EU / Spain Market Inclusivity for Tax purposes
I have been a user of Xero for almost 9 years. I find that xero is very intuitive and easy to use. However, I was surprised it was not as popular in EU / Spain despite this. At the moment, I'm doing a small project for a friend to produce reports for her and I opted to use Xero for the easy recording and tracking of transactions. However, I do find that the only reason we may not fully use this long term is because of the lack in its inclusivity of taxation settings for the EU / Spain market.…
1 voteHi Irene, thanks for highlighting this opportunity for improvement.
We can see how native support for European and Spanish tax requirements could help businesses operating in those regions manage compliance more effectively.
For now, Xero already provides a few flexible tools you can use to adapt to local requirements:
- Custom tax rates to reflect regional VAT or withholding rules
- Advanced invoice templates to support local formatting and required legal fields
- Tracking categories to separate and report on regional activity
To help us assess this further, it would be useful to understand the specific tax forms, reporting requirements, or e-invoicing standards you're working with, and why Xero's current feature can't fill the gap.
I've updated the status of this idea to Feedback while we gather more detail to narrow down the specific ask for this idea.

Reporting bug: 1 invalid formula. Please fix before switching or saving.
When editing reports we'll sometimes break formulas.
In some cases, after fixing the formulas by:
- Replacing broken elements so none are highlighted as red, or
- Literally replacing every single formula
We are still prevented from saving with the message "1 invalid formula. Please fix before switching or saving."This isn't a new idea but a request for the dev team to revisit the validation. It's pretty inconvenient to start over.
1 voteHi Flynn, thanks for flagging this behaviour. Sorry to hear you’re running into this error. If you’re seeing unexpected behaviour or something isn’t working as expected with report validation, it’s best reviewed more closely with your specific setup.
In these cases, we recommend raising a case with our Xero Support team via Xero Central. Our specialists can take a closer look with you and investigate what’s happening in your organisation.

Reporting - Publishing Financial Statements automatically select the Organisations Legal Name
When publishing Financial Statements, the selection defaults to the Xero Organization name as first option and not the organizations legal trading name. Sometimes their trading name or the name they have for their Xero file is not the Legal Name (for example a company might have their Xero ledger name as My Company, but their legal trading name is My Company Limited, so when you publish the reports, if you forget to switch it it prints as My Company, not adding the Limited on the end). The default should be to the actual legal name of the organisation, not its…
3 votesHey team just to follow on from my last update, I want to confirm this is actually is something that is not working as expected. While it has been raised with our Product team, the best way to be kept up to date with this issue is through our Xero Support team. Please get in contact the team through Xero Central.
Thank again.

CIS - Send CIS statements directly from Contact record
I find it incredibly frustrating and time consuming to handle when I have one subcontractor who for what ever reason hasn’t received their statement for a month or a few months to go through each individual submitted return and resend - I have to delete 40+ other subcontractors emails from the section to send one statement.
I appreciate I could download and email (still have to do individually via each CIS return) however as I am a subcontracted bookkeeeper, I’d rather the email address sending the statement is the Xero one and not my email address. It would be so…
2 votesThanks for sharing this feedback — I can appreciate how time-consuming this would be when you only need to resend statements for one subcontractor across multiple periods. At the moment, CIS statements can’t be sent directly from the subcontractor’s contact record in Xero. We can see how that would be a helpful workflow improvement, and we understand why the current process feels cumbersome. As a workaround, you can use the CIS Contractor (Monthly Return, Online Filing and Statements) report, then:
- Click on the All CIS Transactions tab
- filter the report to the subcontractor you need
- adjust the date range to the relevant period
- preview or download the statement for that subcontractor If you don’t have the add-on, the current option is to download the individual statement from the report and send it manually.

Company Accounts (UK) | New xero Financial accounts List of Accounts
We have been using the New Financial Accounts FRS102 IA template in Xero Business. Here are our feedback notes. In case anyone else is having the same issues.
When looking at the Xero HQ List of accounts it shows either in progress or Error until actually filed.1 voteThanks so much for taking the time to share this feedback — we really appreciate it.
From what you’ve described, this looks like it may be a product issue rather than a feature request. To make sure it’s properly investigated, please raise a case with Xero Support so a specialist can look into this for you.
You can contact Xero Support here: Get help from Xero support
When raising the case, it would be helpful to include as much detail as possible, including screenshots and the affected organisation details, so the team can investigate quickly.
Thanks again for flagging this.

