  1. If you have multiple invoices for the same client, a feature that allows you the option to automatically apply bank transactions receiving money from the client to the oldest invoices first moving closer to date would be mighty helpful. At the current moment, we have to manually split out each transaction to the invoices when reconciling bank transactions; it stands to reason that if you have a client with multiple invoices and they pay off in chunks, you would want to apply payments to their oldest debt first; having this as a selectable option for a contact / bank rule…

  2. When importing bank statements, it would be very useful if we could select (already in the csv perhaps) whether the payment is to be a Direct Payment, or rather a Prepayment.

We receive almost exclusively prepayments, and I find that when I import the statement, that I cannot select that the income lines should be treated as Prepayment.

  3. I'd like the Reconcile pages to allow me to select some all of my bank accounts to display. This would aggregate the unreconciled statement lines and display them all in date order to be reconciled all the same time.

Reason 1: Convenience. I use several bank accounts and would prefer to reconcile all of the transactions in one go.

Reason 2: Error reduction. The most common error I see relating my clients' bank balances is their misuse of Transfer (setting the wrong account, using it for accounts that aren't linked etc.). If they could see both accounts and therefore both…

  4. I would like to be able to have a foreign currency account in the COA other than bank accounts. If an invoice is received and paid in a foreign currency, it should show as the foreign currency as the source, not the base currency. This affects loan accounts a lot and if invoices are paid from a loan account, instead of a bank account, you can't keep the currency consistent.

  5. It would be very useful to be able to separate Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to classify the contacts between external and internal (intercompany/group). This would assist with the consolidated views for a group of entities.

  6. Sometimes the order of transactions is different in Uncoded Statement Lines Report to the transactions you are coding in Cash Coding. This means you cannot quickly enter codes from the Lines Report but have to carefully check line by line that it's the same transaction. This is extremely annoying, time consuming and occasionally results in incorrectly coded transaction lines. This has been a problem for years! It's terrible.

  7. Allow users the ability to import and export bank rules.

This would save time having to manually create similar bank rules in Xero, and ease with new client organisation setup

Hi community, thanks for your responses to our update and the continued interest this idea receives. We're keeping a watchful eye on the support this idea gathers.

As mentioned in my last update our immediate focus for now is delivering more automation and intelligent tools to help you reconcile faster.

However, we understand and appreciate the pain points shared through this idea and will move the status of this to Accepted as our product team look into more details around this and how we might plan this into the roadmap.

I'll keep you updated of any developments in this space.

  8. When a bank feed form is uploaded, you can see the status of this - currently if one person has uploaded bank feed form, no one else can tell. Would be great if it just showed "bank feed form uploaded and being processed" or something

Hi everyone, thank you for this great suggestion about making the status of bank feed applications visible to all users within a Xero organisation.

We understand that when one team member submits a bank feed form, the lack of visibility can lead to confusion or duplicate work for others.

We encourage you and other members to vote, and add comments below sharing how having a shared status like "bank feed form uploaded and being processed" would improve your team's workflow.

While we don't currently have plans to build this functionality, we'll be keeping a close eye on the support for this idea here and will keep you informed of any updates.

  9. Can we please have a Parent and Child relationship on the accounts to ease cash allocations. At the moment we are getting 1 payment that covers multiple accounts.

We work with Schools and get payments from Councils and Academy's. These payments go across multiple schools and payments are currently allocated 1 invoice at a time.

It would be helpful to have a Parent account / Hierarchy account or to put the Council/Academy name within the individual school account on Xero and put the Parent/Hierarcy name within the "Find & select matching transactions" - "Search by name or reference"

  10. Overpayments should appear in the Find & Match for Customers.
If a customer pays their correct amount owing, but an overpayment on their account hasn't been allocated against an invoice, it is impossible to reconcile.
Users have to go into Contacts, check if there is an overpayment, allocate the overpayment against an invoice then go back into the Bank Reconciliation page.
Users should be able to tick the invoices being paid and the overpayment that was used to reconcile in Find & Match.

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate the interest and sharing how this feature would be beneficial to you here.

As you may have seen when reconciling or through other updates, we have introduced credit notes into the reconcile experience where you can now find and select credit notes directly from the Find & Match screen.

We understand there are other transactions types our customer would like this functionality extended to and are continuing to consider how we may expand this overtime.

We will share further any further updates around this with you here. Thanks

  11. Please add Recap Transaction found in MYOB.
The feature allows you to see which accounts will be affected (debited or credited) by a transaction you're about to enter. Seeing what effect a particular transaction will have on the accounts allows one to know the outcome of transactions with accuracy. This is a powerful feature that can prevent incorrect entry of all kinds of transactions. See attached screenshot from MYOB

Appreciate not the exact feature you're looking for here and will be good to get a sense of the interest of this here. In the meantime, I wanted to make sure you can find this information once reconciled. Those with the Standard or Adviser roles can run the Journal report to view recent impacts to accounts and the user that made each change.

