  1. We integrate with Stripe for payments and we reconcile our Stripe payments every day to invoices that we generate automatically via a script. On average, we reconcile 50 to 100 invoices each day to Stripe payments. The issue we have with Xero is that the Xero algorithm looks at the amount, the name (customer), OR reference (invoice, order, etc) to match payments with invoices. Like many businesses, our sales price is the same across many accounts and we sell many of the same products over and over to the same customers so this renders the Xero algorithm useless for an…

  2. It would be really helpful if I could produce reports (by various time periods as usual) that list all the bank reconciliations that I have posted to my various accounts that I have created. This is useful for me to check in my book-keeping role to ensure that I have reconciled everything to the correct account, especially before passing everything to my accountant to produce the accounts.

    Example:
    Does my "Postage & Stationery" account include only postage and stationery bank statement reconciliations?
    Does my "Salaries" account include only salary bank statement reconciliations?

  3. When you have a bulk bill payment as one line on the bank rec, it would be useful if within the ‘match’ tab you could easily bring up the bills with a specific planned to pay date. Rather than having to search for each bill/supplier from a separate list.

  4. Almost all the payment providers are now settling the amounts with the fees deducted from the captured/sale amount. This needs to be reconciled as two lines 1) Transfer to cash control account and 2) Bank fees.
    Currently there is no way to create a rule for this, hence it is a big overhead for the reconciliation, with almost a large chunk of card sale having to go through this process.

    Can the product team please take care of this on priority? thanks

  5. Create a Bank Reconciliation Report only which would be the current Reconciliation report without trial balance, AP, AR, Fixed assets, general ledger exemptions and journal entries.
    I know you could custom create the report but xero generated would be more professional and would also includes any additional bank accounts .

  6. It would be really great if we could add a description to a Batch Deposit, instead of it coming up automatically as "Payment: multiple items"
    I know we can add a reference but being able to put your own description would also be great too.

  7. Currently you can click the Inv Ref field in a results list from a search in Find & Recode and it will add a little ^ symbol to indicating it is sorting by that column.

    It's not.

    It's sorting by the date column.

    Same if you click it again and get a \/ symbol.

    Xero said that it's working as designed 🥴

    Fix this madness and either remove the ability to click the column and the suggestion it's sorting (the ^ symbol) or make it work (sort by that column).

  9. It would be useful to have some sort of 'notes' section within each bank account. We have several bank accounts for various purposes (mostly to use as 'savings' for various tax liabilities (for example, corporation tax, VAT etc)-but it would be useful, for managing cash and future liabilities to have a notes section to keep track of what is due and when, rather than having to do either run a VAT return or P+L every time I need to remind myself and how much needs to be put aside.

  10. Allocate spent money to supplier invoice raised at a later date -We pay our electricity monthly by direct debit - we may have 6-9 payments that have been reconcilled as spent money as the next supplier invoice has not been received. It appears you have to remove & redo the reconcilliation rather than having a facility to allocate that spent money to the invoice. This is incredibly time consuming and should be a facility available.

  12. The US version of Xero doesn't have a tax rate column in the "Chart of Accounts" tab. In other regions of the world (like Australia & England) their version of Xero has access to see that information.

    It seems like a simple addition, as it has already been done, that could only help out those using Xero in the United States.

  13. Xero split - id like to see this removed. It's completely non user friendly and painful. We should be able to process a payment I
    Of choice regardless of receipt or payment. Please Xero work on this area. Other accounting package makes it so East
    Y. Xero is difficult and I cant see why it needs to be

  14. I am running the Accounting Transaction for the period from last year. I found that the opening balances at all bank account was missing start from the Year of 2024. Do you know why? Could you help to share where I can check it the setting?

    Hi Luther thanks for raising the bank feed issue here. Xero Product Ideas is where you can publicly post ideas you have for features or changes you’d like to see in Xero. We've checked to see if any cases have been raised about this but it doesn't look like there are any cases. We recommend reaching out to our support team so they can investigate this on their end.

  16. Is it possible to have the system generate PV and OR for each outgoing payment and incoming payment for easy reference and traceability purpose, so that we need not download every payment into PDF and rename them one by one. Its time consuming and non value added.

    Could you clarify what the abbreviations PV and OR stand for in this context? It would also be helpful to explain how you envision the system generating them and the benefits this would bring to handling payments.

  17. Right now, I’m running two separate Xero profiles — one for my workshop and one for my retail business — but both use the same bank account. Because of this, the same bank transactions feed into both profiles, which means I’m having to reconcile everything twice.

    In the Reconcile screen, it would really help to have an additional dropdown that auto-defaults to the profile I’m currently in, but also lets me switch to the other one. Essentially, the two profiles would need to sync with each other, so the figures stay accurate, while still allowing me to view revenue and…

    I’ve classified this post as Feedback. While I can see how a 'sync' feature would save you time in your current setup, Xero is architected so that each subscription acts as a separate legal entity. Because of this, bank feeds and reconciliation are kept strictly independent to ensure your audit trails remain secure and accurate for tax purposes.


    However, the good news is that Xero has a feature designed to solve this exact problem—allowing you to manage both business arms in one profile so you only have to reconcile once!


    The Recommended Solution: Tracking Categories Instead of two profiles, you can run both the 'Workshop' and 'Retail' arms under one Xero subscription. You then use Tracking Categories to tag every transaction. This allows you to:

  19. Switch Banks from the left sidebar. People need to go to Dashboard, click a bank, then have access to the drop down menu of banks, but this is slow and not as useful as having all the banks and credit card accounts listed on the left sidebar with ability to switch.

  20. Make the banks (like American Express) see how they need to fix their systems. It's not your fault transactions don't match up. The banks need to improve their data.
