Hi everyone, we’ve created this idea based on feedback we’ve heard from the community.

We know how important it is to be able to instantly search for a client when creating a job in Xero Practice Manager. Manually scrolling through a long drop-down list can be time-consuming, especially for practices with a large client base.

Adding a search function here would make the process faster and more efficient, helping you get straight to work.

This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your votes and comments help us understand how valuable this feature is to the wider Xero community and support future development decisions.

Hi community, thanks for sharing your interest through this idea. We recently announced the Xero Partner Hub at Xerocon. It encompasses many improvements for our partners to be able to move more efficiently and serve clients. One of the changes that accommodates part of the idea here is that you'll be able to search the Client list by a clients organisation name, or legal/trading name as mentioned on this related idea.

We appreciate there may be some practices using custom fields for this data and we want to be open that custom fields will not be searchable from the Client list. We have another idea for searching custom fields that you can join and follow for updates. You can find out more about Xero Partner Hub from our website.

Yes please do add this in as a column in the depreciation schedule. It will save so much time to be able to check all assets as a summary rather than having to go into each individual asset in Fixed Assets to see if it has been applied. our clients will also appreciate being able to see this in summary as well.

Thanks for your interest in this idea, everyone. We understand there are different ways our customers find useful when entering dates for invoices in Xero.

Based on feedback our team are looking at improvements to the date pickers in new invoicing. While I can't confirm exactly what these will entail atm, we'll shift the idea to working on it and I'll be back to confirm when we have more of the detail.

Understand our customers have different habits when entering dates, Emily. Atm you can use '-' or '/' to separate n umbers in your dates, however as you've found '.' isn't an option. We'll begin gathering interest in this here, and I'll share if there are any updates planned.

Also please add " " (space) as an option too. Account transactions screen of bank reconciliation logic is great.

Some of the newer features/upgrades in Xero now limit the format that can be entered for the date e.g. bank reconciliation 'reconcile' tab, invoicing and fixed assets, or the field doesn't allow you to type the date at all (forces the user to use the calendar).

Please allow any date format to be used in all date fields in Xero. The functionality of the date fields in the 'account transactions' tab of bank reconciliation is perfect - please use that logic)

    Suggested formats to allow:
    spaces
    dashes -
    slashes /
    dots/full stops .

I usually use dots as this is easier to type on the number section of the keyboard but this no longer works and now defaults to today's which is a pain if you don't notice.

Hi Jonathan! Thanks for sharing this great suggestion about allowing more flexible date formats in Xero. We can see how being able to type a date in different formats (like dd/mm/yyyy) would be a much quicker and more intuitive experience for many, and acknowledge that this functionality is available within other areas of Xero.

We've also added the supporters of this idea to these two similar ideas; New invoicing and Fixed Assets.🙂

Thank you for this excellent and detailed suggestion regarding NZ tax returns and tax pooling payments.

We can certainly see how clients would find it confusing when their prepared tax return in XPM doesn't reflect payments they have already made to a provider like TMNZ or Tax Traders. Your idea to add a note or a specific field on the return to record this amount would be a great way to provide clarity and manage client expectations.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members.

Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how this feature could improve their practice and client conversations around tax payments.

Thanks for sharing your idea in the forums here, Natascha. Can see how if you have a big batch this could save you time from having to scroll through and uncheck the suppliers that don't have an email.

While this isn't something we have immediate plans of we'll continue to get a sense of the interest from your idea here.

We have a big focus on enhancing and expanding our billing payment solutions across Xero and regions so we'll let you know if there are any plans that'd help in your idea here.

Hi team, while this is an idea we'd like to track interest in demand for, I want to be upfront that there are no plans for developing a consolidated statement of account that encompasses both bills and invoices at this point.

Right now, if this is a view you're after an option may be to run the Contact Transactions Summary report that'll provide a summary of your receivable, payable and cash transactions for a contact over a period, that you could then export to provide your contact.

Currently xero only have an activity statement available for sales invoices/customers. It would be great for this functionality to be added to the suppliers/bills area as well. Sometimes you receive a supplier statement that you cannot make match up to your records, and it is really hard to see what payments have been made for what bills, particularly if payments are made via batch payment. I think an activity statement showing all bills & related payments (including those inside batch payments), would be so helpful in order to send a tidy report to the supplier to investigate any discrepancies that may occur.

Hey everyone, thanks for all your valuable feedback and support on this idea here.

It's nice to see tips being shared throughout this thread to help others managing multiple assets. The suggestion to group similar items (like office chairs or laptops) into a single asset with a quantity can be an efficient way to handle things. When you need to dispose of some, you can then perform a partial disposal by updating the quantity, which helps save a few steps.

Wanting to share an update for you all, although I appreciate it will not be the news hoped for - Developing the capability to bulk dispose assets isn't on our current roadmap. We will keep an active eye on the support this continue to build here and be sure to let you know if anything changes here.

Hey team, thanks for all your input on partial asset disposal.

We understand that manually managing parts of an asset can be time-consuming. While we don't have plans at this time to develop a built-in feature, your feedback's really helpful in showing us where things could improve.

For now, manual methods to calculate depreciation and record journal entries to keep things accurate would be the best option.

However, this is a feature that we'd like to revisit as we plan our future roadmaps, and will be happy to share if there is any traction around this. Please keep sharing this idea with any colleagues you feel could benefit from this too.

Appreciate you raising this with us, Natascha. Being completely open, having checked in with our product team while it might be something we revisit further down the track, we don't have any plans for enabling adding of page breaks from the Insert Content drop down in the near term. We'll shift the status to Not planned so others seeing can also understand.