  12. Bank statement search needs to allow the user to filter the search by spent or received as the amounts elements apply to both spent and received.

Also - please fix the bug with status being ignored by the search.

  13. Bank Reconciliation suggestions. The ability for Xero to identify a name within a customer contact and match it to the name on the bank feed and suggest this as a match. for example John Smith is the contact for ABC pty ltd. when he makes payment he only references John Smith. Xero will recognise John smith is a contact for ABC pty ltd and suggest their invoice in the bank rec.

  14. I would like to be able to send a bank/xero link to connect the AMEX credit card feeds or other banks that enable linking via internet banking, rather than having to add the client as a user in Xero first to be able to connect bank feeds via a link. This seems to complicate the signing of completed financials and tax returns sent from xero to the client for signature. It asks them to login (when their email is connected with a Xero account just so they could link internet banking) and many clients are finding it frustrating.

  15. Bank Transfers - they are great and easy - but it would be awesome if we could just improve them in the following ways - some of these suggestions incorporates other suggestions - but thinking if you are working on improving this functionality - it would be great to do it all at once. Currently when you create a transfer from the Bank feed - you can only select a bank account and enter a reference - it would be great if you could also, add tracking code(s) on that screen too (as currently if you need to attach tracking…

Hi team, returning to this idea here we do appreciate the interest in improvements and how we could make the process of reconciling transfers simpler when there are additional details or actions needed.

Being open we're unlikely to deliver all the points raised in this idea at once and it's best for our product teams to understand the interest in each separately.

We do have existing ideas that relate to most of these elements and I've linked to below, and I will edit the title of the idea here to reflec the ability to attach a file when reconciling a Transfer. Please do add your vote to each that matters to you and we'll be sure to share if there is any pogress for that idea respectively. Thanks

  16. In the customer under account transactions it shows the list of invoices and payments. Against unallocated overpaymentsit shows the status of 'Awaiting Payment' why? we are not awaiting the payment it is shown there.

    Awaiting allocation maybe.

Anyway this caused confusion for our sales guy who had goods arrive for a proforma customer, he saw 'Awaiting payment' and thought they had not yet paid so he did not ship the goods, (Accounts were not in to tell him) He did not see the words overpayment or even if he had, he was not accounts so would he understand it? He…

  17. Hi there,
Is there any way you could integrate the photos I put on my Starling Bank account of receipts I receive for purchases for my business account, so that I don't have to enter them twice, once on Starling and once on Xero.
I realise this is not an option, as it's not happening, but the notes I add do come through, so could the photos too?
In this new digital paperless world, it would be good not to have to keep every receipt and have to remember to photograph it twice. Hubdoc doesn't help, because you still have…

Hi Lynda, thanks so much for taking the time to share this excellent suggestion. Automatically importing receipt photos from your bank directly into Xero is a great idea, and we can certainly see how much time that would save you.

As you've pointed out, you can also import your receipts into Xero by using Hubdoc.

For transparency, the direct bank feed for Starling Bank was developed and is maintained by the team at Starling. This means they control the type of data—like the transaction date, amount, and notes—that is sent through the feed to Xero. For that reason, the best way forward is to make this feature request directly to Starling Bank, as they are in the best position to add this functionality to the feed they provide.

We’ll keep this idea open on our forum to continue gathering interest here.

  18. When selecting Remove and Redo for Spend transactions, all attachments are lost.
If the attachments are receipts that were photographed using the Xero app, they are not kept on the Xero app either.
This means that selecting Remove and Redo is the same as throwing the original receipt in the shredder, not just in the bin to potentially be retrieved later.
A pop-up warning asking if you'd like to save the attachments to the File Library before removing and redoing would avoid the loss of the transaction's supporting documentation.

  19. When I enter a reference in batch deposit, this does not pull through to the bank reconciliation. On the bank reconciliation report, the Description is "Payment: multiple items" and the Reference field is blank. This is not useful as I have to go into each transaction and see which company the receipt has come from. Why enter a reference when it does not appear on the bank reconciliation report? When I try to search to match deposits using the company name, these deposits do not appear as the Description is unhelpful. If there are smaller batches which add up to…

Hi community, thanks for continuing to engage, and sharing your needs in adding more layers to your chart of accounts structure.

We know especially for some of our US customers that this can sometimes be a show stopper in using of Xero.

Right now, we do have a product team that have begun exploring the efforts that'd be required to implement a change of this nature - while we can't commit to any development at this point we'll share any progression with you all here. Thanks
