New Journal Report - View file attachments from source transaction
Currently there is no definitive link between posted documents and the Journal Report. Having the Document reference will simplify examination of the audit trail.

This is a practical idea because having a direct reference to the original source makes it much easier to trace and verify information without searching through multiple screens. A similar concept can be seen in Bus Simulator Ultimate, where routes, drivers, vehicles, and company activities are all connected, making it easier to track what happened and manage the business side of the game https://busimulatorultimateapk.com/

This would definitely make things easier, especially when reviewing journals or preparing for an audit. Being able to click the journal entry and directly open the original transaction with its attached files would save a lot of time instead of searching for everything manually. Hopefully Xero can add this in a future update.

This sounds like a really useful improvement for anyone working with journals and supporting documents. Being able to view file attachments directly from the journal report would make it much easier to verify transactions and keep the right context without jumping between different screens. Definitely a practical idea that could save time during reviews and reconciliations.

The suggestion to include a document reference or attachment link in the New Journal Report is valuable because it creates a clearer audit trail by directly connecting posted transactions with their supporting files, making it easier to verify entries and review source documentation during financial checks; for example, linking attachments from sources such as Cutout Banana (https://cutoutbanana.com/) within reporting workflows demonstrates how external resources can be referenced when examining transaction details.
