful!

    ...except it's arbitrarily limited to only search addresses in the country the Xero org is registered in; a US Xero org only offers autocompletion for US addresses, for example.

    In this modern, international, remote-friendly age, the notion of only having domestic clients is a little silly– especially when paying for a Xero tier that supports multiple currencies.

    So: being able to search/autocomplete international addresses when editing or adding contacts would be a great addition.

  18. Our contact cards are set up automatically through an API directly from our billing systems (we have multiple systems that are all coded differently). Fields like currency and branding are not updated with this link; therefore, the fields default to our Xero account settings. We want to export the contact card list with these fields to identify the clients with information that needs updating, to then fix and import in one step instead of updating each card.

  20. At present you have to enable indvidual currencies in Xero settings to allow a purchase receipt in this currency to go through from Hubdoc. If the currency is not pre-set up in Xero then the default is that that the purchase invoice reverts to GBP which means that you then have to reset the currency in Xero. If all currencies were automatically enable for Premium subscriptions this would be avoided and would not rely on each individual currency being manually added to Xero.
