Contacts - Ability to select a person instead of company name for all instances of use
In nearly every other business program, a Contact refers to a person and not the business name. The person should be the primary entry entered for contact information, and the business name is an attribute to that person, not the person an attribute to the business as it is currently set up in Xero. Hubdoc - Add supplier bank details when creating from a Bill
Option to add a bit more detail if needed for a supplier (bank account and email) for the ease of then must marking straight away in Xero for payment.

Make sure you share your idea with anyone that this could benefit so they can add their votes and comments about how this could also improve their experience with Hubdoc and Xero.
In the meantime, you could update the supplier with their email and bank details in the Contacts screen.

Contacts - Ability to add an ID type for e-invoicing
Noticed that the BRN can be filled in the "Business Registration Number" data field in Xero Contact, but how about the individual contact with an Identity Card or Passport number?
Even we can fill the IC / passport number in the BRN field, but how to choose the ID type (whether it is IC No., Passport No., BRN, or Army No.)?
4 votesHi Liew,thanks for raising this. We can see how having a dedicated field for e-invoicing IDs on a contact would make things easier, especially when you're managing different ID types and need a quick way to reference them.
At the moment, you can enter specific IDs like the BRN, but there’s no option to add a custom or more general ID type.
This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Your input helps us get a better sense of how useful this would be across the wider Xero community, and feeds into how we prioritise updates. We’ll share more here when there’s progress.

Hubdoc - Quick calculations when enter amounts
Calculator function in the dollar fields -- Reckon accounts has a function where, if you need to split a total into 2 or more lines, you can subtract it from within the dollar field just by pressing the minus button. Then to enter the result into the dollar field you just press the enter key. See screenshot.

Contacts - Keep 'Use as billing address' checked when edited
When using the new Check box. 'Use as billing address'. If you type in the address afterwards and edit the address. It deletes the the selected checkbox. 'use as billing address'
Just frustrating as you have to go back in and recheck.

Keeping the checkbox selected unless intentionally changed would make things quicker, easier, and less error-prone when updating contact details.
We’ve now moved the idea into the Gaining Support stage. That means it’s open for votes and comments, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the demand as feedback comes in. The community input helps the team gauge what matters most to our users.

Files Folders - Drag and drop files to change order
Within Files folder, to sort by drag and drop please? These are remittance advice for Gift Aid payments from HMRC and therefore not attached to any invoices BUT can get uploaded in the wrong order which is confusing for the auditor. Currently the only option is to download the whole contents, sort and reload.
Also could it be made possible please to have subfolders so that we can easily divide eg monthly investment reports by financial year without having a long list of separate folders in the main index?4 votes -
Contacts - Show Contact Details on Customer Activity Page
I would like to be able to see the "Contact Details" as a little box on the left side of the Customer Activity Page. See my example attached.
I use the 'contact details: notes' section to add notes about some of our jobs, because the History/Notes section is useless. I would like to see the ability to move the customer tabs around and display what we want to see on the activity page.

I can certainly see how having those specific notes visible right alongside the transaction feed would improve efficiency and make sure key information isn't missed.
While this isn't in our immediate plans to make changes in this area, this idea is open for support from other community members, and we'll keep a close eye on the interest here.

Contacts - Search newly registered addresses
When adding a contact, the "search address" works fine most of the time, but can take some time before new addresses are added to the search data base and require manual entry (usually cut and paste from Google Maps.) Could this feature not be linked with an API to the likes of Googles address infrastructure to utilise their rapidly adapting data base?