Keyboard Shortcuts - Improve data input speed
Across all of Xero not just in Manual Journals, but suite-wide, can it be known that speed of data input is critical to productivity. Therefore can someone at Xero esculate the design choices to improve the speed of input of repetative tasks.
Manual journals for example, can we have it programmed so that I don't need to click the mouse to select the blank tax field, instead can I just TAB KEY over the existing selection??
Myob does this ..... should I mention what your competitor does better here???
3 votesHey Paul thanks for raising these ideas with us, we have split them out so they can be monitored individually as they are about different treatments. We have moved this Idea to Feedback as you are able to use keyboard shortcuts (tab) to move across fields in manual journals, so we would need more information as to why this isn't working for you or the process you are following that this doesn't apply to so we can triage this Idea further.

Custom Reports - Set dates for reports with custom periods
PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE THIS ONE JUST BECAUSE YOU MISUNDERSTAND
Reports with custom periods currently have their dates 'shifted' every month or quarter (yes, they do, no matter what 'Xero support' say - unless that has been fixed, of course). This shouldn't happen, as they do not use relative dates (they should be fixed, at least by default). This is either a bug or bad design.1 voteThanks for raising this and for taking the time to share what you’re seeing 💫.
We appreciate that you’ve asked for this idea not to be closed off. In this case though, based on our testing this isn’t expected behaviour, and Xero Product Ideas isn’t the right place for us to investigate issues that may be specific to an organisation or report setup.
Because of that, we’ve moved this idea to Feedback. The best next step is to raise a case with Xero Support so they can take a closer look at what’s happening in your organisation and troubleshoot this with you directly.
If you can include examples of the report, the date settings you’ve used, and what changes when you reopen it, that’ll help the team investigate further.

Stop closing ideas and comments before the poster gets a chance to respond
I submitted at least two ideas (or rather reported bugs or bad design), but 'Xero support' did not understand them / misunderstood, and just closed both before I got a chance to respond. Could 'support' please 1) read comments properly and 2) at least give people a chance to respond? Thank you!
1 voteHi Cat, do appreciate your feedback here and thought providing a little more clarity around how ideas are reviewed and updated may help.
I can see you had an idea that was moved to Feedback around the same date as your post here.
When an idea is updated to Feedback the idea itself is closed for comments and votes, however in the email you'll have received you have the ability to rate and respond to the update (👍, 👎 along with a free text field).
If your idea was moved to Feedback due to needing more information you can reply to the status update you received to share more information that'll be re-reviewed by our community team.
If you feel something isn't working as it should (like a bug) these sort of situations are best investigated by our Xero Support team via Xero Central where we have specialists who can…

Reporting - Make report codes available to non-partners
Iou'd like to see report codes made available to non-partner users.
1 voteThanks for sharing the idea. To properly consider it, we’d need a bit more detail on the specific problem it’s solving, who it’s for, and what outcome you’d expect. If you can share an example of the current pain point and what good would look like, that would help us assess it properly.
If you'd like to update your idea, you can reply to this update and we'll re-review - See more details on the qualities of a good idea on Xero Central.

Transaction ID's in History & Notes
In the History section it would be good to be what the Transaction ID number is, and any reversals. Take for example the sample data base (Global), Swanston Security bill for 59.54, is currently a payable, transaction ID 549 is the posting of the transaction, transaction ID 550 is the reversal, so the balance due should be 0, however the balance due is still 59.54. There is no ability to search transactions by Vendor, and no ability to show all reversing transactions of an entry, so it difficult to figure out the outstanding posting entry.
2 votesHey John, thanks for raising this with us. I think its best if you raise this with our Support teams so they can work through this with you. You can raise a case here: https://central.xero.com/s/raise-support-case?subject=transaction%20id

Reporting - Compare date range in tracking summary
There's currently no option to "Compare with" or use compare periods within the Tracking Summary report. A basic need when a business needs to compare sales from each trading division on a monthly basis, comparing with previous month's trading
1 voteThanks for sharing your feedback on this.
We understand the need to compare tracking categories side by side, especially when reviewing sales or expenses across different areas of your business.
The Tracking Summary report isn’t built as a comparison report. It’s designed to show the activity, balances, and movement for selected account types by tracking option.
If you’re looking to compare tracking categories, the best option is to use the Profit and Loss report and the Compare tracking categories feature. This allows you to view tracking options side by side for income and expense accounts.
We appreciate you taking the time to call this out and share how this would help your reporting workflows.

Xero Projects when exporting timesheet data. Although there is an option to export time entries in decimal format, the export still outputs
When exporting time entry data from Xero Projects, there is an option to export time entries in decimal format. However, the export still outputs time in hours and minutes (hh:mm) rather than in decimal hours. This makes it difficult to perform calculations in Excel, as SUM formulas do not work correctly with the exported data. And the SUM functions that appear in the Excel and Google Sheets exports do not work.
I would expect that selecting the decimal export option would provide time entries in decimal format (e.g., 1.5 hours instead of 1:30), but this is not happening. It should…
