    We are in the process of registering Xero as our Computerized Books of Accounts with the BIR. In line with this, we would like to share some suggestions that may help Xero meet the BIR requirements.

    For report generation, it would be helpful if the footer could include:

    The type of book,

    A timestamp and date,

    The name of the person who generated the report, and

    The software version number.

    At present, the footer only shows the date and type of report. Adding the generator’s name, exact time, and version number would make the reports more aligned…

    Please note Xero operates on a continuous delivery model, which means we're constantly updating and improving our software. Unlike traditional software Xero doesn't have version numbers or release dates so we are unable to provide this information.

  2. One thing I really like in the new Organisation menu is the search bar. When you click the organisation name, the cursor automatically lands in the search field, so you can start typing straight away. It makes switching between orgs quick and seamless.

    It’d be great to see this same experience in the new Reporting menu. Favouriting reports is useful, but it doesn’t cover every scenario. For power users, being able to click into the Reporting menu and have the cursor automatically placed in a search field - just like in the Organisation menu - would make it much faster…

  4. Create Syft Analytical reports & Dashboard customised by accounting periods. Our company doesn't follow Calendar months- so it will be good to compare and analyse reports based on our accounting periods and not calendar.

  5. The current Tracking Summary Report is quite inflexible. I'm unable to filter by Account Code, edit the report layout, nor save as a custom report. It would be good if this report design could be refreshed to include these features, and to bring the report inline with the newer style reports.

  6. Can the list of favourite reports be set to default to always include the Trial balance (at least with Advisor rights). As an accountant I always run a Trial balance report and have to manually set this as a favourite on every client I log into. I also regularly use the accountant transaction report and Aged payables and receivables which are already default favourites.

  7. AU – Month-to-Month Payroll Transaction Variance Report

    The current Payroll Activity Summary and Payroll Activity Details reports don’t allow for an easy comparison between two months (e.g., current vs previous). Because of the way the data is structured, it’s quite difficult to compare pay components without doing significant manual adjustments and re-ordering.

    A built-in Payroll Variance Report that shows month-to-month differences for each pay component would be extremely beneficial for payroll people.

    Thanks for submitting this idea. We've reviewed your request and classified it as Gaining Support, meaning it is now open for other community members to vote on.

    We appreciate that while you can currently download reports for individual pay runs, comparing two distinct periods to spot discrepancies requires significant manual review or manipulation outside of Xero.

    A dedicated variance report would certainly be a valuable time-saver.

  8. Is there a plan in place to update the Edit Report layout to be more user friendly!
    In particular, it is clunky inserting tables and being able to edit like a simple word doc (bold, italic, line spacing etc.)
    Also being able to print off the reports in the 'edit' mode so you can see the expanded breakdown of the accordian would be very helpful to ensure that Notes match Statements of Financial Performance and Position (especially useful for our juniors who often can't work out where their subcodes are if there have been reporting changes)

    Hi! Thank you for sharing your idea here. This is an existing feature in Xero. When editing the report layout, you can use the PDF option on the top menu bar to generate a preview of the report. If you require further elaboration or are unable to find this option, please raise a case with our support team for personalised assistance. With regards to the remaining portion of making the user interface better, we have moved this idea to gaining support to gain more support from users who would like this feature implemented.

  9. Team Xero
    currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.

    I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by

    1. showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
    2. OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
    3. TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
    4. MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…

    Hi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.

    We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.

    Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.

  10. Provide reports (for both draft pay runs and posted pay runs) in a matrix format like other Xero reports, rather than listed under each employee. The current format makes it impossible to carry out checks or to create further reports for management.

    Given the latest update that improving payroll reports is not a priority for Xero, we are very close to leaving Xero and moving to another payroll provider for the next financial year, as all other softwares we have used during our careers have provided far more useful reporting than what Xero offers.

  12. Hi Xero Support,

    We've been generating individual e-invoice from Xero/Invoici for months, however, we could not find any report on e-invoice generated through Xero/Invoici.

    This report could help us in ensuring accuracy of the data exported to MyInvois portal. We would require a specific report on the generated individual e-invoices to make sure that they tally with the sales invoices report from Xero.

    Hi Brenda, just to confirm is it within the graph that you're wanting to increase the # of top customers?

    Currently, if you run the Income by Contact report with Chart & table the chart will only show the top 10 but the table will give you an ordered list for all contacts that you received income from in the period.

  14. Create a Receivable and/or Payable Credit Note Report which lists all credit notes issued/received, and the corresponding invoice they are linked to. This will help as when a credit note is issued the status is 'paid', however if I want to do a review of invoices and days until invoice is paid, I want to be able to exclude items that have been credit noted.

    For now, the closest thing we have is to use the Receivable/Payable Invoice Detail (or Summary) reports.

    You can use the Filter option on Source, to only show credit notes. However, the existing reports don't show the invoices/bills they're allocated to.

  15. We pay contractors based on sales reports for each contractor. Getting this report is easy. In fact, Xero does that well. However, to get that same report and deduct a % value or any other value to work out what the contractor payment will be. Then being able to save & print & Email that report. Currently, we export to Excel, and whilst that works great, it is fiddly and time consuming. Probably not for everyone, but handy for some.

    THi Steven 👋, thanks for raising this idea. We appreciate its not straightforward calculating the percentage of invoices paid to contractors, which we know creates extra manual work. Although this is not on our current roadmap, we will monitor this idea for votes and other comments. However, for now, a workaround would continue to be to export the report and use a spreadsheet application to calculate the percentages. 📈


  16. Leave transaction report - NZ. Could this be changed to select multiple employees & to change the format so that there is a column for employee as opposed to grouping by employee. This enables easier reconciling through Excel. The Australian Leave Transaction report is ideal - could NZ's be made the same or similar.

  18. Please add a VAT Reconciliation Report for South African Xero Orgs.
    There is currently no report that allows users to determine which transactions in the VAT Control Account have been posted to which VAT periods and which returns they fall under. Late claims are not indicated anywhere except in the transaction detail within each VAT201, so the Control Account needs to be reconciled externally in excel.
    This is particularly an issue when a conversion from another accounting software has taken place and there are opening balances to reconcile. Or if conversion took place mid VAT period.

  20. Essential for cash flow and projections, an annual report divided by month that includes source and base currencies.

    The "Account Transactions" report currently enables us to overview all accounts (Balance Sheet and P&L) in both currencies (source and base) but lacks a feature to display 12 months alongside each other.