Hubdoc - Ability to receipt supplier payments as remittances in Xero
Why can’t we simplify the process of submitting and reconciling remittances from suppliers using a "receive money transaction" in Xero? Currently, when we receive a remittance through Hubdoc, we must manually change it to 'receipt' before submitting it. This creates an invoice draft in Xero, which we end up deleting as it serves no purpose, leaving the remittance stuck in Hubdoc. This process is inefficient and doesn’t make sense. We want to phase out Hubdoc, but it's currently the only place where we can store remittances. Ideally, Hubdoc should communicate directly with Xero, identifying the file as a remittance for…

Contact - Ability to copy & paste bank account number (accept spaces not just hyphens)
When you try to add a new bank account to a contact, Xero only accepts numbers and hyphens in the field. Spaces are not accepted.
All invoices issued by Xero have the issuer's bank account on the invoice formatted with separating spaces between the number blocks.
So when entering a new contact, I can't just copy-paste the bank account number from the invoice that was created by Xero because the format of such number doesn't comply with the formatting in Xero contact section. Every time it has to be manually edited by all the thousands of Xero users.

Contacts | Groups list - View Customer Account Credit Limits
Ability to show customer credit limit on the landing page of a GROUP (In this instance Credit Client)
Purpose - Users can easily see the credit limit along side the contact name and the headers "You Owe" and "They Owe" Providing a snap shot to avoid the need to click into each individual account to check their credit limit.

Contacts - Multiple sub-headings against the same Business name
We have global sized clients who issue us with contracts that need to be set up as separate entities under the same business name. you would think that the unique reference number box would work in tandem with the primary business contact name. This is especially important when setting up repeating invoices. I currently put the business name eg: Boxspan National and add a sub heading eg: Boxspan National [Diamond Project] . Now we have been advised that we can no longer do that as their accounting software will not pull the invoice through to the correct business entity. If…

Hubdoc - Failed tab notification dot
It would be really helpful if there was a way of adding a notification dot on the "failed" tab in Hubdocs to alert the user to any documents that have not been published. We have often had documents that have failed but forget to look on the failed tab. A reminder dot would be so helpful and probably quite easy to install into the programme. Is this possible please?

Contacts - Add Sales Tax Exemption field to import/export file
Please include the Sales Tax Exemption field as a column in the Contact csv template/import.
The new auto tax feature appears to utilize this field, and having to go to each contact through Xero, one at a time, to edit and update this field is very time consuming. Too many clicks to update a field for every customer contact a client has.

Contact | Credit Limits - Ability to set a default for all contacts
Should be an added feature of having the option to set a standard credit limit at the one time for all customers instead of having to enter each one individually. This can be edited for each customer later on.

Contacts Merge - Options to open contact record in a separate browser tab when searching
When merging contacts, you start typing the name of a contact you'd like the currently open contact merged into, and a list of similarly named contacts appears (including the contact you're getting rid of by merging it). I'd like to be able to open each of these in another tab from this list, so I can look and see which one I actually want.
4 votesSimilarly to the CTRL-click, from the list view you can use the mouse by using the left click + scroll button together to open a contact in a separate tab.
That said, appreciate if you're in a contacts record, this does mean opening another tab to search from the main contacts list.
To be honest, we don't have any immediate plans for developing the merge within a contact. It's something we'll continue to track here though, and I'll update if there's any progress to share.

Contacts - Preview files for supplier bills
In the activity tab in contacts, it'd be great to be able to have a "files" column just like in the bills section, so that we can preview the invoices to the side rather than having to click into the bill to see the invoice.

Billable expenses - Visible on Contact and dashboard widget
At the moment, there are two places you can find out if there are billable expenses outstanding for a Contact: at the bottom of the Sales Overview, and in one report.
A total should be visible in the header of Contacts that have had billable expenses assigned to them (including if there's Projects assigned to that Contact with uninvoiced expenses).
There should also be a widget for the dashboard similar to the section at the bottom of the Sales Overview.
These will make it easier to remember to on-bill expenses in a timely fashion.

API - Update all Contact fields via the API
During the creation process, we should be allowed to update all fields necessary on the Contact record.
Example I have at the moment is one of my customers needs to set their clients details within Xero so they can invoice them correctly. At the moment we can't use the API to set the Website field.
