Homepage - Link to Drafts at top of Invoice and Bills widgets
What a ridiculous page the new layout is. I tried to add a new bill to Xero, I went back to the NEW layout Bills to pay - nothing added, I tried again still nothing. I have to scroll down to find the draft bills at the bottom of the widget. More efficient NO, time consuming YES what a waste of space this new layout is. Wouldn't you think you'd have the Draft bill under the ones already approved not way down at the bottom. It's the same with the Invoices waiting for payment they are right at the bottom. They should be under the ones waiting for payment. The old layout is much more user friendly for the everyday user to use. MYOB is looking better every day may have to go back to them and bugger the cost. AND I can ring them and speak to a human!!
Appreciate hearing your feedback on this here, Tania. I can assure you our teams did a lot of testing with all aspects of the homepage prior to it's rollout however we totally understand there are different views of what information would be most valuable, where. This is exactly the type of thing we're keen to hear and understand the appetite of through product ideas.
Just to confirm for everyone coming across this idea - While slightly changed in terms of placement it's possible to view Drafts for Invoices and Bills in their related Invoices owed to you, or Bills to pay widgets.
This is now found beneath the graph where you can click the 'x' drafts text to go straight to the list of draft invoices (or bills) - see image
We don't have any immediate plans for changing the placement of the Drafts link within the Invoices owed to you, or Bills to pay widgets however we'll begin to get a sense of the community interest and be sure to share if there are any updates planned for this, here.

Please can we have easier access to the draft bills which I use a lot. The old layout is much better for this and I will continue to use while I can.

I think from the feedback on the portal you know the 'community interest' and it's NOT positive!
Many clients, including us, will now be looking at alternative solutions to Xero -

Can we have the old page back. The new page is horrific. Change for change sake does NOT make a better product

I can't see what testing Xero did on the awful new home page: it is far too cluttered and too busy. To be honest I just ignore it and go to the index at the top and get to the sections I want that way so for me it is a total waste of time, well done Xero!

I would also like the 'look at draft bills' link to be next to the 'look at unpaid bills' link. Put all the information next to each other, all the action items next to each other, and in the same size!
Finishing off drafts so they can be sent or dealt with is just as important as following up on unpaid things!

I use draft bills all the time and would like to access it from the Purchases tab at the top. It would be good to be able to put your own things under the blue tabs and avoid the busy looking Home page

Hi Kelly - Thanks for your response, however its a pretty simple change that a lot of people are asking for. Its one of my gripes with Xero - you repeatedly fail to listen to your customers. I would really appreciate if you could escalate this issue

It really should be a trivial change to make Draft Bills and Bills awaiting Approval appear right beneath Invoices Owed and Overdue, above the graph, in the same font and style.

Hi Kelly, thanks for the update and for taking the feedback on board. I’d like to add my support for making Draft invoices and Draft bills more visible and accessible, ideally higher up in the widgets and with a bit more detail. For many of us, drafts are something we work with every single day, and being able to see them quickly (along with outstanding invoices, bills still to pay, and any notes/reminders) would genuinely make the homepage more useful.
At the moment the homepage feels quite graph-heavy and cluttered, and when you’re already under pressure it helps to see only what’s necessary for actioning tasks. If I need graphs or trends, that’s something I’d typically look at occasionally, but the daily view needs to prioritise what needs attention now. Also, the graphs aren’t always fully current, which makes it even more important that the key operational items, drafts, outstanding items, and reminders (like VAT submission) are front and centre.
Thanks again for listening, I’m definitely keen to see this improved.
Also, as an afterthought, it would really help if we could resize the widgets, make them bigger or smaller depending on what we need to focus on. For example, I’d love to expand the Tasks widget (and hopefully custom reminders/notes in future) so the important operational items are visible at a glance, without extra clicking or scrolling.

I do not understand why it has been repeatedly mentioned on several threads asking to move the draft button to a more convenient location again that you will not be doing that. It is very easy to miss the drafts now as I cant see the list of drafts waiting for me without scrolling, and I have a very large monitor, I can't imagine this is easier for those with normal sized monitors. We should at least be able to remove the graphs so it isnt wasting so much space. The moving of the drafts button has been one of my biggest frustrations with the new layout aside from the mental exhaustion of the cluttered new layout

Suggestion: make the "drafts" in the "Invoices owed to you" widget stand out. I update draft invoices on a daily basis as work progresses.

Draft Bills and Draft Invoices are the most important thing on the home page because they are work that needs to be completed. It becomes very easy to forget you have a pile of bills to enter and pay if they are pushed down the bottom. The original home page is much better as these are top of the list and obvious. Please move it back up top.
The figures on the new page are much too large - we don't need everyone who walks in the door being able to read how much money is in our bank and all our other business details from across the room. Not every user needs that much information. Especially bad is having a profit/loss amount out in the open for the customer to look at over your shoulder. And of course that figure is completely unrealistic if you have a big pile of draft bills you've forgotten to put in .....
So far the whole page opens up every time, regardless of how many times I have hidden sections of it. Is this going to have to be done every day? Please retain the option to go back to the old home page. -

Hi
It seems strange to have the draft invoices/ bills down the bottom and not in an obvious position on the widget. Overdue invoices and bills are somewhat inconsequential. It is more important from a business perspective to be able to see Awaiting Payment and Draft invoices/ bills right next to each other so that you can quickly add them together to see where you are at and have overdue down the bottom of the widget. -

Hi totally agree where is the draft button? I enter it in the "Search" area and still cant't find it. So now I have to keep switching back to the old version why?

It used to be more prominent showing if there were drafts ready, but now its not obvious at all.
Would be great if these were highlighted with like a clue background to easily see, maybe bigger? -

Make the DRAFTS invoices more obvious so they dont get missed. The button is too small
I needs to have some sort of alert or red notification that an invoice has not been sent yet, or is sitting in draft. As we use external software to send invoices to draft in xero, things can get lost easily.
