Account Transactions - Remove Awaiting Payment status from unallocated overpayments
In the customer under account transactions it shows the list of invoices and payments. Against unallocated overpaymentsit shows the status of 'Awaiting Payment' why? we are not awaiting the payment it is shown there.
Awaiting allocation maybe.
Anyway this caused confusion for our sales guy who had goods arrive for a proforma customer, he saw 'Awaiting payment' and thought they had not yet paid so he did not ship the goods, (Accounts were not in to tell him) He did not see the words overpayment or even if he had, he was not accounts so would he understand it? He…

Bank Reconciliation - Overpayments should appear in the Find & Match
Overpayments should appear in the Find & Match for Customers.
If a customer pays their correct amount owing, but an overpayment on their account hasn't been allocated against an invoice, it is impossible to reconcile.
Users have to go into Contacts, check if there is an overpayment, allocate the overpayment against an invoice then go back into the Bank Reconciliation page.
Users should be able to tick the invoices being paid and the overpayment that was used to reconcile in Find & Match.21 votes -
Chart of accounts - Add support for subaccounts
Xero should have the ability (similar to QuickBooks) to have sub accounts in Chart of Accounts.
77 votesHi community, thanks for continuing to engage, and sharing your needs in adding more layers to your chart of accounts structure.
We know especially for some of our US customers that this can sometimes be a show stopper in using of Xero.
Right now, we do have a product team that have begun exploring the efforts that'd be required to implement a change of this nature - while we can't commit to any development at this point we'll share any progression with you all here. Thanks

Batch Deposit - Reference to pull through to bank reconciliation
When I enter a reference in batch deposit, this does not pull through to the bank reconciliation. On the bank reconciliation report, the Description is "Payment: multiple items" and the Reference field is blank. This is not useful as I have to go into each transaction and see which company the receipt has come from. Why enter a reference when it does not appear on the bank reconciliation report? When I try to search to match deposits using the company name, these deposits do not appear as the Description is unhelpful. If there are smaller batches which add up to…

Chart of Accounts - All Debits as Positive & all Credits as Negative Values
Pls can you consider providing an option to view all Debit balances as positive values and all Credit balances as negative values (in brackets) on the Chart of Accounts as well as accounts on the Dashboard?
That way it's immediately obvious if a balance is owing TO the business or BY the business, without having to first determine if an acc is set up as an asset or a liability on the Chart of Accounts.

Xero Accounting app - Create Overpayments & Prepayments
Would be really useful to have the ability to add Spend or Receive money transactions (overpayments or prepayments) within the mobile app. At p[resent the only options are bank fees or adjustments. So quite often reconciling transactions requiring this type of action need to be left until able to access a full web browser version.

Bank Rules - Show account, description and tax details
On the reconciliation screen in the bank account, if a transaction is being picked up by a rule, could we see both which rule it is being picked up by as well as the name, account, description, and tax details that the rule is using?
10 votesThanks for the idea, Garrett. This isn't in any plans at the moment, but we'll keep an eye on it as the team are thinking about this in the wider context of the bank reconciliation process.
In the meantime a workaround could be to include those details in the title of your bank rule. For example Supplier Name - Motor (20% VAT)

Find and Recode - Sort on Find and Recode by description
being able to sort by description on find and recode
143 votesHi everyone, we're grateful for your feedback on improving Find and Recode, and recognise how sorting by description could enhance your ability to review and recode transactions.
While not a direct solution, you could filter by Contact and then in the browser Ctrl + F to search highlight keywords in descriptions and find the right transactions. We know it's not perfect, but might help narrow things down.
To be transparent and provide some clarity here, there are no planned changes to change the functionality within Find & recode right now. We will share if our position around this changes and there are any updates for you all here.

Bank Rules - Bulk edit bank rules to include GST/VAT/TAX
When a client changes from GST registered to no longer GST registered - It would be greatly appreciated if all the rules changed to BAS Exc like it does in Chart of Accounts. Young clients shop everywhere and therefore there are hundreds of rules to edit.

Chart of Accounts - Ability to lock individual accounts
The lock date feature is great for preventing back posting as a whole but we would benefit from a lock feature for specific nominal accounts - to prevent colleagues posting to a specific account until dates are unlocked.
34 votesThanks for your idea, Sarah - We'll get a sense of the interest here.
Perhaps in the meantime you could look to use the Archive and restore options for an account in your chart of accounts as a way of managing this?

Lock dates - Warning if user enters a date in a prior / locked period
It would be good if there was a warning if an adviser user inadvertently enters a date in a prior accounting period which has been locked. For example year end is 31 Dec 2022 and a current year bill is entered as 17/11/22 instead of 17/11/23

Bank Reconciliation - Restore duplicate statement line from exception report
I have a client whose workers use toll gates daily, often returning on the same day. Xero sees this as a duplicate expense and delete the second transaction.
It would help if Xero can create a report showing these duplicates and giving the option to pull them into the bank.2 votesHi Mariaan, while not possible to restore the statement lines from the report, you can run the Statement Exceptions report which shows deleted or duplicated statement lines.

Bank Rules - Add condition for transaction type
Bank Rules - Add condition for Transaction Type (and other Statement Details)
Sometimes loan payments only come through with the loan number as the payee, but the transaction is for Interest only. I want to be able to set up a bank rule based on the "Transaction Type" coming through in the bank feed so that Interest and Principal payments can be coded directly to the correct codes. Most banks have these details in one of "Payee", "Description", or "Reference". ANZ bank does not, there may be other banks that are similar.
I have tried to add criteria for this…

Bank rules - Option to pause/disable Bank Rules
Would be great to have a "Disable" button for checked/selected Bank rules on the bank rule page, rather than only a "Delete" button. Sometimes staff want to turn them off but we don't want to delete them.
4 votesHi team, thank you for the idea here. We get there can be circumstances where you may want to switch off a bank rule temporarily and we'll continue to watch the interest this idea receives for now.
If there's any progress we will share an update with you here.

Banking | Account transactions tab - Show transaction description
The Account Transactions tab has very weird information presented. I need to see either the Description from the Transaction or the Expense Account account it's hitting. I see neither.
In the Description Column of the Account Transaction Tab, you have the vendor/contact, not the Expense Description. In the Reference Column, you have the bank reference, which is fine, but it's a duplicate of the vendor info. You're leaving me with no useful information about the transaction.
This is something Quickbooks has figured out. I can see how the expenses are being categorized without opening every individual transaction. This is a…

Bank Reconciliation - reconcile transactions for multiple bank accounts at a time
I'd like the Reconcile pages to allow me to select some all of my bank accounts to display. This would aggregate the unreconciled statement lines and display them all in date order to be reconciled all the same time.
Reason 1: Convenience. I use several bank accounts and would prefer to reconcile all of the transactions in one go.
Reason 2: Error reduction. The most common error I see relating my clients' bank balances is their misuse of Transfer (setting the wrong account, using it for accounts that aren't linked etc.). If they could see both accounts and therefore both…

Bank reconciliation - Find and Match transactions to show Minor Adjustments variances
A setting in the backend to turn on/off to find and match transactions within a certain amount (i.e.-/+0.05).
These are usually (if not always a rounding adjustment). It's currently a 4-step process to add a minor adjustment.
Also, selecting minor adjustment or bank fee, can the difference auto populate in the amount field?!!
